Admittedly I am a Crock Pot snob. Let me explain. I love the old, original Crock Pots. I have actually burned out two, my husband pulled one off the counter and broke it, and I now have 3 of them in my pantry. One of those was bought in an antique shop, in the original box and packaging never having been used. But when wanting to make a large batch or spaghetti, chili, or whole chicken one was just not large enough. Enter a different brand 6qt slow cooker. After only about two years the writing was worn off of the dial, the metal portion was stained beyond belief, and the dial itself was rickety. It was unreliable often over heating and boiling when it should not have been. So, when Prime Day came around and I discovered the 8qt Crock Pot brand slow cooker it was love and first sight. Generally, I am not fond of the newer removable ceramic cookers for several reasons. It is too easy to damage or break the ceramic removable pot, the cords are way too short, but primarily because there is no insulation whatsoever; just brushing up against the cooker can quickly burn. When bustling around the kitchen that can happen all too easily, but I understand that is the way they are made these days; grin and bear it I will. Even though it is touted to make clean up easier, I am not sure that is the case with any removable pot. When the new 8qt beauty arrived, despite the removable ceramic pot, it was quite large and very nice. After washing it and of course reading the booklet (sans cookbook which was noted in the description) I plugged it in and began experimenting. It was very simple to master and actually quite impressive. There are 3 heat choices and when programmed for cook time, it automatically switches to warm when that time has elapsed which I found reassuring; it can be programmed for up to 20 hours. It appeared to cook low on low and then high on high as it should. I have already used it 3 times. First it cooked an 8lb pork shoulder to perfection. Next 16 chicken thighs were used in a recipe my son calls, "Mississippi Mud Chicken," which he got from a local fireman. Lastly, just on a whim, I wondered how boiled peanuts would fare in the slow cooker. Half of the peanuts were boiled on the stove the traditional way and the other half were cooked in the Crock Pot on high for between 6-8 hours both pots at a slow boil. As it turns out, both were done at the same time and tasted exactly the same-texture, flavor and all. According to the description, this slow cooker can prepare enough food for up to 10 people, so no more multiple crock pots for get togethers. Despite no insulation, this programmable, stainless steel Crock Pot is going to be well used and well loved. UPDATE!! 7/22/26 “Crock-pot brand” customer service was amazing and quick! I notified them of the issues I had with the lid not being secure & they are sending me a replacement unit free of charge! The claim process was fast, simple, and they were so kind. Changing from 4 stars, to 5 stars! 7/20/26 A classic true crock-pot. Works just as intended and feels decent quality. I do love that the controls are electronic VS a dial so I can set the timer and forget about it until finished. Automatically goes into warming mode once the time runs out. Perfect, except the fact that the lid doesn’t sit stable on the inner crock. This seems to be a manufacturing defect. In my opinion, defects like these can happen. They should have added a heat proof seal around the class lid so it could sit along the crock. See video attached. I was cooking with liquid at a reasonable level and I found that it was bubbling and rattling spraying a little bit of liquid on my counter. I used this the first day I had it. It's very easy to use & cooked up a 3# pot roast & vegetables wonderfully. I had it on for 8 hours then on warm. The meat fell apart. It's easy to clean.

So far so good. A little discoloration on the outside of the liner after first use and staining on the shell- how I do not know- but mostly came off. It works well and has a generous size and I like the oval shape. The only thing I would fix is that I do find the selection a little funny. You have to select the time after you select the level of heat or nothing's gonna happen. A small adjustment, but one that I wasn't used to because they don't make it obvious if you're not paying attention that it has not turned on or that you need to select a time right away. Maybe just my oversight. It seems to cook evenly and that was the main thing I wanted. Low and high work well. Haven't really tried warm yet, but I will echo the fact that any pre-set cooking times will default to warm afterwards if someone's not there to turn it off so that's something to keep in mind. Overall, I'm really pleased with it and I hope it will last my family and I a long time. ... show more

Best feature is you can set a timer so it does not keep running and will shut off when you are at work or out of the house.     • Not Worth the Price; Pay Attention to that Details

I haven't even used it yet and I wish I hadn't bought it. The cord is short. Too short to wrap anywhere, too long to be easy to store; it's like a permanent tail in the way. I can't even put the cord inside the unit and put the cover on it, because the cover is rickety and doesn't fit the stoneware insert well; it's a glass top with a metal edge seated against stoneware and slides and bangs around. The unit is nice and large, and the timer function will be nice. But my old 6qt broke and I had to replace it with something asap. There were things I didn't like about the 6qt and I thought going from a $30 Crock Pot to a $75 Crock Pot would have addressed them. (There was no light on the 6qt indicating it was turned on and heating, which led to dinner not being ready when I last used it, as the high setting had stopped working; and it was just a little small for my family of 6. But it had a clasping lid for transit with an insulated carrying case, and a rubber ring around the lid base for a secure seal against the stoneware, which were the best features.) Instead I just ended up with different issues on an overpriced kitchen appliance. Not excited to be stuck with this. I wish I'd have spring for the Ninja Foodie, or a better Crock Pot. Last of all, I paid $75 for this unit last week, then looked today and it's $10 off. WTH. ... show more
