It is so stupid that all pools don’t come with these already. It is so convenient to be able to close the valve and clean the filter. Much better than putting a plug in the hole. I ordered one to start with. Tried it out. It works so well I order another one and the one that tee’s into 2 hoses. They all work great. Gives me options when I work on the pool. I can close one and leave the other open so the skimmer works better. Close the skimmer and open the other to get more flow on the hose cleaning the pool. Close the tee and discharge on the pump and clean the filter. They close 100 %, easy to turn, don’t leak. I don’t get wet or drop the plug in the pool. I don’t see a downside so far. I would recommend these to anyone.

Please buy a metal hose clip to put on the part that connects to put. I bought this but used the plastic clip. The plunger detached from my pool and I lost a 1/4 of my water. I used the metal clip plus extra support (pool strainer/filter connector). I'll see how that holds and update review later. It’s been 3 days and the metal hose clamps have held. Plungers are working as described. Good purchase, makes life easier when changing filter or any maintenance that requires water to be stopped.

Do not waste your money. These are poorly made and do not last. I have 2 suction inlets on my above ground pool, which is pretty standard. I installed one of these valves on each. I use one suction inlet for the skimmer, and the other for a pool suction vacuum. I needed to shut off the skimmer inlet in order for the pool suction vacuum to function properly. I also found that shutting off the pool suction vacuum inlet allowed the skimmer to function better. Problems with these units: - The clamp does not tighten enough to fully seal the connection. It is not fitted properly. I had to add a standard hose clamp to get it to seal. - They are very poorly made. The internal mechanism for shutting off the flow of water has broken on both valves after less than 1 week of use. Do not buy these. Spend a little more and get something of better quality. I have have to order different valves. 6/28 I am writing to update my review slightly. My overall opinion has not changed and still do not recommend this product. However, in fairness, I discovered that the internal valve mechanisms have not completely broken but are simply poorly designed and constructed. They will close when the pump is running and providing suction, but will not open. I have to turn the pump off to open them. This is due to the design of the plunger valve and valve handle and a small cam that operates the plunger valve when the handle is turned.
