  • Success in the Kitchen....Finally.
Size: 8 Quarts
I love my Instant Pot DUO80, I don't think I have enough space in this post to express all the good feelings I have regarding this purchase. I highly recommend that anyone reading this post trust your instincts and make the purchase. My Instant Pot DUO80 (8 Qt.) is not only a quality investment in terms of cooking, I also save tons and tons of time away from the kitchen (ie. less time prepping food, I can store food in the refrigerator after a meal and can reheat and serve leftovers that taste great. Enough about my idiosyncrasies in the kitchen-- let's talk about how this little beauty can cook and all the good things it can assist you with. First, I have only had mine two weeks, but I know I have made a smart decision when I bought it. Please read the manuals, there are two of them. My first meal was beef cubes, I never tasted such tender and moist beef, I set the Instant Pot to the Manual Key, I cooked my beef cubes 30 minutes then I added potatoes and carrots as well as a little corn starch this added another 15 minutes to the overall time, and when everything was done cooking C'est delicieux---magnifique. Some tips for beginners, be sure to review Youtube videos, there are plenty of them and this also allows for improvisation and necessary adjustments. Also, you can cook pretty much anything you desire. You will not be able to fry foods in the Instant Pot. I bought an 8 qt inner pot ( this is where you place your meat, or vegetables etc,) the choice to purchase a 6 Qt or 8Qt is up to you, family size is usually the determining factor. Although in my case ( I'm a bachelor) I just preferred to purchase the 8 Qt. Another thing, keeping the Instant Pot clean is important, again read the Manual. As for time controls when cooking, this part is not that complicated, If the instructions call for 12, 15 minutes, you can go over or under, the important thing is to add water, or liquid ( broth/juice) as not to burn Inner pot. The Instant Pot has a Saute' feature, and sometime I prefer using my stove to Saute', the Steam feature is very handy, today I steamed some apples and made a nice dish of apple crisp. One more thing please be careful when you begin to cook, you must use the steam release handle to seal up the Instant Pot, and then when your food is done you must use the venting ( just turn the handle ) to release the steam. The Instant Pot is not Rocket Science you don't need a certificate to get this up and running, remember that basically, the unit must 1st build up steam ( pressure cooking) and when the food is done (be very very careful) release the pressure (venting) and slowly open/ remove the lid. I am an Amazon Prime member so delivery was perfect, my Instant Pot arrived In 2-days via UPS. Very happy about that as well. I hope I was able to persuade just one person to go out there and buy this item. It's been only two weeks but I just love this unit. Also, the Instant Pot Company gives consumers a 1-year warranty. Well, tonight, while I watch NFL football, ( the NFL games are part of Amazon Prime Membership), I going to snack on the good food I cooked today. I hope I can stay awake to enjoy the game ( Protests and all). One thing I won't protest is the Instant Pot, this item is a real winner, congrats to Amazon for putting this item on the market. Very happy and satisfied customer----thanks, Amazon. - ... show more

Great product. Started using it on day 1 and have been trying different things with it. I got it mainly for the pressure cooker but am learning about all the great other options. Next up, soup.

  • I like it
Size: 8 Quarts
This is my first electric pressure cooker, my others are stove top. I actually bought it because of a story I saw on Facebook about a woman getting burned when it "blew up". I had to find out how that could happen. I am not new to pressure cookers or how they work. So I do know that in certain circumstances it can happen. But usually because of human error. First off - you have got to clean EVERY part on the lid after each use. That means taking out the ring, taking apart the rest of the lid pieces and washing all the holes. I use a thick pipe cleaner. Food and oils can build up and block the holes and that is not good. Lightly oil your rubber gasket after each use then wipe it dry with a paper towel to get off any extra. Do NOT over fill the cooker. Those guide lines on the side are there for your protection. If you over fill it can cause food to clog the vents and that is never good. This has a lot of safety features and what she said happened in the story just could not have happened the way she said. The most dangerous part of this pressure pot is the steam release and if you are not paying attention you will get hurt. When you open the steam release put a towel over your hand and keep your face away. That steam comes out fast and hot and you will get scalded if you have your face over it. turn the knob from below the steam hole and never over the top. It's not a toy but it can be so much fun if you do it right. I figure what happened to that lady is she released the vent with her face there and she just did not want to admit she made a mistake. She said she let it stand for 40 minutes to cool, the steam vent had dropped and no steam came out the release and when she took the lid off it was still under pressure. It has a safety that does not allow the lid to come off under pressure. After 40 minutes it should have been cooled down enough, the other possibility is she filled it too full and it stuck the valve shut so it looked like the pot had cooled enough. But she also said she released the steam release and nothing came out. It has a pretty good instruction book. Facebook has some good groups that are dedicated to pressure pots and you can get a lot of information there. There are also websites but I found some of the facebook sites faster for asking point blank questions. All in all, I think this is a very good unit and I use it a lot and really enjoy it. Still can't bring myself to turn it on and leave the house all day - but I don't trust my crock pot either, lol. I think it is money well spent just for the ease of preparation and not having to slave over the stove for hours and things get done faster. Pay attention to the steam release and you are ok. ... show more

  • Big upgrade from my old 8 qf instant pot!
Size: 6QT
I am a long time instant pot owner. I just upgraded. I am literally watching my pork broil above the beans it is going to be pressure cooked in, giving it a crispiness that I could not get out of my old instant pot. I was excited enough about all of the things I am going to be cooking with my new air fryer that I decided to come write this review. This is the ultimate cooking machine. Almost nothing it can't do, and it makes clean up an absolute breeze. As soon as I finish cooking, I fill the pot with hot soapy water, and let it soak. I am even curious about the dehydrate function on this. Instant pot beef jerky sounds like a fun project. I waited to buy this because my old instant pot still works, but I think this upgrade was totally worth it, even though I am currently in the middle of cooking my first meal, pork and beans, with slightly crispy pork! ... show more
