Bought this un June 2017 as a replacement of the one we had purchased 14 years earlier. Today, 11/3/22 just started smelling hot. Discovered the HEPA two filter system. Let me just say, "This vacuum SUCKS"!!! Let me just clarify - that is what you want any vacuum to do and this one does it very well. It is extremely quiet, takes up very little space in the garage and looks outstanding!! When we initially installed this vacuum we did not have the hose kit yet so we used a small piece of wire to "jump" the contacts in one of the wall outlets. Needless to say we could not open any of the other outlets due to the suction power. Since acquiring a hose kit the vacuum has not lost any of the suction power. I think it vacuums better than the Hoover I've had for years. The unit can barely be heard. It's loud enough to let you know it is on but you have to be listening for it. Cars driving down the street are usually louder. For the price and quality I do not see how anyone could complain about this unit. ... show more

I bought this a few months ago so I could vacuum my whole house without emptying a basket multiple times. I have two dogs in the house that shed like crazy (Husky/Shepherd and Chow/Shepherd mixes), and this thing keeps up with no problems. The system is very quiet, especially when the muffler is attached and it is blowing outside. Probably the only things I could ask for out of this are a bigger catch basket (I empty it about once a month) and the connectors for the remote operation low voltage wires to be included with the unit. If you're in the market for a central vacuum replacement or a brand new system for your house, this is probably as far as you need to look. ... show more

I had an old Nutone and I needed to replace it and I was hoping for an easy swap out and new one in. Everything went pretty easy the only thing I had to really change was the mount on the wall to hold the unit. There is a delay as everyone says when it starts but it works great so happy. After cleaning around the house I wanted to see how much was in the canister and I was amazed I was shocked to see how much hair was sucked up around the filter. After seeing this I think I will be cleaning it after every use just to keep the build up down. I am very pleased with my purchase... ... show more

This unit replaced a 20 year old Beam unit. Let me say, right off the bat, the Beam had more suction. I wrote to Prolux regard exhaust temperature in excess of 150 degrees ... they stated that to be normal. Our Beam unit exhaust was in the 100 degree range. I also questioned how to use or activate the 2-speed feature (?), but they didn’t bother to answer. That said the unit functions reasonably although the powerhead is very noisy (rattles). ... show more

I purchased this to replace my 24 year old Sears unit whose motor I had replaced some years ago. The Prolux was well packaged and constructed, with foam material internally to help absorb sound. As others have mentioned I was very pleased with the sound level, even tho I did not find any spec for this. Installed in my basement, direct discharge to outside without the muffler. I use the accessory inlet to vacuum the basement without the jet roar of my previous unit but similar suction. I didn't give a 5 because people like me might ignore it. :) ... show more
