  • Very easy to use, great results
Color: Black
I wanted to get a label/sticker printer to use for printing shipping labels, as well as specialized information stickers. I ship items from time to time and I realized how much time it takes to print a label on my full size inkjet printer, cut the label to size, then tape it onto the box or envelope. I also didn't want to be swapping paper and labels out all the time, so I wanted a machine that was separate from my main printer. So far this printer has been user friendly and has worked with everything I've tried and I think getting it was a good choice. To install it on Windows 10, I just plugged it in, attached to my PC, turned it on, and went to the website it mentions to download special drivers (though it was detected before I installed them, so perhaps that step isn't necessary.) I loaded paper and did a test print on a 4x6 label (there is a strip of 10 of them included in the box.) In the pic, you can see the bottom of the print test was truncated, but I think this is how the test page works with odd size papers and I didn't really try to get perfect settings when I ran the test. I also loaded some round stickers to see how difficult an odd shape would be. Basically, it's as easy as the graphic design tools you use. I downloaded the free Labelife label design/print software referred to in the documentation. (It says it's a trial version, but I haven't seen any restrictions or reference to a purchase price.) The software is very easy to use for making labels on rectangular, oval or circular stickers. Just set the parameters, and place images or text. It's not the most full featured software, but will more than suffice for making simple stickers. After I designed the sticker, I printed and it came out great. And the printing is FAST. It prints entire label sheets faster than most other printers simply feed the paper. The only drawback about this thermal printer which I realized in retrospect after ordering it, is that it is not wireless. You can't print using wifi or bluetooth, and I don't know of a way to print straight from a phone app. But if you just need a compact, easy to use printer for labels and stickers, and it's ok that it's attached to a PC or Mac all the time, I think this printer does a great job. ... show more

  • So far, so good
Color: Pink
So, I’ve only tried this out once on a black and white return label, but it worked great when I did. It was really easy to set up and really easy to use. I think pretty much anyone of any skill level (well, maybe not ANYONE) would be able to use this without any issues. Definitely a worthy investment, especially if you’re someone that mails out a lot of things. ... show more

  • USB only. Fast. Fix for barcode readability issues explained in this review.
Color: Pink
The recommended, and free, Labelife app works fine on the Mac. It's not particularly powerful, but it does the job of printing labels with relatively little fuss. On my prior Phomemo PM-241-BT printer, I discovered that the barcode quality was poor, forcing me to print barcodes very large in order for them to be readable. Looking at a label with a 10X loupe revealed some hideous, sawtooth-like artifacts on many of the bars, sometimes only on one side of a bar and sometimes on both (see image taken through loupe). The printer under review, the PM-246S, has the same issue when printing with Labelife. I experimented with the four modes in Labelife. Only the "Text" mode printed the barcodes well. Selecting "Auto," "Texto e imagen," or "Image" resulted in the exact same kind of poor quality output you see in the upper label taken through the 10x loupe. It appears that the jagged edges are related to sort of crude form of dithering associated with simulating grayscale output. If you want to print barcodes, use "Text" mode, understanding that "Text" really means black & white and all of the other modes provide (poorly) dithered grayscale with ugly artifacts on barcodes. I hope that you found the above helpful. __________ I got this printer to replace the aforementioned Phomemo PM-241-BT. The PM-241-BT, while otherwise comparable in speed and quality to this PM-246S, annoyed me by triggering repeated pop-ups from macOS telling me that the printer was requesting that I let it connect via Bluetooth. But it doesn't work when connected that way. It connects for a few seconds and then disconnects. Although I kept looking for updated firmware, none was released, so I jumped on this PM-246S when it became available. I'm very happy with this printer. Maybe it's a girl thing, but I find the rounded styling of the pink case to be much prettier than the boxy, sharp-edged styling of the PM-241-BT. This printer is fast and the output is just as clean and sharp -- once you select "Text" mode in Labelife. This PM-246S printer is really a gem when you consider the price, construction, speed, and output quality. ... show more

  • Good printer, flawed cable
Color: Black
The printer is good. Prints come out quality but setup is meh. The cable for mine was frayed so that stinks. Its got a slim appearance and is nice and sleek. Prints fast too!

  • Saves you from wasting ink, paper, tape and time
Color: Pink
Item comes in an unmarked box, so may not be great for gifting. Multiple cords are included, including a USB adaptor for MAC. There are also 10 shipping labels. Mine had a shipping label stuck in the printer, which provided system information, customer support numbers etc. I felt this was weird, because it took some effort to pull it out. The step-by-step Quick Start Guide is very clear and easy to understand. You do have to download software, but is very simple via a Windows PC. It appears that you can print labels of multiple shapes and sizes, though I will only be using for shipping labels. You connect via USB to your computer. The description states there is bluetooth connectivity, but I haven't figured out how to do that. It prints quickly. I love that it is inkless. No smudging or waiting for ink to dry. The print quality is good...better than my standard printer on paper. This is a much more convenient way of printing labels...instead of printing on paper, cutting it out and taping to the package (wasting ink, paper, tape and time). Would recommend. ... show more
