INITIAL REVIEW This review is being written after several days use of the skimmer net. Ultimately I won't know the REAL value of the product until I've used it for a full season. Durability is critically important in a skimmer net! So far, this is a TERRIFIC skimmer net. It fits the pole properly with no issues. It works great for picking up surface debris. It works even better for picking up debris on the bottom of my fiberglass pool. The "scooping front edge" even allows picking up precipitated chemical flakes on the bottom of the pool, which was a total surprise to me. The mesh size of the net is perfect. The attachment of the mesh to the plastic frame seems very secure. The ONLY negative thing I have to say is that the color is too bright and jarring. It would have been better if the color were a darker, calmer blue (like the ocean).

Im on my third one. I like this net because it strains out very fine debris from pool. Additionally, the plastic frame serms to hold up well. Plus the price is great. However, the netting material does NOT last long. Im in Arizona, and the material only lasts about one summer, if that. The netting is kind of like a slighty thicker nylon pantyhose. Sorry, cant compare to anything else. The sun will eventually make the material rip, since its thin. But it works well to skim pool until I need a new one.

I like everything about this product. The front edge is flat enough to push debris off the pool bottom or easily scoop up floating debris. The sides are very sturdy and the basket is deep enough to hold a lot before needing to be dumped. The plastic retaining clip attaches and detaches from our pool pole very easily. The fabric mesh is smooth and debris comes out easily. It dries quickly so I can store it before I’m ready to go inside. Delivery was very fast.

I bought this because my old "fine mesh" skimmer bit the dust. The Poolwhale is a nice size with rounded edges that help me get into hard to fit places in my in-ground pool. The mesh on this one is very nice, and captures the smaller debris the old one would just pass through. Bonus is the color matches the pool bottom and it looks well made. I expect skimmers to last at least 5 years, so will report back on durability.

The skimmer is well-designed and works well. The tube for attaching it to an extension pole isn't very high quality. That part is adequate for the job, but not impressive.
