  • This thing is a total game changer.
Color: Carbon Gray DLC Size: 51mm
If you purchase this watch, it alone will not get you in shape. Only you can do that, but this watch sure can help. I originally had an AWU1, and it did its initial intended purpose excellent - calls, alerts, texts, etc without having to dig out my phone. It was also great for helping me to find said phone lol But when it came time to use it for fitness, I just found it severely lacking. I tried different apps, but honestly, I felt like the AWU1 was more smartphone, then fitness tracker, so time to try something else. My gym partner was training for a big race in the sierras, and pulled the trigger on this exact watch, and he really nerded out on all the data you could track. I guess it was contagious, because I got one next, and have not looked back. I did not know what I didn’t know… It took me a few days trying different layouts, and learning its logic, but now that I put the time and effort in, this thing is so easy to use. And let’s just clear the elephant out of the room. Battery life……. It’s amazing. I was lucky to get 2.5-3 days out of my AWU1. I am now getting 3 + weeks in between charges. It’s been very comfortable to wear all day and night, the 51mm size is perfect (for me) to see while I am running. Durability seems up there, but it still is a watch. Time will tell for me, but my gym partner has had his way longer than me, and he is pretty hard on stuff, so I’m not really too worried. I did buy some face protectors because it does get subjected to bumps at work and in the gym, and they seem to be doing the trick. Value for the money……. this will be dependent on just how much you use the functionality of this watch. This watch is not a cheap throwaway toy. It is a highly functional tool, which I myself, use the heck out of this since I got it. In my line of work, I am highly dependent on a reliable watch, and my health. This serves both. Like I said earlier, once I took the time to get this laid out just how I wanted it, it is a breeze to use, and as a watch, a timer, wake up alarm, and a fitness tracker, this thing has checked all the boxes for me, and it has been so helpful not only as a means of measuring and tracking my fitness, but giving real time, in my face data, and thus, a mirror of accountability. I can also share my workout data with my partner, and since he has the same watch, we are now speaking apples to apples. This is an expensive product, but if in five years I can get my fitness age down another 4-5 years it is worth the investment. Plus, this price point puts some skin in the game. Put up, or shut up, or be a poser. Update 6/20/26 - just took this out on a 9.5 mile hike using the map feature where you can push maps to the Garmin Connect app and upload them to the watch. This was awesome. There are four screens of available data. I had this watch hooked up to a Garmin HRM600 heart rate monitor so I could try to keep things in the zone. When you are off the map screen (which I was the vast majority of the time) there is still a pointer that confirms the direction of the trail or map course which I found very handy. I ended up using the GPS for around 7 hrs, and it only dropped battery life by a 4-5 days (not anything to worry about when you already have 14 days of battery life to start with. Another cool feature that I didn’t know about, but really liked was one of the available screens displayed time of day & a graphic of window of sunrise to sunset and how much time until sunset. (Very handy in decision making) I’m still learning this thing, but I have to say that I think this is the best overall fitness/utility tool I have ever purchased. I have had more than a few Garmin watches/ gps in the past, but this one takes the cake. I use the heck out of this. ... show more

  • Perfect Watch ! Perfect Watch !
Color: Carbon Gray DLC Size: 51mm
I love this garmin fenix 8 pro! I retired my Apple Watch Ultra 2 with these fenix 8 pro. They are better all around and battery last for a long time I don’t need to worry about charging them everyday like my Apple Watch.

  • Great watch, looks good.
Color: Graphite Size: 47mm
Great watch. Looks good, band replacement is a snap, with many good looking alternatives from the original. Good looking and useful faces. Battery life is great. Many useful biometrics measured, like HRV and sleep. Exercises easy to select, and not as easy to accidentally wipe workout data with an errant swipe, which was my gripe with my Vivoactive 4. Has frozen step data only once, but seems fine after a reset and updates. Very happy with this watch so far. Only truly frustrating experience I had was trying to order the watch directly from Garmin. Absolutely nothing worked, no method of payment was accepted by their system, like I was some kind of deadbeat or something. So I ordered it through Amazon and bada-boom, it was here in a coupla days. ... show more

