First off, Philips is a great brand and produces stellar products. When I googled the top 10 smart locks of 2026, this one came in 2nd or 3rd (I forgot which) due to price, app ease of use, ease of installation and other pros. My only con is it takes 8 AA batteries, but I have been using it steadily and the battery life is still high (doesn’t show percentage on the app or device, only the app displays a battery symbol). Out of the box, the device is extremely well packaged. The handles came in a different box with all new hardware and strike plates. Everything was wrapped for protection and padded well. I had no fear that anything was damaged while being shipped. Installation was a breeze. Took maybe 20 minutes including the time it took to download and set up the app. Like I said before, it does take 8 AA batteries which is excessive but the battery compartment is very easy to access and there is a battery ejection strap that you place behind the back row of batteries and pull to eject all of the batteries. All the hardware was included and the instructions were detailed but it’s self explanatory on how to install. Durability is honestly super solid. The handles and the lock itself feel great. The touch screen feels solid, the fingerprint scanner feels like metal and the hinged door over the key hole feels sturdy. I do not have any doubt this will stand up to time for years. The only plastic part is on the inside. The manual door lock, and the back plate are plastic but a durable plastic. Just don’t swing hammers near it and it shouldn’t break. The auto lock function can be describe with one word. Perfect. The app works 99% correctly, I did have a glitch where it said the door was unlocked when it was locked, and acted funny but when I closed the app and reopened it, it was showing the correct status. Not a huge deal, just not a 100% perfect app. However, the lock itself is awesome. The finger print works 99.9% of the time but is angle and left/right hand depend at so I had to put both hands of my and my girlfriends finger. The touch screen is super responsive and no matter how wet the screen is or dirty my fingers are, I can type in the code without issue. There is an audible motor and once the lock/unlock is complete, a voice will tell you the door’s status very quietly. I have my device linked to Alexa and just saying “Alexa, lock the door” works great, but unlocking requires different permissions within the app that I have not figured out yet. My main point is it is fantastic. My family all have permanent passwords while I can send a 1 time code to a dog walker or other tradesman, or a code for air BnB guests so it lasts a certain amount of time before expiring. I also enjoy getting the notifications that my door is locked/unlocked and what method was used. Example: “front door unlocked by fingerprint”. That is super cool. All in all, value for the money, especially since I bought it on sale is absolutely amazing. Philips uses a pretty tough firewall as well so these devices are very unlikely to be hacked with close range devices wielded by thieves so you can rest assured someone can’t easily open the lock. The door handles look and feel amazing and I love the bar style over the round so I can easily get inside my house while my hands are full If you are on the fence about getting this smart lock, go for it. Get it on sale. It’s amazing and I bet you’ll like it. I’ll update if I run into any issues but so far I have been extremely happy.

I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality and design of the Philips Wi-Fi Smart Lock. I've had August and Schlage locks in my old home, but was looking for something a bit more stylish when we moved into our new house. Well, and the August lock's battery life and geofencing responsiveness wasn't great -- so I wanted to try something new. I've had Philips Hue Lights for many years and have been impressed with the company's progress over the years both on the hardware and the software side (the early Hue app was rough -- but it's gotten better and better). So I approached this lock with a little bit of trepidation: should I really trust in a new player in the automatic lock market? And does the comparatively low price means there's something missing? Having tested the lock for two months now, I can report that Philips has delivered another quality product. I didn't need a door handle since my front door uses rare-earth magnets and a metal bar to close -- instead, I added it to my existing deadbolt. While the install in place of an existing single-cylinder lock is likely very easy, I had a locksmith install it and asked him to re-key the lock with a matching high-security cylinder and key system (which would be a great option for a higher-priced model, but I wasn't expecting it at this price point). The outside keypad is a sleek shiny black -- perfect for a contemporary look with a flip-open lock cover and a fingerprint reader on top. The digital keypad only illuminates when you touch it. The inside has the battery compartment (with eight AA batteries) and an easy-to-twist lock. With frequent (multiple times per day) usage, the batteries have lasted approximately two months before they had to be replaced (the app gives you ample warning that the batteries are running low). Setup via the app was easy. Our whole family registered their finger prints and even though the invite/permissions system could be refined, the app works like a cinch. We can now unlock the door via a keypad code, by using a key, by using the app, or by using the fingerprint reader. In the months I've used it, I have never had to lock not read my fingerprint correctly. It has always opened on the first try. When you're leaving your home, the lock can autolock after a set time period. You can set the time after which the door autolocks or manually engage the lock from the outside by long-pressing any key on the touchpad. It's remarkable that Philips was able to offer integrated wifi at this price point. The only things missing compared to higher-priced locks are door-close detection (the lock doesn't know whether the door is ajar, so it's possible that a timed lock engages when the door is open) and geofencing (auto-unlock when approaching the door). Huge thumbs up, 10/10 - IGN, and all that -- I'm glad I took a chance on a new product.

Super simple to install. Works really well and the app was initially a bit finicky but once it clicked in it worked well. Making temporary passwords on this is WAY better than the aqara app. Finger print reader is really quick. It feels like the Aqara lock is of a better more tough quality but this one doesn't feel 'cheap'. The iphone app is really all i can test it with. It's compatible with a few different locks in my house. The voice feature is pretty low volume but i'm ok with that honestly instead of it shouting and waking everyone up. auto lock timing is good. 8 batteries seems like a bit much but i'm hoping that means it'll last a while. NOt a bad price, cheaper that aqara. Using multiple locks throughout the house and all connected to the same app.

This lock looks significantly better in person than it does in the product photos. The design is sleek, modern, and reads as pure black when not illuminated — very understated “secret agent with excellent taste” energy. Setup was surprisingly easy. I had it installed and connected in no time, and the app notifications are accurate and genuinely useful. It alerts me when the door is opened and tells me which code was used, which has already elevated me into a level of household surveillance I previously only associated with luxury hotels and mildly paranoid billionaires. I haven’t tried the fingerprint feature yet, but I am fully prepared to begin living my 007 lifestyle any day now. The only minor issue was that the included strike plate didn’t quite work with my particular steel door setup, so I purchased the correct strike plate separately. Minor inconvenience, but not a dealbreaker. So far, very impressed. Stylish, functional, and just techy enough to make ordinary errands feel oddly sophisticated.

I purchased this particular lock because I don't have a storm door so I needed a lock that could be exposed to the elements in Northeast Ohio. The install and set up was simple & straight forward. The lock worked great for the first 3 months. Then it disconnected from wifi and wouldn't reconnect. The app said the device needed an update. The device had to be connected to wifi to update. I followed the steps in the app without resolution. I called the 800# included in the app troubleshooting instructions (and in the booklet that came with the lock). The support tech answering the call was pleasant and knowledgeable. I was guided through a few steps in an attempt to resolve the issue. Once it was apparent that I had an issue that couldn't be resolved, I was told the warranty process would be initiated and I would receive a replacement. All I had to do was respond to a text with a screen shot of the app showing it wouldn't connect and a screenshot of the inside cover. I received the new lock within 5 business days. I am rating 4 stars because it works well and product support has been great. Of course, if this one fails within 3 months I will update my review. Moral of the story - always register your products! A quick update: I just had a follow up message from Nicole at Philips checking in to verify that me new lock is functioning properly. It's been a couple of weeks since I got the replacement. Great customer service support!

this took about 1 hour to install. works with the combination and works with the fingerprints. all setup is in the app, not on the lock and it walks you thru it. codes can be added and deleted and can time out. do not know about the battery life others have mentioned, will have to see. most importantly, my wife like it as she can put her left thumb on the sensor and it opens.
