  • Very nice machine
Excellent brightness & color. My intent was to show videos & art photography, so I need high dynamic range to preserve detail in shadows and highlights. The projector provides it, in both normal and ECO modes, during the day in rooms with big windows. I do find it helpful to dim flourescent task lighting. Howver, the darks in photo are not really dark, as you expect them to be on a high-quality monitor. I was able to stream video and audio from my MacBook Air over the projector's LAN, in "Quick" mode. I've no need to set up multiple computers in Advanced mode. I downloaded the wifi app to my iPhone, and can show limited content--still photos, PowerPoint/Keynote presentations, &c. However, the wired connection with a VGA adaptor is better. That shows the phone or iPad screen directly, in portrait or landscape. Recently I showed a TED talk from the iPhone to friends, and paused occasionally for discussion. It worked perfectly while the video played, but the screen blanker kicked in when the discussion pause ran over 2 minutes. Next time I'll remember to disable the screen lock. Glad I didn't buy the 1776W. The only difference is that the USB key for quickly switching from computer to computer comes with the 1776W. That only works with Windows, not Macs, as I learned from the written documentation. Maybe I could also have gotten satisfactory results and saved money with the 1761W, which has 2600 lumens instead of 3000. Decided not to take the chance. It does run hot, and after 30 minutes one side feels uncomfortably hot when putting it back into its case. Easy enough to handle without touching the hot side. ... show more

  • Great size and fit for travel.
This is a great projector. Items of note: For single use, many will probably be fine putting projector in eco mode to hush the fan. The fan noise likely will not be a factor for larger presentations. Also the display is much brighter when out of eco mode. The slide on the lens effectively mutes the display in eco mode and normal mode. The slide in eco mode almost sounds as if the projector has been turned off, not so in normal mode. However, there is a shutdown timer that the user needs to be aware of that will cause a wait and maybe an embarrassing moment for speaker while the projector warms up again. Wireless: The unit does work in this mode and is pretty simple to set up using the equipment that ships with item. I had no success connecting with the projector without included software. Once I installed software on my computer I was able to connect with the device. Streaming video and some special effects range from clunky to almost acceptable in the wireless mode. Perhaps this will be overcome with the new wireless ac technology coming out. Anyway for now no wireless streaming of anything but static slides. Sometimes even transitions are a little clunky in this mode. With those drawbacks the feature is still really handy especially in an office room or with small groups. Also of note, presenter view will not work with the wireless software included. It will only mirror your screen, not use it as a separate monitor. Hope this helps. ... show more

  • Very pleased and impressed with this projector!
After comparing models, functions, manufactures and prices for several weeks to find a small but powerful projector; this is the one. I just returned from a business trip to Europe and carried it in my backpack over and back. During the 15 minute set-up prior to my four hour presentation and walk-through of our enterprise software, I realized the client's built-in system was not going to display our application bright enough (third floor conference room with wall windows) nor with enough detail/resolution. Within five minutes I switched over to the Epson 1771W via the USB and on we went. The kerning worked great (the conf. table to screen height difference was significant), the brightness was great, and there were no issues when I switched from my PC to my Mac and back. Some prior reviewers mentioned the fan noise and yes, you will notice it, but it is not obtrusive. The unit is slim, light, very bright, high resolution, and easy to use. I fully recommend! ... show more

  • ... set up the projector this morning and it is excellent. Very bright
Just set up the projector this morning and it is excellent. Very bright, even in a sunlit room. Small enough to be quite portable. Autofocus, keystone, etc. makes it a breeze to set up. The only downside is that it ships with a CD with the drivers. Since many laptops today skip the CD drive, you have to be smart enough to go to the website the download the drivers. Don't confuse this with the cheap (sub $150) projectors. I tried two of them and there is absolutely no comparison. They are not meant for a professional presentation. This one is. ... show more

  • The perfect travel projector
Just like the others in the PowerLite line, it's bright (for it's size), and the features are great. It's also in a super compact size, so it fits very well with the laptop when traveling (which I do very often). From my experience with projectors for travel, and in general, Epson makes one of the best, and this line is one I'll keep coming back to for additional projectors for the office (no more Benq, and no more Optima). Oh, and don't even think those LED ones are up to snuff just yet. Yes, they may have a diminutive size, but they just can't output the lumens needed for a display under overhead lights and in a room where the presentation counts. ... show more
