There is very little you need to do, to set up this pitcher and water filter and actually, it is really easy. I took the pitcher and filter out of the box, along with the charger, first plugging it in- There is a little plastic stopper you need to take out of the back to get to the charger- but be careful with it, as it is easy to detach (and if it is detached- it is easily reached and put back on but can also be lost- if not done right away because the piece is so small and clear). There is a little water drop on the top of the silver spout (see the photos I included) and when I plugged it in (to charge), it was red. So I left it to charge until the water drop was blue and then I unplugged it because it was charged and ready to go. The filter is fairly small and it fits right on the bottom of the inside of the pitcher. My husband says there is a small indentation there and the bottom part of the filer slips right in, easily. Then I filled the pitcher up with water and put it in my fridge. There is a handle on the top of the pitcher, which makes taking it in and out of the fridge to fill and charge easy. I waited until the next day, for the water inside to filter and cool, to have a glass of it. However, when I tried to press the silver nozzle, there was no give. What I mean is that there is no way to press the lever down to make the water come out. When I could make nothing happen, I figured that maybe the product hadn't charged or something was wrong with it. But when I called my husband in, he quickly and easily figured out what to do. If you look at my photos, look at the spot where the water drop is. All you have to do is tap down on that spot lightly with one of two fingers, and water comes out. Press the water drop once more to make it stop. It was amazing how the product worked- it was like a pitcher from the future. But the future is now and these are our products. That it only takes two taps from a fingertip, to make water flow- each time I do it, I am tickled by the Jetson feel of it. It was so easy to figure out but that it was so easy made it hard for me- I didn't think that was a possible solution. Just to touch the water drop twice- like the screen of a phone. My husband and I both laughed at my stupidity- that I didn't believe something could be so easy- that I didn't even think to try! When we tasted the water, I was amazed at the difference. But we live in a big city and I don't think we get very good water. But we could taste a big difference in the water- like there was less of a taste to it, which, I know is good- having lived in places with better water and drinking bottled water. I have never tasted such good water as what came out of this state-of-the-art filter and pitcher- And I don't know if others have ever noticed that some filtered and bottled water can leave a dry taste in your mouth after, and while I don't know what does this with some filter/ bottle waters- the Philips filter and pitcher water does not come out this way after the water has run through the filter. With this Philips filter, you get a crisp, cool, fresh glass of water. The pitcher has been in the fridge for several days and hasn't been charged again- hasn't needed it. While my husband said the cold may affect how much the pitcher has to be charged- making it need more charge because the cold takes away power- we haven't had to plug it back in. While I don't know when it will need a recharge, if there is any big issue of note, I will list it here, later on (as I always add things to my reviews, when something necessary happens that I need to share with others). Just wish water dispensed a little quicker, but it served the purpose since our new frig does not have a dispenser on it. I thought I’d have to charge it with each refill, but it holds the charge well.

Since.we live in an apartment, our refrigerator is a smaller, "no frills" unit with an ice maker, but no option for filtered water in the door, as so many of our friends have. This Phillips rechargeable electric water filtration and dispensing unit sits just inside the fridge door, so when we need a glass of cool, fresh filtered water, we just open the door and push the water drop icon and the unit AUTOMATICALLY PUMPS the water out! So cool! The filtered water tastes fresh, clean and free of the chlorine odor that municipal water systems put into our water to keep the water safe on its journey from the treatment plant to our homes. Once the water is safely brought to your tap, it is actually RECOMMENDED that you filter OUT the chlorine. This Phillips automatic water filter is just perfect for our own situation in so many ways. I am really enjoying this filtration system. It fits perfectly inside my mini-fridge in my office at work. I fill it up with tap water, put it in the fridge, and whenever I need or want cold water, I can fill up my water bottle with freshly filtered ice cold water! My water bottle fits perfectly under the tap, so I start the filtration and close the fridge until my bottle is full. Pro: The battery lasts a long time Regularly accessible ice cold water is great Cons: The tap sensor isn’t the most reactive, so I have to tap it a few times to get it to flow The flow isn’t super fast, but it’s not a deal breaker for me. We live in apartments supplied by city water that to be honest....SUCKS! We have been buying bottled water because its really the only way we can drink water. My wife spotted this and decided to try it out. We have tried other water filters in the past and they are always too big and take awhile to filter water. Not this thing! It's pretty compact and with a double tap it starts filtering the water as it pumps it to the spout. I was the guinea pig for the first taste test and I was blown away. Tastes just like the well water we had growing up. I can stop buying bottle water now! It also comes with a couple extra replacement filters to last you awhile right out of the box! Only drawback is the filer can be a bit of a pain to install but once you get it, you are good to go! ... show more

These filters are great but it took me about 5 minutes to find the right spot to screw it into. Not because it's hard to twist, but the cutouts for the insert and the filter itself isn't exactly 100% matching. Every time I try to screw it in place, it would tip and fall off. I was a bit frustrated at the design of this and wish that it came with better insertion point. The quality of the taste is still top notch and I think this is even better than my brita pitcher that I've been using. ... show more
