It works well, but there a few features/changes that I would make. I don't like the "buttons" on the cook top surface, sometimes when I've made a mess, I like to wipe it up right away, especially since the cooktop is cool to the touch. But sometimes I run a towel over the power button and it shuts off. Also, I usually use the °F setting, which requires 3 button presses. It's fine, but why can't I just have 3 buttons. Obviously the answer is cost cutting and I am welcome to spend three times more for a feature costs 50¢ to implement. I also don't like that it starts at the high temp. Every time I use it, it takes a bunch of button presses to bring the temp down and that kind of annoying for me, but it's probably a deal-killer for folks with limited power generation capabilities (Rv's, boats, etc) because the high initial power is going to trip your breakers if you don't have a high-watt generator and I don't see the point. It doesn't make it better for me and it doesn't help anybody else either as far as I can tell. Other than that though, it's a cool piece of kit at a great price and I'd recommend it. ... show more

This unit sounds good initially. Wider temperature spread and control, lower cooking silhouette, and a broad tabletop really makes this unit appealing. Three or four months after I bought it the unit began making a muffled whiring sound. At this point in time I have stopped using the unit completely because the noise is unbearable and of course it's out of warranty. Spend your money wisely and avoid this unit. ... show more

Friends recommended for hot pot at home. I love it. The price is good. Some people said that the sound is a little bit loud when you turn it on. I think the volume is fine, if you put the pot on it and actually use it. Will recommend to others.

I am looking at replacing my entire cooktop in the future and I’m considering induction but, before paying over $1k I wanted to try the technology with a single burner. I’ve been waiting for this particular one to go on sale. I chose this one because I wanted to precisely control the temperature. Others single burner units are either low-price with preset settings or extremely overpriced with precision control. Got a great Black Friday deal. Tried right away. Love the technology but especially love I can manually control this temps between 100 - 520°F. Fan is a little loud but figured it’s a fair trade off for the price and precision. ... show more

I rarely return something but this was an exception. This will boil things quickly, but I noticed when I boiled water for pasta that the bubbles seemed to come up in a circle. That was fine and the pasta cooked well, as one would expect. I think for soups, stews, pasta, and other liquid foods, it is probably fine. When I tried browning some breakfast sausage though, it was if the center of the frying pan would not get hot unless it was on the highest setting, which seems a lot for three small sausage links. If I moved them in a circle around the center it did better, but it still did not seem to want to cook evenly. Maybe had I turned it up to the highest it would eventually heat the pan evenly, but if you have to do that, then why bother having a temperature conrtol. I don't think it was defective, I think that it was perhaps designed that way. My guess (and this is only a guess) is that it uses a large, single inductor loop. I would imagine that much more expensive units might use a combination of different diameter loops, but again, this is just a guess. As an FYI, we will soon be building a new house, and I had thought about doing an induction cooktop, but having never used one, I thought I would buy one and try it out. This was inconclusive though because as I said, I suspect it uses a single induction ring and my bet is that expensive units have two or even three rings, but this is absolutely a guess. It is also quite loud. It makes as much nose as the range hood over my current stove. ... show more
