The main switch is at the back on the bottom. Guess using the remote is always an option. Yeah, we decided to work on our kitchen table and a cold front moved in. The item works really well for my back deck. However this is the second heater from the same company that I will have to return because it simply stops working. The first one I paid 170 for, returned it, and was able to get the second one on sale. But it just stopped working this morning. So I'd advise look at the specs and get one with comparable specs but don't buy this one. The first one lasted almost 90 days. The second one not even a month.

I was so happy when it arrived. I loved that it was brown and not black or white. And the height was perfect. I read all the instructions. The first time I plugged it in two of the “bulbs” or “tubes” sparked, popped and blew out and the unit stopped working. Returned with no problems for full refund.

I used it on my deck for an hour for the first time today and it was great as long as I sat next to it. I seems like I will have to put it in the middle and others will have to sit close to it in order for them to feel the heat. Either that or buying another one might help. Too expensive though!
