This is my second time buying fatwood on amazon and this stuff was alot better than the first stuff I bought. After doing some research I believe all the commercial grade stuff comes from stumps. Its not like finding your own fatwood from dead wood that is completely saturated in resin. This is made for mass production so trying to light it with a spark is going to be ridiculous but its very nice to have when just camping or making fires. I split some small pieces off a log and make some shaving from the fatwood & you really just dont need anything else. I dont even need to collect kindling anymore unless its convenient. Overall I will probably buy it again.

Only one piece of kindling in the entire box! A full 2lbs of fatwood! Burns like a charm and smells fabulous. The black smoke is normal for ALL resinous woods. It comes from carbon. Totally natural. Will definitely buy again. We split a piece to see and it had so much resin it looked like bacon or candy!

I have difficulty lighting a fire in our wood burning fireplace, so I require more than just newspaper. I like these sticks but it’s more affordable for me to purchase the boxes of 144 fire starter squares that work just as well.

I had a few sticks that did not want to take when lighting up. I was using this in a Kamado to start under a charcoal basket. I made a square of alternating sticks so there was flow around them, and enough volume to catch the charcoal. I settled for getting each corner started because once they took off, they really took off. However I was struggling with a few spots to get them going. Something I’ll practice next season. Overall they worked great over chemical starters and smelled awesome.

We love this product and have been using it for a couple of years. However, the price has increased from $30 to $40 a box, while the size of the box has gotten smaller. Our most recently ordered box fits inside the old empty box from our previous purchase.
