Love this little grill you can cook for a big family just takes a little long but has plenty of room to cook for a family of 4. Pitboss is a great company and their products have been great

  • Use anywhere, anytime!

Easy to move around. Easy to start and stop with 1 button. Putting away is easy with the wheels. Wonderful while camping or just to use at home. While it is small you can still fit a ton of food in it.

  • Nice grill, with some caveats.
Color: Black Size: Portable Pellet Pattern Name: Grill
First off, the reviews and specs that state the height of this grill, with the legs folded are incorrect. With the legs folded, it measures 21-3/4" tall. I was disappointed in this, because that's one of the reasons I bought it. I wanted a grill that would fit in the bed of my truck, under my bed cover. It doesn't. It struggles to get to, and maintain any temp over 250 degrees. It will get there, but it has a difficult time doing so. It's just not as powerful as the bigger Pit Boss grills I have. That being said, it seems to be better at smoking than the bigger grills. The smoke production is better, and the smoke is cleaner. If you're buying this to grill on a camping trip, or for your RV, it will work fine for you, but you will need to be patient. There's no door or other means to empty the pellet hopper, except using a vacuum to suck them out. This is another disappointment, because pellets in the hopper add to transportation weight. ... show more

  • Easy to assemble, some thoughtful touches, but not perfect by far.
Color: Black Size: Portable Pellet Pattern Name: Grill
I really like a lot of the PitBoss products, but being happy with 2 of them doesnt mean I am ignorant of what a different model is capable of. Enter in the portable Pit Boss pellet grill. The design is pretty decent, feels sturdy enough, but where it doesnt shine is the temperature consistency or I guess lack of throughout the cooking chamber. I purchased this for use while camping for cooking outdoors and as a main cooking system, it has some to be desired. At times it struggled to heat a pan with the flames exposed to the point to even cook a pancake on even a thin nonstick pan (much less an iron skillet). Cooking meats and searing took about 2.5 times what any other pellet grill I have used before and the cooking pattern of the flame cup so narrow as to constantly have to move the food around. Smoking was okay, but even then much of the smoke was lost to the outside and took quite a bit longer to get any flavor to absorb. I used this over the possible 6 days so far for every meal and every meal was almost always a challenge. Eggs, pancakes, steaks, smores, fish, lasagna, brisket, chicken breast, etc. We tried many types of cooking and foods over the week of being fully outdoors, and every time we went to cook, there was just something new to learn about how it wanted to cook the food. We are both very experienced pellet grill users and have some of the earliest PitBoss and other OEMs grills, not to mention wood fire chimneys, and gas/charcoal systems. And this had to be some of the most frustrating cooking I have ever experienced with a grill. While attempting to do pancakes, we finally threw up our hands and went to the shared kitchen area to borrow a grill to finish breakfast on. Completely frustrating when the kids are hungry and taking over an hour to try to cook some pancakes. Is it portable, yes, somewhat considering the hopper size, side shelf, temp control unit, and hood. That I can get past of the size and weight considering there are much smaller versions out there. The grease cup, good stuff, easy to clean. Controls are nearly identical to other models and temp probes seem to be acurate. It just takes a really long time to heat and get to temp and stay there with even heat. There are a lot of cold spots and considering the mechanism at work, I am not sure why the unit is so vastly outdone by the larger models. The space to heat is mostly proportional to the rest of it. Hopper design is pretty well done and spacious, thankfully, since I had to use a lot more of the PitBoss (championship blend) pellets to get the job done day in and day out. Even now I struggle to consider what an appropriate star rating to give them is. Definitely not a 5. A 4, that seems way to easy on the product. A 3, I am not sure that conveys how frustrating owning one is. Maybe a 2.5 if I could, but I settled on a 2, because it does some of what it wants to do okay. It has wheels, construction seems okay, the enameled grill area is pretty easy to clean, the grease trap is fine, yes yes. But if it cant cook well, isnt that the true measure of what we are buying? It has to produce good food in a time that doesnt make it seem less than worthwhile. And when I consider my next outing, ultimately, do I want to utilize that space in the vehicle to take this along, or look towards something else. I might use it again, but I didnt want to have to have that be on my mind when I want to go enjoy nature and time with the family. ... show more
