I'm going to give an honest review here. I've used various helmets over the years. Older style helmets solid lens, harbor freight auto-darkening, mid range, and top end name brand helmets. This one is probably the best helmet I've ever used, with a couple of asterisks next to that statement. First off, the lens. Clear and untinted with a wide view angle. You can see everything before welding. It gives almost the same view as if you were wearing a motorcycle helmet. It darkens very quickly, and with a range wide enough to weld at almost any amperage with the perfect view. The selection of weld/cut/grind modes seems to be nearly perfect in their function. Easily one of the best lenses and views on the market. This leaves us with the only downside, the strap. Keep in mind, this ain't a major downside. The strap is much better than any cheaper helmet by a wide margin, making it the best bang for the buck. The knobs to tighten it feel just a touch cheap, but work OK, and it is placed in a very slightly awkward place in the helmet. The only time you'll notice this is if you like to wear your band up higher on your helmet, as it'll put the lens close enough to your face when you flip it down to touch your nose. Almost all helmets do this, but even 1/4" of a difference is noticeable when it comes to strap placement. Simple fix, wear the strap lower on your forehead.

I am a professional fabricator and weld a lot. Pros. The price vs what you get. This is a deal especially for a student, amateur welder or someone that welds part time. For the welder that takes care of their equipment, this helmet would work. This helmet comes with a very, very comfortable headband that is simple and easy to adjust. You can wear this helmet for hours. The auto darkening lense is the best operating lense I have had so far. I haven't been flashed once yet in two weeks of operating this unit and its shade is equal across the lense. This helmet is lightweight and feels better balanced than other helmets I have had. Cons. There is a slight level of visual distortion from the outer plastic lense. It has not been an issue while welding as its not enough of a factor to impede welding. The helmet feels thin and flimsy compared to other helmets, but on the upside, I don't think it'll crack as flexible as it is.

I was comparing this one with a $400+ Lincoln welding helmet, but the price, and viewing area on this one was unbeatable. I do believe the weight on this one is heavier which can cause some neck fatigue. About the break: so I was welding new floor pans on a car, doing a lot of work under the lift so every now and then I'd wack it really good into the lift arms, it ended up pulling out of the slot where it pivots to open and close, it broke the slot and the head gear was detached from the helmet on one side. I was able to drill a hole at the top and bottom of the slot and zip tie the head gear to it, I did the same with the other side just for added strength. If you're someone who will be welding at a table and won't be beating on it like I did it's a steal of a deal for a great helmet. And even if you do break it like I did I'm sure you can figure out how to rig it back together. Or you can just buy 4 of these instead of one expensive one.

I've used a lot of helmets over the years. This is by far my favorite. Mig welded some tricky small tubing over the weekend and used this helmet for 3-4 hours. Worked great. The ability to see color instead of shades of green is something you don't appreciate until you use it. The side viewing ports are something i like as it gives you peripheral vision, which I think is a good safety feature. Knob at your left temple makes adjustment of the shade easy over a wide range, even though I didn't really need to use it much once set. This helmet worked so well that I could forget I was wearing it. Very pleased, especially for the price. Both the pre-installed battery and the spare were too low on charge when I received them to activate the lens, but after placing under a bright light overnight, it worked fine. Ordered a few spares anyway. They are cheap. Nice that you get spare outer and inner shields. Nice that you can order a magnifier lens that slides in. Works fine if you wear glasses as well. Also an attractive helmet. Took a little trial and error to get it adjusted properly for my big head, but once I got it, it was comfortable to wear. So I really like the helmet and consider it a good value. No hesitation recommending it to others.

LYG-Q800 - The helmet was highly damaged by the Quality shipping practices of our great USPS Postal Service. I contacted Yeswelder Customer Service, they simply requested the Order #, A couple of Pictures, and My Shipping Address. Then, within three days, I received not the damaged part, but a Full Replacement of the Helmet. Great Service!!

I'm very happy with this hood. I allowed it to sit in the sun for a while to charge up the battery just in case it was low. It is super clear, super easy to see through, a wide field of view, and it goes more than dark enough for me to feel comfortable when welding for a period of time. Also very comfortable to wear, with a nice head rest(?) and adjustability.

The viewing window is big for the price. The face shields at other places at this price are about half the size viewing window. This one has the extra peripheral vision and helps me. It could be better but great for an inexpensive option for a beginner. The head strap is comfortable enough for me, I am sure there are better ones out there. I have not had any blinding issues, I set mine to highest sensitivity and shortest delay. Using it for stick welding.
