I got this for an kiddie pool that my dog and grandkids use. Lots of sand and hair. My pool sits on pavers so the bottom shows all the seams of those blocks and dirt collects there but this sucks it right out. Easy to use. Fairly good at cleaning. I say this only because the water exits the sides while using and stirs up stuff around it. Then you can’t vacuum it. It does a good job getting stuff up tho. You just have to do it in phases. Let it settle and do it again. Long handle so no bending over. Extra fine sediment filters that are easy to change and clean. It is tricky to turn on and off because you have to turn the handle and sometimes the filter basket comes off so make sure to not do that over your water lol. Ask me how I know…. Would not be useful for anything big but for a kid pool or hot tub or even a stock pool it would be sufficient. It does take 5 D batteries so I hope they last a while.     • Don’t buy!
I bought my first above ground pool for my three and four-year-old grandchildren. They are only three and four, so I bought a small 4 x 7 x 2 foot pool. I needed a way to clean the bottom; although the top is easy to skim with a net, and it is covered when not in use, I noticed the bottom was collecting slippery algae, dirt from little feet, toys thrown in, etc. These children don’t swim yet so I don’t want them to slip under and get scared. I did use chlorine but clearly still needed a vacuum. I don’t have a place to plug in a filter pump so I purchased this water broom. I was intensely disappointed. The batteries were easy to put in, but turning it on is an insane chore. If you turn it to the left or right to turn it on or off, which requires a body builder to do, the basket that contains the filter falls off, but there is no other way to turn it, you need that leverage, especially when wet. It is very hard to do under normal circumstances, and I’m sure the kids learned a new swear word when listening to me trying to turn it off. When I fractured a finger, it became impossible. Even my husband is unable to turn it off or on easily. Believe every review that says it’s hard to turn off and on, because it’s harder than that. I honestly don’t understand how this thing is supposed to work. It has two very tiny little filters, one for big leaves and one for small things, and while it will suck up a few leaves and bugs, it doesn’t suck up much more than that as there isn’t room. Plus, the water comes back out of the side so any dirty water spews right back into the pool. It might look nice while you are sweeping it, but in reality the dirty water is swirling around and will settle as soon as you are done. This was a terrible purchase. It might be fine for a tiny plastic kiddy pool, (maybe) but not for my tiny above ground pool. I am upset when I buy these big sized things because I never am able to send them back once used, but I do want to warn people not to buy this. At least try one of the ones with the bigger filter because this tiny little filter thing won’t even clean my tiny little pool. I have had to drain my pool three or four times this summer just to get it clean enough for the kids to be safe. A chore in itself as it still leaves a foot of water so you constantly have to push the dirty water out. As I said I do use chlorine and I have used algicide. I’m a former fish keeper so I understand water. This broom just doesn’t do the trick, only water changes. I just wish I had an outlet for a filter pump. Nothing is all bad so I will say the battery life is good, and the batteries are well protected from the water. Suction seems ok but since it spits the water back into the pool like a house vacuum without a cannister, I’m not sure if it matters. Um…I guess that’s it. Don’t waste your money.     • Easy to Use....Works well on cleaning pools with small debris and a few leaves
This tool is not designed to remove large amounts of leaves and debris from your pool. For that job there are better tools. It is however an excellent and easy to use tool to remove light debris, small amounts of sand and silt (with the included filter) and leaves that tend to accumulate daily in my pool. I use it everyday and it only takes about 5 to 10 minutes to completely remove any debris that has accumulated over night. The best tool to have is the one you will use often...and this tool is so simple to use, clean and maintain, you will find it very easy to do those necessary touchups on your pool on a regular basis. Cannot rate it high enough for the job it is designed to do. I also like it uses 5 D batteries - easy to change and I use mine several times a day (for the last month) and so far the batteries are all still in the green zone on by battery tested. Buy 24 or 48 D amazon batteries and you are set to go for the season. ... show more

Eh. For that many D batteries I would expect stronger suction. As I push it along the stuff on the edge just swirls and moves around the pool and I feel like I'm chasing it a lot. I got it for the sand and it doesn't seem to be working for that. I bought a different vacuum that connects to your hose and it works much much better. ... show more

I thought that this would be good for the stairs and for when I didn't want to drag the big vacuum out. I thought I'd try it and if it didn't work it did say "Amazon free returns". Silly me, I should have read the fine print! I tried it and I did not have trouble turning it on and off like some other people wrote. A switch would be more convenient, but it was okay. I also already have long poles and it was easy to interchange the poles with the adapter that they give you. The problem is, it does not really suck up the fine debris that I wanted it for. It will suck leaves, but the filter basket is so small that it fills up immediately plus I can get leaves with a net. I sometimes have small particles on the pool floor, it did not pick these up. So I thought I guess I'll return. I started a return and at the end it said if it was used there was a 20% fee and if I had gotten free shipping I would be charged the shipping. So, I guess I am not returning because I would probably end up owing them money! Not really, but probably at least half. The lesson learned here is read the fine print. If I had just poked around the return policy I might have seen that and I honestly wouldn't have bought it. Fortunately it wasn't too much money. I am updating my review. After I wrote this I found that they had a fine mesh bag included and attached that and that solved my problem! However, it stopped working (which is why I didn't write this sooner). I contacted the company and customer service couldn't be nicer! They have a year warranty and they sent me a new one! They also told me that they recommend taking the batteries out after every use to prevent corrosion in case water gets in which is what they think happened to mine. For a small little machine it gets a lot done. We had so much dirt, dust and particles from getting our pavers done and I had no idea how to clean it out of the attaching hot tub. I ordered this, it arrived faster than expected. As you can see in the picture it cleans it up. The cons is that you have to have A LOT of patience and SLOWLY vacuum over things. Yes it doesn’t capture 100% of everything but it does capture the majority. Emptying it is also annoying and I had to do it many times. But I knew that because it is small. Pro is that it captures a lot and the batteries last a long time.( We used the Amazon batteries bc they were cheaper than any store. ) so I highly recommend to order those along with the vacuum.
