I've had a few various power Smith ash vacuums, that I use for a pellet stove. While they work they're great, suction is always plenty, and filter system works well, but they do seem to have a defined life, once motor goes it's unfortunately time to buy a new one. Overall, this meets my expectations. My only complaint is the mesh filter. The filter can be removed and rinsed to make cleaning much easier, which is great; however, when you're using this vacuum, it is most likely in the middle of winter. I'm not going to wash in my sink or tub - I'd prefer to clean it outside. I've resorted to cleaning it in the snow. Other than that, vacuum works great. ... show more

So far so good! This unit works very well and does a great job. Plenty of suction and easy to operate. The metal lined hose is nice just in case you suck up a warm ember by accident. The HEPA type filter does a great job of preventing ash from exiting the exhaust on the unit. The only issue I have is that the motor runs hot and the thermal overload kicks in and shuts down the unit. It takes several minutes for it to "Reset"! First time this occurred I thought that something went wrong with the unit. Other than that the vacuum saves time and effort in cleaning out the fireplace. I burn a lot of wood in the winter and this is a good tool to have. ... show more

This product works well for my grill/smoker combo unit, the Pit Boss Austin XL. It's a pellet grill/smoker that mostly uses indirect heat - by burning the pellets below a metal sheet. But the ashes just collect there. This vacuum works well to clean them up, ensuring a good cook for the next time.

This product is great. It has a handle that folds at the top, feels like metal lined tubing for the hose. I'm able to clean out two pellets stoves for a couple weeks before I have to empty. It can also clean out a significant amount of unburned pellets. I would purchase this again.
