Description

The smart choice for healthy, favorful meals, fast and easy. Cooks 3 to 10 times faster than ordinary cooking methods - even faster than a microwave for many foods. Chicken, fish, meat and vegetables cook to perfection fast. Helps tenderize economical cuts of meat. Works on regular and smooth-top ranges. Cover lock indicator shows when there is pressure inside the cooker and prevents the cover from being removed until pressure is safely reduced. Includes a special rack for cooking several foods at once with no intermingling of flavors. Dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. Liquid capacity: 4 quarts. Do not use this pressure cooker for pressure frying with oil (3.8 liters). Pressure cookers have experienced renewed popularity over the last several years because cooks have rediscovered what some cooks (particularly grandmas) have known for a long time--they're really fast. And it's easy to cook healthfully with pressure cookers, since the food retains so much more of its nutrients and flavor. Presto's 4-quart stainless steel pressure cooker is a multi-purpose pot that can stand in as a conventional saucepan as well as perform the kitchen magic that pressure cookers are famous for. Chicken Cacciatore cooks in 8 minutes! This professional-quality stainless steel pressure cooker is a handy addition to any well-rounded set of kitchen tools. The heavy-duty lid locks down during cooking; an inner sealing ring keeps the steam in. In addition to a pop-up pressure indicator and a simple steam release mechanism, there is an overpressure plug that will let off steam if it builds up excessively. This pressure cooker is useful for weeknight dinners or for any meal that needs to come together quickly. An accompanying booklet contains more than 65 recipes, ranging from basic soup stocks to stews and pot roasts--even desserts like 5-minute custards! Tenderize lean cuts of beef or pork; or cook chicken, fish, or vegetables faster than you can in a microwave, and without losing moisture. Nonabrasive cleansers are best for cleaning this stainless steel pressure cooker, though occasional use of a fine metal polish will help the exterior keep its shine. The Presto 4-quart pressure cooker is fully immersible; in addition, the sealing ring should be removed after each use to allow cleaning of the inside rim of the lid. The vent pipe is simple to keep clean with a small brush or pipe cleaner, and both the air vent/cover lock and the overpressure plug are removable. The pressure cooker measures 9 inches in diameter (16-1/2 inches including handles) and 6-1/2 inches tall (including lid). Presto guarantees this pressure cooker with an extended 12-year warranty. A detailed instruction and recipe booklet is included; special safety issues that pertain to pressure cookers are clearly explained. --Garland Withers

  • WORST PRESSURE COOKER, Went bad within 2 months WORST Design
Size: 4 qt
worst pressure cooker ever. the small rubber nipple melted in the food within 2 months of use. don't buy, poor quality and health risk. Destroyed food as the rubber safety nipple melted in the food. See hole in the picture below in the lid. the hole suppose to have rubber nipple that got loose and fell into the food. Not sure why such a POOR design was chosen. I cant return it as it past the Amazon 30 day mark. ... show more

  • Do Not Purchase The Pressure Cooker!!!! ...
Size: 4 qt
Do Not Purchase The Pressure Cooker!!!!.....I have used a pressure cooker for decades. I purchased this smaller size to compliment my larger Presto pressure cooker. I used this pressure cooker a few times and the handle cracked and pieces of the handle came flying off. I called Presto and they replaced the handle....and dang the same thing happened tonight. My husband is an engineer and said that there is a design flaw with the handle. It does not hold up against the heat of the metal. We both feel that this pressure is unsafe and can cause serious injuries. Buyer Beware! ... show more

