I put it together myself and I’d say it took about an hour, maybe a little more, to finish it. It’s more solid than what I was expecting for the price. All the pieces were there. I had one board that was cracked on arrival but was able to wood glue it and clamp it overnight and it was back to new. I have two adolescent bantams, so they’re smaller hens, and I would say this could probably fit 3-4 bantams comfortably. My husband has Delawares, and idk that more than one of those would fit comfortably unless one stayed inside and another stayed outside, because it’s just a small coop. The doorway to the coop is also small, and I’m pretty sure his chickens would not fit through it unless we modified the size (which would be an easy fix, and wouldn’t mess with the integrity). It’s been through a storm in the two days since it’s been outside, and everything stayed dry inside and the wood didn’t warp or get saturated (swollen) with water. Overall, for my two bantams, it’s perfect. Katniss and Effie love their new home! But I wouldn’t want it for bigger birds. ... show more

My Mom & I assembled this little coop in about an hour. I bought this to put INSIDE my covered, 40' x40' enclosed run - that's off my 14'x6' coop building. I will use this little coop, to put our new pullets in, to give them a "look & don't touch" introduction period of 3 weeks & get them acclimated to our adult hen community. It will also double as nice accommodations for hens who bully, go broody, or need to be isolated from the other hens for their own safety for a short period of time. It is NOT - NOT -NOT in any way - predator proof even remotely. OMG I would NEVER EVER EVER use it as a 'real' coop, but for chicks as I said, it'll work perfect well inside (what my husband calls "El Chapo's Compound".) It's perfect to keep hens away from chicks... but can't say enough, it would never suffice as being a primary coop & keeping predators away from chickens. ... show more

It's perfect for two chickens with an open run. It had a few broken pieces but not a game changer and easily fixed. Definitely exactly what we needed. However if you plan on locking them in its enough space for 1 chicken.

Aesthetically it is a decent product. And what you would use it for as a chicken coop and protecting your chickens from the elements as well as other animals and predators it does not do the job. The wood is very flimsy and breaks very easy I basically had to rebuild it myself to reinforce it. The wood is barely painted although it is cedar which is a positive over time it will degrade very quickly so you have to repaint the entire thing to at least put another coat on it to keep it from deteriorating so fast. On top of that I would not recommend it for cold weather usage. Regardless of hey or wood chips or whatever you decide to use on the inside there are several gaps everywhere in which in the winter it will not retain heat whatsoever. As a child's toy or project to put together it's okay, but for something that I would use to actually raise chickens over time save your money. ... show more
