This replaced our well lived, heavily used 5 year old Pit Boss that had died and so far we love it. I shopped for months and looked at just about every pellet smoker under the sun before choosing this one. Our previous Pit Boss started rusting after year one, so whether this one will do the same remains to be seen. It was mostly cosmetic but my husband would sand and refinish each year. We use our grill year round and we're pleased with the durability and performance of Put Boss for the price. Smaller cooking area than our previous smoker but still gets the job done. The Wifi & Bluetooth make tempeture checks and turning it off a snap. We tend to use our wireless probes, but the notification that your food is at temp with the wired probes is nice. For the price, it's hard to beat the amount of pellets it holds and the temperature range it will hit. Love how hot it can get if you're wearing or just doing a quick BBQ. Holds the smoke well and everything comes out tasting delicious. It went together easily, is sturdy and heavy, but easy to move. Hopefully it will wear at least as well as our other Pit Boss.

Absolute hog of a smoker

I bought this do to my old Walmart brand smoker finally calling it quits after 5 years of use. First things first, this thing is an absolute hog. It’s way heavier than I expected and took both my wife and I giving everything we had just to move the box it came in. Assembly was pretty straightforward but difficult in certain areas due to the way the instructions are laid out. My suggestion is to lay the main unit on its side, assemble the entire base, legs and support then bolt it to the smoker as one piece. It will save you an easy hour of frustration. Did the first burn in and seasoning and it went very well. Took me a few minutes to learn a new app but I gotta say I love the app for this smoker. I also really like the shutdown mode this has, simply choosing power off and letting it cool itself down is pretty sweet. The lid is incredibly heavy and has a really nice gasket to completely seal the smoke in. Overall I don’t think I could be happier with this purchase and plan on buying a pit boss table top pellet grill to go along with this.

i had a Louisville grill for 5 years and i love it.. but they don't have one that is reasonably priced.. so i looked the Pit Boss, and i love it.. assembly wasn't too bad.. took me about 45 minutes to put together.. love it so far.. :) .. hope to get at least five years .. build solid.. love it.. the durability is very good, good size, and so far love how easy it is to clean

Kind of dissapointed, hard pass at this price point.

First, this grill makes great food. I've had a few pellet grills and smokers and this one is every bit as good as a Traeger. Now the bad. While the wifi could be useful, Pit Boss ruined it with a really poor quality app. Unstable, long connection times, and amazingly enough, no alarms. In addition, the app constantly requires logging in, and Pit Boss decided it should require MFA...don't know why they think a grill app warrants that level of security. It is constantly frustrating to to repeatedly log in, making the entire "smart" grill concept tedious, and painful. There is NO reason why one should have to log into the app to use the grill. Absolutely stupid. The whole point of a smart grill is alarms. The fact that Pit Boss missed this is huge. Yes, they support notifications...great, 10 minute delay and a single notification. Completely useless. Basically, I use all my same wireless kit that I've used on previous grills, and could have saved a few hundred bucks. Next horrendously hideous feature: This is the first pellet grill I've owned where the grease trap isn't accessible. Yeah, that's right...you can't check it before a smoke! This may be the dumbest thing I've ever seen. You have to actually get on all fours on the ground, and get up under the grill to pull out the trap and check it. This grill should be a hard pass at this price point. Update: After using this grill for a few more monrhs, I'm downgrading to 1 star. Not only is the grease trap horribly designed, but the entire internal grease drain system is a disater. It catches the grease in a runoff channel. The channel has a low point at each end, only one end drains into the trap. The other drains back into the grill...which promptly runs into the fire pot. Now you get a bonus fire with everything else. Want to smoke a couple of whole chickens? 50/50 chance you have a fire. 15 hour brisket? Hope you like bark, lol, because when 12 hours of brisket grease goes up... you're gonna have bark.
