  • Out performs others at comparable prices
Style: 10-Sheet Micro-cut
I very rarely write a review. As long as a product works, I figure it's doing what it should do. But I love this shredder. I've had it about a week and am more than satisfied with my purchase. This is the third shredder I've owned (the other 2 were Fellowes bought at a box store) and it out performs the others by miles. It's sturdily built - even the collection basket; it shreds evenly and quickly; it's pretty quiet; and it's only jammed once (my fault for putting too much in) and was easily un-jammed using the reverse button. The size is good for a home office, and its white color makes it more aesthetically pleasing. I'm using it pretty heavily right now and do wish it would take more than 10 sheets at a time, but once I get through my backlog it will be more than enough for regular home use. ... show more

  • Aurora AU1060MA Professional shredder
Style: 10-Sheet Micro-cut
Absolutely love the Aurora AU1060MA Professional shredder. I had an enormous amount of papers that needed shredding along with several old credit cards. It handled all with no problem. Shredded into tiny pieces. Highly recommend!

  • Very pleased.
Style: 10-Sheet Micro-cut
Noticeable difference in size of shredded paper from previously-owned shredder. The cheaper one /off-brand owned before left larger, longer strips with more legible print. This shreds and then cuts across. Huge difference and much, much more secure. It may take a second or two longer, but that's because it's doing its job. ... show more

  • Good paper shredder for home use
Style: 10-Sheet Micro-cut
So far does a good job reducing documents into micro-bits. Wheels make it easy to move around. Easy to operate and discard chopped paper when container is full. So far, it’s a good value.$

  • An Exceptional Secure-shredding Powerhouse
Style: 10-Sheet Micro-cut
This Aurora shredder is truly exceptional. After extensive research, I chose this model for its ability to shred documents into the finest pieces for an at-home model of this size and price range. With decades of paperwork to dispose of, this powerhouse tackled everything effortlessly — never overheating, never jamming. It is quieter than my previous shredder, has a large capacity bin, and easily wheels around when needed. Although it's able to shred 10 sheets at a time, I choose to shred a maximum of 5 sheets at a time to potentially extend its lifespan. To keep it running smoothly, I periodically feed in a shredder oil sheet. I was so impressed with this shredder that I bought another one as a gift for my mom, who needed to securely dispose of years of confidential documents for a family member. Every time we talk, she raves about how much she loves it! ... show more

  • Beast of a shredder
Style: 10-Sheet Micro-cut
As the title says this is a beast of a shredder. Was torn between getting this 10-sheet, micro-cut version or the 15-sheet, cross-cut version, the AU1562XA. Both units share the same body, and I'm probably the same motor as they both boast 60 minute continuous run time. While those 5 extra sheets per feed would definitely make big shred jobs go quicker, I felt that it was harder to find good, heavy-duty micro-cut shredders that could handle 10 sheets, AND had a P-5 security level. Not to mention it was cheaper while on sale. Meanwhile, 14-16 sheet P-4 crosscut shredders are much easier to find, although this line of Aurora's seems to be quite robust with extremely long run times, which most competitors lack. I don't regret my decision one bit. Some reviewers said that this model was slow, but it truthfully, it absolutely rips through stacks of paper. Aurora's documentation on their shredders seems to be full of errors, but if their websites are to be believed, the AU1060MA's motor has a feed speed of 5.9 feet per minute. The AU1562XA either has the exact same feed speed, or it's only a bit faster at 6.6 feet per minute (Aurora's main website and their store seem to contradict each other on this). I'm inclined to believe that the 15 sheet _is_ faster since it's cross-cut, but if it's only 0.7 ft. per minute faster, that's really not that much. Yeah, sure, if you're shredding thousands of pages, the 15 sheet will burn through them much faster since those extra 5 pages add up, but just in terms of raw feed speed, this thing is no slouch. I'm a pretty impatient person, and I'm quite surprised at how quickly this thing is ready to accept another bunch of papers. It shreds quite seamlessly. What's nice is that they've rated these shredders very accurately. This one has no problem shredding right up to the 10-sheet limit, unlike my old 8-sheet Fellowes, which would grind to a halt if you dared feed more than 4 pages into it. I'm pretty confident that their rating is more conservative than it needs to be, but 10 sheets is plenty and I'd rather not risk damaging the motor. There's no significant slowdown as far as I can tell from doing all 10 pages. You can hear the motor strain a bit more, but it still happily chews them up. The P-5 shred size is nice, although probably overkill for most consumers. Cross-cut does a pretty decent job already, but this is just insanely small. It literally turns paper into confetti. I think if you were into vermiculture or composting, this would be a great use for the smaller shred size (yes, it can handle thin cardboard, but don't try to put corrugated cardboard in it.) One practical benefit of the smaller shred size is that it compacts much better than cross-cut, meaning less time spent emptying the bin. Speaking of the bin, this might be the weak point of the shredder. They've added some nice features to it, such as small wheels on its underside, which make removal quite easy even when full. That said, I think the bin itself could have used thicker plastic. It flexes a bit when you're holding it, so I'd be careful when moving it around to empty it. Also, while removal is smooth, it doesn't really snap back into the unit as smoothly as I might like. You kind of have to wiggle it around until it locks back in place. Time will tell for how well it holds up. My only other complaint is that the throat size, while perfectly sufficient for most papers, could be a bit wider. I've found myself shredding some pages that were just a bit wider than the throat would easily accept, either because those pages were some strange size, or they just didn't want to compress with the rest of the stack. They'll go in, and don't cause any issues, but it is a minor annoyance to have to shove them in. That said, your standard US letter or A4 paper will have no problem being fed into the machine. Form factor wise, it's a bit big, but the footprint isn't that much larger than a waste basket. It is kind of tall though. It'll fit under a desk just fine, but in tighter spots you might not have the clearance. You could probably remove the casters, if you needed to save an inch in height. Can't really think of what else to say about this thing. If you do a moderate amount of shredding, this thing is worth it. I wouldn't get it if you only shred junk mail (cheaper, smaller units would do the job), nor would I get it if you have to shred 1,000s of papers day in and day out (something with an automatic document feeder or larger capacity would be better). But it's more than capable of doing the occasional banker's box (or boxes) worth of documents. ... show more

  • Finally, a shredder that's designed for max security
Style: 8-Sheet Micro-Cut
Early paper shredders cut sheets into strips that a bright nine-year-old could paste back together; eventually they got more sophisticated until "cross-cut" was the norm, but those still leave pieces of paper that may or may not have strings of numbers or whatever that you'd rather not have sitting in a dumpster somewhere. This one basically grinds the paper into what looks like the tiny blobs that are left over at the bottom of the bowl of popcorn next to the old maids. There is absolutely no way any information can be gotten from that mulch, so this is the current state-of-the-art in shredders. It's very quiet, it doesn't get noticeably hot, and the tub of scraps pulls out from the front, so there's no lifting the whole massive head of the thing just to empty it. So a great design in that respect too. I've read reviews where the LEDs used to auto-detect a sheet being put into the slot can burn out, so unplugging the unit after every use is a good idea - otherwise that LED is always on and its lifespan is going to be shortened. No problems so far. 'Happy with this thing and wish I'd have gotten one years ago. ... show more