  • Basic design of generally good quality - a good value for the money
Size: 4 qt
The stainless Presto pressure cooker is a four-star unit, but I take one star off for Presto using rust-prone non-stainless screws to attach all three handles. After the very first washing in my dishwasher, they rusted. I took them out, cleaned the rust off the stainless and plastic parts, and replaced the hardware with stainless versions. I elected to use two split-ring stainless washers with each screw instead of the original lock washer type that looks like a cutting wheel with teeth. After many washings there has been no rust and no trouble. My stainless replacement parts (includes replacing the lid-lock screws, which didn't show rust but I replaced them anyway): #10-24 x 3/4 in stainless "round head combo" screws #8-32 x 3/4 in stainless "round head combo" screws #8-32 x 1/2 in stainless "flat head philips" screws #10 stainless split lock washers #8 stainless split lock washers The pressure cooker itself works fine, time tested design if simple and minimalist in features. Apart from the crappy mounting hardware for the handles, it is a fine unit for everyday use. ... show more

  • All of the functions without the buggy features
Size: 4 qt
Around Xmas time, I bought a Cuisinart pressure cooker, the high-tech kind. It lasted about a half-dozen meals problem-free, then nothing worked right again. I returned it, disappointed and sort of gave up on the idea. I made some great meals with it and I missed getting to try the cooking experiment. I read an article on Indian cooking and decided to looking for a low-tech version. So far, I've only done a couple of things with it, but it has worked wonderfully. The fact that this "passive" cooking pot costs about $10 less than a larger, high-tech electronic unit and you can immediately see why. The construction quality of this pot is terrific. The base and lid are heavy stainless steel and the gasket is about 4x as robust as the gasket on the Cuisinart unit. It's easy to use, really efficient and fast, and easy to clean. We have a glass surface electric oven and it works incredibly well on a small burner at about the same heat where I cook breakfast eggs. Initially, I was really unimpressed with this pot, but I saw so many offers to resolve complaints from the Presto folks on the negative reviews here that I decided to try their customer service. Turned out, my pot had the handle positions reversed, which screwed up the gasketing and relief valve positions. Remove two screws, move two handles, reinstall the screws and I had a great piece of cookware. ... show more

  • Holding up great after four years of constant use
Size: 4 qt
We've been using this pressure cooker constantly, several times every week, for over four years and it has performed flawlessly. Being stainless steel, it also cleans easily and no part of it has rusted. We purchased a replacement gasket and emergency pressure valve/plug to have ready for when those parts need replacing, but the original parts are holding up fine. We paid a little over $42 for this in early 2016 and consider it a terrific value. It appears to be selling for a few dollars less now. Would we buy it again? Absolutely, but it appears we may never need to. This is the perfect size (4-quart) for around 4 persons, or more, or for a couple that likes to prepare a few meals ahead of time. Very happy we purchased this pressure cooker and would recommend it to anyone. ... show more

  • Caution

PLEASE make sure you check the rubber piece inn the lid, directly across from the handle! Using mine newly purchased cooker for the first time it popped off thereby soaking myself and my entire kitchen in bean juice!! ThankGod it did not explode!! Very unhappy

  • Very effective so far
Size: 4 qt
I read recently that cooking my food fast is the healthiest way to cook. According to that theory, speed helps keep nutrients from deteriorating over longer cooking times. I bought this Presto pressure cooker for that reason. I am very happy I did. I cooked tough beans very fast (dried northern beans, and dried fava beans)!! Cooking was uniform, and the dancer thing, and all other pieces worked as advertised. Cleaning the stainless steel pot was relatively easy too. A little pricey for its size, but otherwise, I am very satisfied, and I recommend it for a healthier cooking style! ... show more

  • Cheap Handles
Size: 4 qt
After about 5 uses, the handle/screws on my pressure cooker had a failure. During cooking, the handle snapped off around the area where the screws attach. As the handle appears to be a molded plastic construction, it was not repairable. The handle seems to have over-heated in a weak section of the plastic, causing it to snap and go flying across the stove. The correct amount of heat was applied during cooking and there was no flame curling around the edge of the bottom to potentially heat the handle. The body of the pressure cooker seems to be of sound construction, but the parts that need to be attached upon receipt are not the same quality. I would not advise buying this product. ... show more
