I actually have a more expensive printer but am switching to this one. The key reason is because the paper lives inside the machine, rather than hanging out the back, which makes this printer SO much more practical than the other one. Of course, this is assuming you're using the roll-type thermal paper, not the folded sheets. The refills are pretty affordable, about $20 for 4 rolls of 100 sheets each. I purchased from papers from the same brand just to be safe, but theoretically, you can use any other papers so long as the rolls fit into the printer. Just a tip, don't store your papers near a heat source... duh, super obvious, I know, but I made the mistake of setting a box just barely on a mug heater... not a big deal, just had to throw out part of one roll, but still, just a heads up. Probably a good idea not to store this near heaters or vents in your home. I use this when I'm living out of my van, and it's nice to be able to print out pdfs to read rather than zooming in and out of them on a screen. It's also unexpectedly come in handy for printing out trail maps for hiking / bouldering. Really nice not to be flipping through screenshots on a phone.

The media could not be loaded. This printer makes good black & white thermal prints. It is big enough for standard 8.5" x 11" prints and it comes in a travel size build. Its size makes it excellent for taking in a backpack, luggage, or packed away in a drawer. The printer comes with a roll of 8.5x11 thermal paper, a power cord, a USB-A to USB-C adapter, USB-A to USB-B printer cable, a spacer for using smaller rolls of thermal paper, and an instruction manual. The drivers for the printer can be download for PCs by following the instructions on top of the printer. There is also an App for phones to print items directly from the phone via Bluetooth or Wi-fi. Desktop and laptops computers need to use the included USB-A to USB-B cable to print. I printed out part of a music keyboard's user manual and it prints very fast. This printer's strength is its ability to print anywhere with a phone or laptop in a single package. Its size is a bit bigger than the slim single sheet printers but it is still very much a space-saving device that can hold all of the paper inside at once. 5 stars.

I like this company’s label makers so decided to give this a try. Ink-free sounded like a great step into the future. Yet, it’s a terrible printer for full-format, letter-sized print jobs. Firstly, the print quality is just… bad. Text is frequently too light while photos are too dark—often on the same page. It looks like a the work of a semi-functional copy machine from decades ago. Next, the paper comes in rolls. So the pages curl after you print them. Printing something with 20 pages? Get ready to tear each page from next along the dotted lines because they come out connected in a reel. Then press those pages between some big books overnight to flatten them. The printer often doesn’t align with the roll of blank paper. So it spits out blank pages every few pages in larger print jobs. It also can’t print more than 10 pages at time and there’s no way to queue a larger document. Additionally, when connecting with the app over and over to execute a larger print job 10 pages at a time, it sometimes misses a print command, so you have to run it again. And then it prints out both the lost job and the one that triggered it to start printing. I printed a 50-page manual and it generated 47 misaligned and/or redundant blank pages. Well, they were almost blank—it prints these alignment blocks in the corners of the blank pages. So they are strictly scrap material. And they can’t be ran through the machine again because they’re no longer on the roll. The app is super janky. Like I said earlier, it sometimes doesn’t trigger a print job and other times it spits out a bottleneck of print jobs with no way to cancel redundant print jobs. Oof! Honestly, this is the worst printer I’ve ever come across. I’m shocked it made it to market. Might as well use a 50-year-old dot matrix machine. At least those are efficient and don’t blow huge amounts of paper to do basic jobs. I wish I could get my money back but I’m pretty sure I’m outside the return window now. This will be going out into a free pile in front of my house with a sign that reads, “Maybe don’t even bother.” What a waste!

I like that this printer can fit into my backpack at ease because it is lightweight too. It prints easily and I am able to use this printer at the library because it is quiet while in use. I like that this printer does include paper, so you know which one to get if and when you run out.

This printer id okay, but has a few “issues”’that should be considered. It needs a USB cable to connect to your computer, so no wireless printing using a computer. It's deceptively heavy, has no battery, and needs to be plugged in, making it not as portable as advertised. Plus, the power cords disconnects easily, which is super annoying. For the price, you could get a better printer with more features. On the bright side, if you just want to print from your phone or tablet, it works well. Just don’t expect high-quality prints or true portability.
