This is a great smoker/grill. the assembly is annoying screws are cheap and will strip. I recommend purchasing an extra prob. Also the detachable smoke box.

So far I have liked everything about the Sportsmans Pit Boss. Temperature control, ease of use, smoke volume, thermometer, and heavy construction. Grilling surface is 18 x 18 which is perfect for just my wife and I but yet big enough for much more. Only suggestion would be to ad another temperature probe since there are two ports for two probes. Definitely a keeper. ... show more

Do night by a Pit Boss. I bought the Sportsman fir my son in law for Christmas. After a few months of use the paint started peeling off the grill. He called PitBoss and I also called and all they could say was it was probably caused by a flare up and they said we could repaint it. What a joke, who had ever cooked burgers, chicken, bacon etc. without a flare up? They admitted they had this problem across the board in their product line. Very disappointing because it coooked ok. Great product. some minor design flaws (careful with the lid handle) but otherwise solid. Did about 6 cooks so far and all have been great. Size is perfect. I was able to grill 6 hamburgers, 6 hotdogs and 2 chicken breasts simultaneously. Plenty of room to spare.

So assembly would’ve been easier had I had a second pair of hands, because doing it myself was challenging, until after I got the legs in. After that; super easy. First use seemed to take forever to get temp up, but I’m told that’s normal. Ever since, I can’t wait until the weekends to put this to use. I’ve smoked ribs- St Louis style and baby back; brats; chicken- just breasts but also whole I fabricated; grilled a ribeye at 500 degrees giving me a perfect caramelized crust and temp; and my most surprising result was center-cut pork steaks at 250 until hitting the 230 temp then cranking up to high for nice finishing sear- amazing! I absolutely love this machine and bought it having only ever used bullet smokers and wanted to start small. I am already saving up for one of the $1000+ models because this one is so easy to use and with some proper techniques has given me the tool I’ve been wanting to make professional grade proteins. If you’re even barely on the fence about buying this; just buy it. You absolutely won’t regret it.... just try to have a partner available to get those legs on while assembling. ... show more

The product came in an almost destroyed box. We figured the packaging at least would have protected it but it didn’t. The smoker has multiple scratches and dents all over... Very disappointed in packaging and shipping. Otherwise, it was a fairly easy assemble with two people, hopefully the first test run will be easy! ... show more