  • Awful
Color: Carbon Gray Size: 47mm
I can’t properly express how disappointed I am, but I will give it a go: This is the smartwatch experience from 2016. The onboarding experience was restarting both my iPhone and the watch a couple times until it managed to pair properly. You will input payment information three separate times because nothing carries over to anything else in the Garmin “ecosystem.” You have an app for everything. One for maps, one for connecting the watch, one for managing watch faces (and buying them), one for messaging, and I’m sure there’s an app I have downloaded that I probably need. Interfacing with the settings is an unintuitive, bug riddled mess. Sometimes, in one of their phone apps, a page will simply go blank with no escape hatch except to restart. When I tap on watch faces, why doesn’t it show me the built in Garmin watch faces? Is this to get me to go buy some? Speaking of buying some, often times you’ll see one that looks nice, has good reviews, and then buy it to discover that you just spent 5 bucks on some vibe coded mess. Interfacing with the watch feels like slogging through mud. There is no tap where you get instant feedback, whether visual or haptic. It always feels like you’re pressing a button from 800 miles away. The buttons as mushy, the haptic buzz motor lazy, and often times your first tap on the screen doesn’t register. I can’t fathom how this wasn’t a targeted experience. The band it comes with is Walmart Casio in the budget bin territory. Flimsy crap. The thin aluminum clasp rattles. Why does the always on display dim to a sad, off-purple hue? Why can’t I disable the sleep schedule? Why is the default flashlight button a double tap on the top left so that my hand is in the way to reflect the light back into my eyes to blind me? Why does raising the device to face me only wake the screen 25 percent of the time? These questions and more should be asked by the devs. All of the above needs to be understood in the lens of an Apple Watch Ultra. This watch costs 25% more than an AWU and deliver such a terrible experience that I don’t understand the value except for those who absolutely need multi day battery life; but then why are you buying an AMOLED version? I just don’t get it. It’s genuinely bad except for battery life, and that’s if you’re fine losing connectivity features. If you bring it “on par” (it’s not and will never be on par) with an Apple Watch in terms of connectivity, the battery life drops straight down to under two days. The “good” aka the minimum viables: It seems to fit fine, despite its cheap band. It is very light weight. I like the flashlight and that it has a red mode. Don’t buy this thing. Buy an Apple Watch Ultra 3, a small carbon fiber shell battery, and then use the extra 400 bucks for a rockin pair of hiking boots or a couple pairs of trail runners. Garmin: please fix your garbage. ... show more

  • Full Featured and Durable Smartwatch
Color: Carbon Gray DLC Size: 51mm
Fantastic upgrade replacing a Fenix 7x Pro. I love the bright AMOLED display and carbon grey finish, and how all the watch bands from my other watch fit perfectly. The 51MM is huge but fits my wrist and provides me plenty of screen real estate to read and respond to email and text messages, and participate with the all the useful apps. The standalone satellite and LTE calling and messaging require those you connect with have the Garmin Messaging App installed - I signed up for the trial and quickly realized since I’m a suburban explorer I had no use for these features. For me the brighter display was worth the upgrade to PRO. ... show more

  • Nothing better
Color: Carbon Gray DLC Size: 51mm
These garmin fenix watches are amazing. I had the 7 and replaced it with the 8. 7 was still going strong. Upgraded for a few of the new options. Health tracking is pretty accurate. I have the scale and blood pressure cuff as well. I use it to track water intake and calories as well with the app. All sync together nice. When I ride motorcycle or drive on rough roads it tracks some steps so not real accurate there. Battery life is amazing ... show more

  • Big improvement over my Fenix 7x Sapphire Solar
Color: Carbon Gray DLC Size: 51mm
I used a Fenix 7x Sapphire Solar for approximately 2yrs. Over that time the battery had begun to show degradation. I had begun to average about 10 days before charges. The biggest upgrade with this Fenix 8 is the AMOLED display which is fantastic. Software functionality has also been improved a bit. Even with the AMOLED display, im still getting a minimum of 2 weeks of heavy use (I use the LED light a lot) between charges. The comfort is great, but may be a bit large for those with small wrists. I let my adult daughter try it on and she said NO WAY, too big. The functions are simple and easy. The display is durable and and holds up to me involuntarily banging it into the occasional door knob. Wouldn't wear it working on vehicles though. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the price, which is a bit too expensive. ... show more
