  • Works well, just like a Crock Pot should
Color: Black Size: 8 Quarts
Admittedly I am a Crock Pot snob. Let me explain. I love the old, original Crock Pots. I have actually burned out two, my husband pulled one off the counter and broke it, and I now have 3 of them in my pantry. One of those was bought in an antique shop, in the original box and packaging never having been used. But when wanting to make a large batch or spaghetti, chili, or whole chicken one was just not large enough. Enter a different brand 6qt slow cooker. After only about two years the writing was worn off of the dial, the metal portion was stained beyond belief, and the dial itself was rickety. It was unreliable often over heating and boiling when it should not have been. So, when Prime Day came around and I discovered the 8qt Crock Pot brand slow cooker it was love and first sight. Generally, I am not fond of the newer removable ceramic cookers for several reasons. It is too easy to damage or break the ceramic removable pot, the cords are way too short, but primarily because there is no insulation whatsoever; just brushing up against the cooker can quickly burn. When bustling around the kitchen that can happen all too easily, but I understand that is the way they are made these days; grin and bear it I will. Even though it is touted to make clean up easier, I am not sure that is the case with any removable pot. When the new 8qt beauty arrived, despite the removable ceramic pot, it was quite large and very nice. After washing it and of course reading the booklet (sans cookbook which was noted in the description) I plugged it in and began experimenting. It was very simple to master and actually quite impressive. There are 3 heat choices and when programmed for cook time, it automatically switches to warm when that time has elapsed which I found reassuring; it can be programmed for up to 20 hours. It appeared to cook low on low and then high on high as it should. I have already used it 3 times. First it cooked an 8lb pork shoulder to perfection. Next 16 chicken thighs were used in a recipe my son calls, "Mississippi Mud Chicken," which he got from a local fireman. Lastly, just on a whim, I wondered how boiled peanuts would fare in the slow cooker. Half of the peanuts were boiled on the stove the traditional way and the other half were cooked in the Crock Pot on high for between 6-8 hours both pots at a slow boil. As it turns out, both were done at the same time and tasted exactly the same-texture, flavor and all. According to the description, this slow cooker can prepare enough food for up to 10 people, so no more multiple crock pots for get togethers. Despite no insulation, this programmable, stainless steel Crock Pot is going to be well used and well loved. Top 3 Likes: -Quality construction that is sturdy and solid enabling cooking to occur exactly as it should and as is programmed -When cooking time has elapsed it automatically converts to warm mode -Digital programming is easy to perform, distinct, well lit, with easily visible numbers Top 3 Dislikes: -The ceramic insert is quite heavy -Arthritic hands may need help -Bits of residue need to be scrubbed out of the ceramic insert after use ... show more

  • THAT CLEVER LITTLE INDENTING ALONG THE CERAMIC PART!
Color: Black Size: 8 Quarts
This is my second Crock-Pot brand purchase. The first one lasted at least 20 years. It still works great but, I cannot read the digital numbers so I cannot tell how many hrs to program it before it shuts off. I guess I could have tried to have it fixed but that seemed too complicated. Buying a new one was just easier. I looked carefully at the others and discounted them one by one. I dont need a carrying lid (I never had to bring my crock pot anywhere), I dont want the French style water cooking method, I didnt want round, etc. One GREAT little feature I notice on this new one was it has 4 indentation marks built into the rim of the ceramic piece. I realized that little indent allows all the steam that builds up on the inside of the lid to drop back into the pot. VERY NICE! ... show more

  • No Lid Locking, But A Great Product!
Color: Black Size: 8 Quarts
This crockpot has saved a ton of cooking time! The quality is very good. There isn't really a lid lock mechanism but the lid does fit nicely. The programmability works very well and my food stayed warm after cooking time. This is a wonderful value for the money spent!

  • Works well but caution......
Color: Black Size: 8 Quarts
Just for clarification, I'm not rating this particular product, just a caution to buyers about all crock pots in general. I bought this in November 2022 so I've only had it a little over a year. I love cooking in a crock pot and am not partial to any one particular brand as I've had several different brands over the years. I just love the ease of putting the ingredients in and having it ready when I get home in the evening. And until now, I was never concerned with leaving a crock pot unattended. But I cooked a roast two days ago, as I normally do, put the roast in mid morning, cooked on high for a few hours then reduced temp to low to continue cooking. Thankfully this was on Sunday so I was home most of the day. I also use the crock pot liner bags because they make cleanup so much easier but this time I noticed the liner had failed and the juices had leaked through and baked on the crock during the cooking process. While cleaning the countertops, I noticed a puddle of grease underneath the crock pot. Upon inspection, I realized that the crock liner itself had a crack along the side and during cooking, the grease and juices had seeped through onto the bottom of the crock base and out the two drain holes, which I never even realized were there since I never imagined food making through the crock liner the bottom of the cooker. I have granite tops, which are sturdy but still porous, so I now have a large grease stain on my countertop. I'm hoping to find a product that will pull the grease out but I'm not hopeful. As I stated, I always use the crock pot liner bags so I couldn't say if the crack was in the crock pot when I got it or if it happened at some point while I've had it. Nevertheless, my advice is to inspect your crock pot when you get it and periodically over time to make sure of no cracks to avoid a mess like mine. ... show more

  • The Ultimate Set-It-and-Forget-It Workhorse for Families!
Color: Black Size: 8 Quarts
If you have a large family to feed or love hosting game-day parties, the Crock-Pot 8-Quart Programmable Slow Cooker in Black Stainless Steel is an absolute must-have. It’s a massive upgrade from the old manual dial models, offering the perfect blend of modern tech and rugged reliability. Why this 8-quart slow cooker earns 5 stars: Massive Capacity: The 8-quart oval stoneware is huge. It easily fits a 6-lb chicken or a large roast with room for all the veggies. It’s designed to feed 10+ people, making it the king of meal prepping for the week. Smart Programming: The digital timer allows you to set cook times from 30 minutes to 20 hours. Once the time is up, it automatically shifts to the Auto Warm setting, so your dinner stays at the perfect temperature without overcooking while you’re stuck in traffic. Stunning Modern Finish: The Black Stainless Steel looks incredibly sleek and high-end on the counter. Unlike traditional stainless, it’s remarkably fingerprint-resistant, so it stays looking clean even in a busy kitchen. Cleanup is a Breeze: Both the removable stoneware and the glass lid are dishwasher safe. The non-stick surface of the ceramic insert makes it easy to rinse off even the stubborn, "burnt-on" edges of a stew or chili. Reliable Simplicity: It focuses on doing one thing perfectly: slow cooking. There are no overly complicated buttons—just a clear, easy-to-read countdown timer that takes the guesswork out of meal planning. ... show more

  • Performs well.
Color: Black Size: 8 Quarts
It does the job. Heats up quickly. I love the extra large capacity. The one thing I don’t like about it is how cheap and lightweight the plastic housing is. My old crock pot had both a very heavy insert as well as a substantial outer unit. I wish the heating element of my old crock pot hadn’t given out, but I did have it for 28 years. As they say, “they don’t make things as good as they used to”. The price was great as it was on sale. It sold out quickly. It’s the real Crock Pot brand and not just a slow cooker. ... show more
