Makes great ice and a lot of it!

We love this ice machine. After reading many reviews and watching user videos, I decided on this one for its cost, ease of use and cleaning, ice production, and small size for sitting on the countertop. We use a lot of ice and our fridge ice maker does not work well sadly. We waited the recommended 24 hours, leaving the machine upright in the box. Then we loaded it with water, plugged it in, and pressed the button; it began making ice within 6 minutes. (we tossed the first 5 batches or so as rec.) It has a slight hum when it is on, but nothing bothersome to us. Some say this ice cannot be frozen, or it turns into a block of ice, but we figured out a way that works for us. Once the ice basket is full, we dump the ice in a bin in our freezer. After we get a good amount of ice in the bin, we break it up with an ice pic We may have to do this a couple of times, but we are ok with that for the amount of ice we can produce over a few hours. This is our second Silon ice machine. The first one turned on but never made ice. We returned with no hassle and ordered the one we now have. It just must have been a bad machine. Lots of hoops to jump through, but very good icemaker

Updated: I originally gave one star because of the reasons down below, but once I emailed them again and provided the video and the documentation and the photographs as they requested, they were really good about everything. They are sending me a new unit. Lots of hoops to jump through to get a replacement, but I understand that they have to make sure that they’re not being scammed for a second free icemaker. Icemaker died after six weeks. It started making clicking and grinding and popping noises, so I turned it off and turned it back on again, and it started making its normal humming noise, but will no longer produce ice. I contacted the company and gave them the Amazon order number as they requested and explained the issue, now they want me to send them an invoice document other than the order number from Amazon that I already sent them. (There is no invoice document!) They also want me to send a photograph of the back of the machine and take a video narrating the problem so they can supposedly help me troubleshoot. There is no troubleshooting to be done. The ice machine pump motor obviously burned out and stopped producing ice! I contacted Amazon as well and they told us that we would need to contact Amazon’s warranty department with no instructions on how to go about doing that. You Are Amazon, I’m talking to you! So basically I’m getting the runaround after spending almost $200 on this damn thing and having it crap out on me after six weeks of use…never again with this company ... show more

Measurements

Unfortunately I cannot speak to how it functions, as I never got the chance to use it. My issue was all about misrepresented measurements, the height in particular. I have a small counter space and needed it to fit under the cabinet. Measurement read 10.12” H so I measured not just once but several times and even asked my neighbor to double check measurement posted on website vs my actual space. I easily had enough space for 12.5”H. When I unpacked ice maker and placed it on the counter to my disappointment it was too tall! When I actually measured the ice maker it measured almost 13.0” H. I then measured the W and D only to find out none of the measurements were what was posted on website. As I said my only concern was the Height, otherwise even though not correct, the W and D would have still worked in my allotted space. It has been returned as of 12/20/24. Now my other concern is I am not comfortable trusting measurements posted. This item is not easy to handle as far as weight and size so not something I would want to unpack only to find out it has to be returned for some reason that should have never been an issue. I hope someone pays attention to this review and corrects the website very soon. Great Product, Terrible Amazon Customer Service

Product: I recently picked up the Silonn Nugget Ice Maker and I've been pretty impressed with it so far. The noise level is really manageable, which was a pleasant surprise because I've dealt with some noisy appliances in the past. It's quiet enough that it doesn't bother anyone in the house, even when we're all in the kitchen. The machine is quite efficient at making ice, and I haven’t had to fuss over it much—just use filtered water, and it runs smoothly with very little maintenance required. The nugget ice it produces is just the right size, not too big or too small, perfect for cooling drinks without diluting them too quickly. It's been especially great for making iced tea and other cold beverages on hot days. The size of the ice maker is also a good fit for my kitchen; it doesn’t take up much space but still produces a decent amount of ice. Overall, I'm really happy with this purchase. It does exactly what I need without any hassle, and having quick access to nugget ice anytime has been a game changer for my daily routines. Amazon Customer Service: Working with Amazon is a nightmare. I was expecting this product on their expected 'Prime' delivery date only for it to get delayed 3 times before they ended up cancelling it. I had to contact Amazon support and, I swear, they literally say anything to get you off the chat as fast as possible. Making false promises of credit or refunds saying that it will hit your account in however many days. I honestly don't know why I pay for Prime anymore since my inbox is littered with emails about how they are sorry about the delay with no repercussions. It's an ice machine

