We have a 4,000 cubic foot, in-ground pool. It works, but not as fast as our last one. For the money it is fine but I have 2 problems: 1. it does not automatically shut off so I have to watch when all of the water is off the cover and unplug it. and 2. Debris gets stuck in the unit and I have to dig it out with a knitting needle. We have looked everywhere to find out if it can be opened to clean/empty debris but couldn't find an answer to that. ... show more

It might not look like it can do the job, but it does! Its tiny, the long rubber hose is wonderful to get the water flushed out, 16 feet to be exact. The unit is quite small but takes up water in a flash. You only need to hook up the rubber hose to the top of the unit. It's way better than traditional sump pumps which clog when they encounter debris and take too much time to drain. Keep the unit clean, dry and spray it clear when done. Great price, and value. We purchased a new house with an already established pool that hadn't been open in severely years and hadn't been covered ever. There was about 2ft of nasty water in it that needed to be drained. This little pump drained it in near completion in hours. Beyond impressed.

I was really happy with this little pump. I have a 14' round above ground pool. I had a winter cover plus a net cover on top of that. I took the net cover off a couple of times to get rid of the leaves and spring pollen stuff. Fortunately, both covers survived without getting any holes punched in them. I removed the mesh net cover and scooped out the pool cover water with a hand held net. I used the pump to get the remaining water off of the cover. It worked well with the hose that came with it. I had to adjust it a couple of times for kinks, but no big deal. I then removed the winter cover and scooped the thickest stuff out with a pool net. Then I put the pump into the remaining 2 feet of brown water. It took about a day, but removed almost all of the very dirty water. I used a pool brush to push the last of the water towards the pump, as suggested by another reviewer. I liked that the hose didn't drain too fast to avoid flooding. Not sure how long it will last, but it was very useful for opening the pool this season. ... show more

I have one season on it and it does well. Used to remove extra water from on top of the pool for winterizing. Leaves and debris don’t plug it. I even stored it in the garage where it cold freeze and still going strong.
