  • I can sleep in if I feel like it again!
This door is so simple to install. Cut your hole out and screw this on. You need to make sure that you have a clear area for the door to move up into as it is a solid piece that moves upwards out of the way and back down and you need to make sure you have at least some sunlight available throughout the day to keep it charged and ready to go. I was so excited to get this and when I opened the box, I thought it had to be missing something because except for the remote control, it's just one piece. It didn't seem right. So, I tried it out right there in my kitchen. Turned the lights on, powered it up and raised the door up and down a bunch of times. Then I even tried to close it on my hand to make sure it wasn't going to squash a slow poke chicken. I then ran right outside and within five minutes (I already had the place for it to go) had screwed it over the opening. It is beyond easy. You have options to let the door open and close with light. Open and close with a timer. Or a combination of the two which is what I need. I want it to open with the light in the morning but close with a timer at night. In the winter, I have to leave for work a good while before the sun comes up and I have always hated that I wake them up and risk them getting grabbed by something still poking around in the dark. My chickens are free range all day and put themselves to bed in the coop at night. Up until now, I've let them out early and then I have to wait until it gets dark to close them in. I have fallen asleep and forgotten them four times. Two of those four times, that cost a chicken. I can't use the dusk feature because I have a few chickens that stay out a little later the others and they would end up locked out. The only thing that could be a problem for some people is that the door must be placed where it does receive some sunlight. The solar panel is part of the door frame. I have another door that the solar panel is wired separately. That one does have more flexibility to where it can go but you can't beat the simplicity of this system. It seriously only took me five minutes and if I'd had to cut out the opening for it, it wouldn't have added much time to the installation. I'm still just amazed. ... show more

  • Works awesome, huge time saver, fits my large Peking Ducks
The media could not be loaded. So the build of this automatic door appears to be very solid when you pull it out of the box, you'll receive some mounting hardware in the form of a few wood screws to attach your door to your hen house/duck house. I had this completely 'assembled' with scrap wood I had laying around in about 30 minutes, using the auto-door itself to use as a template for the door cutout, so ease of install is based on how creative you can be. Setting up the door was easy as well, I'm only using the T-T function which is a timed mode with a simple OPEN/CLOSE time. Everything is in military time, so simply set the current time, then continue on down the blinking numbers and set your times you want this to auto-open and auto-close. Our ducks were fearful of the opening the first night because this was such a small entry compared to the big wire gate they used to have, but after a day of hunger and using their feed as bait inside of their caged area, they built up the courage overnight to make their way through the door. It's been a week now and they haven't had anymore issues with the door. This has been a beautiful addition to our duck area, no more stressing at 10:30pm at night to have to walk a acre away to shut the duck house door to keep the coyotes out and in the a.m. there's no rush to get out there and let them free. Massively convenient. I will note however, that the ducks have been pecking at the gate itself and they were somehow successful in damaging the metal charging port, which now only has two wires hanging from the case rather than the metal female jack used to charge the battery with an additional panel if need be. The remote controller is also a very convenient feature, just overall a very cool product that I should have tried sooner. ... show more

  • Feature-packed & convenient
This feature-packed chicken coop door has a sprocketed panel metal door which can be programmed to operate by timer or photocell (dawn/dusk). The default anti-pinch function can be de-activated (although I’m unsure why anyone ever would). An integrated solar panel powers the timer and photocell. Because the solar panel is part of the unit the charging unit it can’t be located elsewhere to maximize solar gain and must be mounted as best you can to maximize solar gain. Fortunately, the photocell’s light sensitivity is adjustable for photocell triggering if mounted in a shady area. I do have some concern for this winter when overcast days in the cloudy Pacific Northwest will limit solar recharging. If needed, I will take a portable power bank out if battery recharging is needed. The unit was protectively packaged with cushion block foam – including the more fragile electronic and solar parts. All needed hardware accompanied the door as well as an USB charging cable and a tiny keychain-sized remote. The enclosed booklet had color photos and diagrams with detailed instructions for setting timer and/or solar photocell function. Programming instructions were a little confusing, but I think that is simply me. The provided YouTube link didn’t lead specifically to this door but did lead to installation of a similar door. Multiple ways to contact the seller are included in case of questions or concerns (I didn’t need to). TIP: the instruction booklet doesn’t say this but I highly recommend fully charging the battery via USB prior to installation. This chicken door is highly convenient and works well. I love its many features and recommend it. ... show more