I really am glad I have the ice machine. The pros are it makes the sonic style ice so it makes good solid ice the purity depends on the water I put in it, I won't be moving it off the counter but if a friend has a house party or something, it's not that heavy it's portable like I'v said already, and it makes quite a bit more than my husband, son and I need. It starts working as soon as I put water in it and turn it on the ice starts coming out within 5 to 6 minutes. I don't really have a con except that it was super quiet when we first got it I couldn't believe people were complaining about it the longer we have it the louder it's seemed to get though it's still not so loud it bothers me to much just turn the TV up a point it two. ... show more

Best Cheap Icemaker Ever! We love the Silonn Nugget Ice!

This is my third mini ice maker but my first Silonn branded one. The first 2 were $50-60 jobs that made standard cubes. They both lasted about a year - even with extremely high care. We keep them clean! We ONLY use distilled water in our machines. I'm a nut about bacteria and hardwater, they should NEVER be in your machine or you'll have problems. THE GOOD: So far, the Silonn is going after OVER a year of daily use! Compared to the cheap cube ice makers, the design of this one is superior. It's VERY easy to clean and fully dry which we try to do at least once a month. The top is removable which provides access to the water feed and rotating/freeze area making it a cinch to clean and dry. The design is well executed and simple and has proven to be much more robust compared to the cube ice makers. There are less moving parts, no trays of water sitting around, and no ice to reservoir dumping mechanism. These facts lead to the best strengths of a nugget icemaker! WEAKNESS: The pump and tubing are internal with no direct access. These areas will be prone to microbial growth if you don't maintain your machine. Recommend an occasional diluted bleach flush and always run one before shutting down for an extended period (more than 48 hr). By only using distilled water, you'll avoid many problems folks have with their icemakers. SUMMARY: It has lasted a year of continuous daily use (12+ hrs/day). The ice produced is FANTASTIC! It's the real deal pellet ice, soft and chewy! It's a little slow to produce but at $150 we expected that. We looked at many nugget machines and they proved to be too complicated and VERY expensive. The GE models have horrible reviews and the others have problems too if you dig. The design of the Silonn is actually genius, it's VERY simple and my only fear is the mechanical pump, it does most of the work in this machine. I get a feeling it may die before the electronics/compressor system does. ($12 Amazon warranty to the rescue if it does!) To overcome the relatively slow nugget output, we simply bag ice at the end of the day, freeze it and let the machine sleep until morning. Speed of nugget production is a bit slow but not horrible. It's a good idea to store some bags as it makes it so you have plenty for coolers and guests. This is an EXCELLENT MACHINE after over a year of continuous use! It's started, ran and produced ice every single day. At this price point, I consider it unbeatable and I won't mind if and when it dies. It's produced 1000x it's weight in tasty and awesome ice nuggets for us! WE HIGHLY RECOMMED THIS BRAND AND MACHINE! ... show more

Fine for a short period then it sucks

The amount of ice it makes at a time is a super small amount. Even with regular frequent cleanings, it ends up getting loud and gunk builds up and after a short time of having the machine, it stopped making ice entirely. I've had this almost a year- updated! It died

Update! I had this ice maker for just over a year and it died. It had become noisy and then stopped working altogether right after the year mark. I loved it when it worked. I have had this almost a year and no one uses the fridge ice maker anymore. This ice is that perfect crunchy ice that everyone is looking for. I couldn't see paying a huge price for a countertop ice maker when I technically had an ice maker in the fridge. This one has been great. It was easy to use and setup was basically wash it out, plug it in, and fill it up. We have well water so I buy those big jugs of water at Costco to fill it. The price was great, it makes ice in about 6-7 minutes, and the ice is exactly what I wanted. The downside is that it has started to be noisy. I clean it, use bottled water, and It has plenty of space around the machine for air flow. I am hoping that it continues to function. I also wish it was a larger capacity because everyone in my house now takes "mom's ice." However, I hate clutter and appliances on my countertop so for the size of the machine it does make a decent amount. ... show more
