Description

The smart choice for healthy, favorful meals, fast and easy. Cooks 3 to 10 times faster than ordinary cooking methods - even faster than a microwave for many foods. Chicken, fish, meat and vegetables cook to perfection fast. Helps tenderize economical cuts of meat. Works on regular and smooth-top ranges. Cover lock indicator shows when there is pressure inside the cooker and prevents the cover from being removed until pressure is safely reduced. Includes a special rack for cooking several foods at once with no intermingling of flavors. Dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. Liquid capacity: 8 quarts (7.6 liters). Pressure cookers have experienced renewed popularity over the last several years because cooks have rediscovered what some cooks (particularly grandmas) have known for a long time--they're really fast. And it's easy to cook healthfully with pressure cookers, since the food retains so much more of its nutrients and flavor. Presto's 8-quart pressure cooker is a multi-purpose pot that can stand in as a conventional soup pot as well as perform the kitchen magic that pressure cookers are famous for. Chicken Cacciatore cooks in 8 minutes! And it's big enough for home canning, too. (The USDA recommends pressure canning as the only safe method for low- acid foods such as vegetables, meats, and poultry.) This durable, polished- aluminum pressure cooker is an economical addition to any well-rounded set of kitchen tools. The heavy-duty lid locks down during cooking; an inner sealing ring keeps the steam in. In addition to a pop-up pressure indicator and a simple steam release mechanism, there is an overpressure plug that will let off steam if it builds up excessively. This pressure cooker is useful for weeknight dinners or for any meal that needs to come together quickly. An accompanying booklet contains more than 65 recipes, ranging from basic soup stocks to stews and pot roast--even desserts like Oatmeal-Apple Crisp! Tenderize lean cuts of beef or pork; or cook chicken, fish, or vegetables faster than you can in a microwave, and without losing moisture. Nonabrasive cleansers are best for cleaning this polished aluminum pressure cooker, though occasional use of a fine metal polish will help the exterior keep its shine. The Presto 8-quart aluminum pressure cooker is fully immersible; in addition, the sealing ring should be removed after each use to allow cleaning of the inside rim of the lid. The vent pipe is simple to keep clean with a small brush or pipe cleaner, and both the air vent/cover lock and the overpressure plug are removable. The pressure cooker measures 11-1/2 inches in diameter (17 inches including handles) and 9 inches tall (including lid). Presto guarantees this pressure cooker with an extended 12-year warranty. A detailed instruction and recipe booklet is included; special safety issues that pertain to pressure cookers are clearly explained. --Garland Withers

  • Not perfect, but pretty close.

I upgraded from a 6 quart to this 8 and I love it. It has it's quirks, tho. The handle doesn't seem to want to stay tight, so with using it several times a week, I have to re-tighten the screw every few weeks. It's aluminum, so it discolors/stains easily. It is nice to finally be able to cook things and have some leftovers, tho. Between my husband and moose of a 14 yr old son, the 6 quart just couldn't make enough to make leftovers a possibility. I've never been disappointed in any of my Presto pressure cookers, from my original hand-me-down I got from my mom, to my 6 quart, to this. I love that I can start with frozen food and have a meal in less than an hour. It's a life and time saver. ... show more

  • The heavy bottom will give your meats a good sear, then add liquid
Color: Silver
You don't need the fancy bells and whistles of an electric pressure cooker. The heavy bottom will give your meats a good sear, then add liquid, seal it up, and watch it dance. Open it in a fraction of the time it takes to cook roasts, whole chicken, pulled pork, and voila! The most tender juicy meat you've ever had. The many safety features mean that you don't have to wonder if you'll be painting your kitchen walls with dinner. Easy to use. Be sure to follow the enclosed cooking guide for cook times. I use my pressure cooker 3-5 times a week, I couldn't live without it now. ... show more

Color: Silver
Initially I really liked it. It was fairly easy to put toghether and dinner was done in half an hour . However the food had a "metallicy" tatste to it . I thought it was just a fluke and made 3 more meals in it and same thing ! I ordered the aluminum because it was cheaper but obviously the stainless steel would have been a bette investment . I threw the box away so now I have to see if I can return it at all . ... show more

  • Doesn't stay together - Poor Product & Customer Service
Color: Silver
Our first pressure cooker was a Presto which lasted for years. When it finally died on us we decided to go to an electric version. After 3 versions from different manufacturers, we decided to go back to the reliable Presto Pressure Cooker. I wish that I could say that it was the same one that we had previously purchased. This was a problem from the moment that we got it. It did not seem like Presto had provided the right hardware to attach the handles to the pot. We put the pot together, it seemed to work so we went with it. Within about 3 uses, the handle was loosening, so we were unable to put the lid on the pot. When we looked further into it, the screw that they had provided for the bottom handle had become lose and the threads were stripped. We emailed Presto two times with no response from them. I will no longer be purchasing products from this company. I am disappointed with this product and the poor customer service from this company. ... show more

  • Highly Recommended!
Color: Silver
This is very easy to use and works wonderful, putting the handles on was no problem at all. I did buy a different Presto pressure cooker the same days as I did this one. You never know when you might need to cook more than one things at a time. Both work wonderful this doesn't have the release that the other one I bought does but I don't feel it needs to since I have the other one. Everything was evenly cooked with lots of liquid still in the pot when opening. It did not take long for the pressure to build up or come down once you take it off the burner. It is wonderful quality that will be used for years to come passing them down to my children and if they are like my caners to my grandchildren. I was looking at the electric ones at the same time I was this one and felt I would give this one a try, I won't be buying a electric one. I have some Presto caners that are 20 years old still good as new. Presto in my book is one of the highest quality products you can buy, they last long and you get lots of use out of them. I use this every week, sometimes a few times a week and have no problem at all. The price is a steal you won't go wrong if you pick this up you will be as delighted as I am I am sure. ... show more

  • Works Magnificently!!
Color: Silver
I have been cooking beans in my croc pot for the longest time. It had always taken me at least a couple hours to make before. After using this Pressure Cooker, I was able to make not only beans in just a couple of minutes, but also was able to make many types of food. You can make pastas, rice, beans, and even steamed veggies in a matter of a couple of minutes. It is very easy to clean too. I would recommend this product to anyone that is tired of having to wait obscene hours in order to eat. Thanks again! I am going to make some Brazilian black beans right now. ... show more

  • It's a real "Presto"
Color: Silver
My husband found this in your Returned/Still Good Yet listing. Very satisfied with it - (you're right, it was unused & I got to screw on the handles) - Right size, right weight, and the time-honored mechanism I prefer. So, we are using it... perfectly okay, the only thing that doesn't remind me of my mother's dreadnought Presto, is the way these selfsame handles feel - maybe a little lightweight & wiggly. BUT, like I said it's a Presto & you should be able to order a handle later as easily as a seal or a rocker. Memories are coming back, of learning to cook with one of these as a kid. I like it! & my Dear Husb might be a little in awe of me. ... show more
