  • Compact, lightweight, fast and reliable so far
Capacity: 960GB
This unit is intended to be my main grab-and-go data repository. I.e., if some disaster is imminent, this small unit would have all my important data on it, and moreover be able to boot up a computer. I'm currently using it for another purpose, but I prefer it over my other automated backups (which write to USB flash drives) because this SSD is faster and has much more capacity. I purchased a second cable for it, which is like the included one but has a USB-C connector at the computer end. There are other somewhat similar options available, but so far I like this one the best. ... show more

  • Works great for the Tesla!
Capacity: 240GB
This works great for Tesla dashcam and video recording. Plugged it into the car, formatted the disk and started working immediately!

Drive works well. The cable that came with it was faulty.

  • Slowest SSD I have ever owned. And I own many.
Capacity: 480GB
By far the slowest drive I have owned. I have 6 external drives because I am a professional Videographer. The write spend on this SSD has never gone above 40MB/s and the read speed has never gone above 100MB/s. This is WAY Far below the industry standard (even for the cheapest solid state drive on the market). Once again.... You get what you pay for. The extra $40 for a good drive would have saved me tons of time loading and editing. Again.. this SSD is even slower than most other Budget SSD's. So, it's back to SanDisk and Samsung for me. Less learned. ... show more

  • This thing is blazingly fast!
Capacity: 480GB
Pros: 1. Fast enough to edit photos from 2. Very small and light 3. Included cord has held up well Cons: 1. Read/Write speed not quite as fast as advertised A little background about me: I'm a college student working as a photographer about 35 hours per week, and I shoot 3000-4000 images in a normal month. If I travel somewhere cool, the monthly shutter count can be closer to 6000. Needless to say, I'm in constant need of storage space, especially since MacBook disk space is so precious (mine has the 250GB drive). I have a WD MyBook 4TB drive that sits on my desk at school, and it's pretty fast and very reliable. However, I have two problems with it: 1. It sits on my desk (external power adapter) 2. It's fast, but not fast enough to edit from (easily) This PNY Elite SSD solves both of those problems! I use Lightroom to import photos from my SD card to the SSD, and it really is as fast as advertised! Several GBs of photos in a matter of seconds. The write speed is plenty fast enough so that Lightroom/Photoshop editing is not laggy, which was my main concern with any external drive. Like I mentioned, the WD MyBook HDD just wasn't fast enough, so that in order to maintain my sanity, I had to import photos to my internal drive, edit, export, and then transfer the files to the external hard drive. Then, I couldn't keep the photos with me. Now, I import directly to this SSD, edit and export, and put the drive in my backpack! It's small and light enough to actually let dangle by the cord without any worry of damaging the USB port of the laptop or the drive. Also, it's built super-solidly, and I'd have no reservations about carrying it in my pocket at all. I've had this thing for a few months now, and the port on the device has not loosened significantly, which is a problem I've experienced with other drives. All in all, I'm happy to recommend the PNY Elite SSD to anyone needing a small, lightweight, blazingly fast storage solution! ... show more

  • Decent external drive
Capacity: 240GB
I bought this external SSD for my Wii U actually as a quick way to install games on, and this is a very nice alternative to internal storage especially if it's slow. So far I haven't had any issues after having this for quite a while.

  • Super compact SSD with average performance
Capacity: 480GB
It was on sale for $110, Amazon deal of the day, and what i like so far about the product is the size and quality. Super compact SSD and feels solid. Pros Compact size, probably one of the most compact SSD in portable SSD class Look, feel and quality of material is good Good average speeds, not as goods as the company claims Work on MAC and Windows out of box, just plug and play (Read and Write) Considerations This SSD does heat up/feels warm to touch if you continuously use it to read or copy data. Not something that i expected, but i guess it won't hurt Paging was nothat great, came in a large envelope that was torn off on the edge, although the manufacturers plastic package was intact The plastic like packaging is really hard to cut through, i wish this came in frustration free packaging Cons Read and Write speed is not as consistent as compared to Samsung or Sandisk. I tried spurred test on Mac and Windows pretty much the same. Not even close to what is claimed Once you plug in the hard drive it take super long for computer to detect it, i tried this on 3 different computers and its same. Takes like 30 sec The drive was named in Chinese or Korean - You have to rename it The package said It includes data protection software, but it did not **Update** I do not want to be a critic here, but just trying to figure out if the item that was delivered to me has some problem After some more tests on a Mac and Pc (not the one i used earlier) the results are if not exactly but almost the same. Also ran tests on my Samsung SSD and they are consistent too 1. 339.6 write and 298.0 read on a Mac book pro retina i7 16gb 2. 331.2 write and 265.6 read on a Lenovo i5 8gb 3. 336.0 write and 290.4 read on HP i7 16gb If you look at the pattern based the numbers, they are very similar and no where close to what manufacturer 430/400 claims and some of the other users. Also the SSD does get warm even if you are browsing pictures - not that it bothers me but just trying to figure out if my SSD has some defect ... show more
