I've needed a paper shredder for a while now, and this one works great. The six-sheet capacity is plenty for me. I had old credit cards that needed shredding and it ate them up one after another (even chip cards). The bin is a little small, but it has a transparent window at the top so you can see when it's about to get full. I really like the fact that it's a cross-cut machine, because that provides extra security. The reverse setting is really helpful if it jams. It can shred staples, but not paperclips, so make sure to take those off your paperwork before you start shredding. It's a perfect home office shredder, small enough to fit under a desk and able to handle lightweight shredding. In the auto mode, when the shredding material hits the switch in the middle, the shredder starts up and then stops once the material is through the device. I have ordered products from this company before, and I just want to say that their customer service is OUTSTANDING. If I need a product and RAGU has it, I'll definitely be ordering from them! ... show more

This paper shredder is excellent for Home Office Use. It is compact enough to fit under even the smallest desk, and cross-cuts well so that by the time your bin is full, your information is secure in paper oblivion. 6 Sheets isn't much, it's true, but if all you're shredding is bills and old checks, there's really no issue. I think the instructions say a continuous runtime of about 1 minute. A full 8 1/2 x 11 takes about 5 seconds, so you're looking at 12 sets of papers if you really need that much at one time. There's no automatic jam prevention/correction, but I've not had a jam yet. There also is no finger sensor, but (one of the benefits of it only shredding 6 at a time is that) not even an infant could fit their fingers in there. A cats claws could maybe slip through, but the safety switch is pretty small--it's highly unlikely fate would so condemn a curious cat. There's nothing fancy about the bin; just an oval-ish plastic with a little window near the top to know it's getting full, but that's also part of its utility. No weird clasps to figure out, no need for liners/bags that would just get in the way. It's simple and clean. I think the main point is... if you want something super fancy with all the cool tricks, look somewhere else (and be prepared to pay for it too). If, however, you just need something for family use (or even light quarantine-at-home work), this is the perfect shredder. Well priced, and it does what you need. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Perfect for shredding those annoying credit card offers without opening the envelope. It is easy to use and rapidly tears thru 6 sheets of copy-weight paper. It is best to shred items as they arrive and not wait until you have a big bag full because this unit will shut off automatically if it runs continuously for more than 2 minutes. After a few minutes to cool down it is back in operation but, it creates delays if you are shredding large batches. I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because the item description says "large basket". The basket on this unit is smaller than most shredders that I have used in the past but, it's also easier to fit under my desk because it is more compact. It also offers a 1-year Hassel-Free return policy which claims to be faster than the Amazon policy. This shedder is the perfect side for my home office. It is not too bulky which is nice so it doesn't take up a lot of space for those who don't have much space to spare. You can easier place it on the floor, that is where mine is, or if you have space on your desk or counter top. So far I have shredded paper and 2 old credit cards with no problems. I just shredded, 3 letter size papers and 4 legal size envelopes. I counted each envelope as 2 pieces since they are folded. So a total of 11 pieces went through the shedder all at once. I know 6 is the max limit but I was curious to see what would happen, how powerful this little guy is and if I was going to have to use the reverse switch. Happy to say, there was no problem and reverse switch was not used. However, moving forward, I will stick to the 6 max. The motor is a little heavy which is good. You don't want some light motor that isn't going to do the job. I did receive this as a promotion for an honest review. What I liked about this vendor is that they only asked me to review the product. They did not ask me to give it 5 stars. Overall I do recommend this is shedder due to it's power. ... show more

We went through every last paper in our house (many decades worth!). We used this to shred all sensitive materials before disposing of it. I thought for sure I was going to break it, but it chugged along like a good doobie. We continue to use it to this day. One warning: you really do need to give it time to rest as the instructions say. I would set a timer, shred paper continuously until it was full (about 1-2 minutes), then set another timer for half an hour to let it cool down. If I continued to shred a second bin's worth without stopping, it could sometimes do it, but other times it would suddenly stop working, just turn off. I thought I had broken it a couple times because of this, but no. It just needed to rest, and then it would start working again a while later. It's a good machine, but it's really not meant for continual use or high volume. You're going to have to allow for the time for it to rest. We shredded about 10 feet of paper piles in about 2 weeks doing it this way. I'm very happy with our purchase. ... show more
