  • Wifi can be configured with just an iPhone and without any app
Color: Black
This printer sets itself up as a temporary hotspot, you connect to it, login, enter your wifi info and it immediately switches over to that. Mine worked first time so I don’t know how it handles things if you mistype something and it can’t connect to your network. After unpacking and preparing the toner cart and plugging it in, loading some paper and turning it on: 1. Press the Wifi button on the printer to print out the wifi info 1. On your iphone look for and join a new wireless network by the name printed on the sheet you just printed, it is the name of the wifi hotspot that the printer creates. Mine was named ‘DIRECT-15-Pantum P2500 Series’. The wifi password is also on that sheet you printed, mine was 12345678. You (must be within range of the printer) NOTE: your phone might fall back onto LTE because it detects that this hotspot does not connect to the internet. I had to disable Cellular in the phone settings. 2. Open a browser and in the address line type “192.168.223.1”. That is the address of the printer in it’s role of pretending to be a hotspot router. Hit enter, you should see a web page appear. 3. Select Login from the task bar on top of the page 4. The user name is ‘admin’ and the password is ‘000000’. Note: THAT IS SIX ZEROS NOT EIGHT 5. You should now be logged in as the administrator of the printer, click the settings tab 6. Click wireless settings and then click on your network name in the list that should appear. Enter the wifi password and voila - you lose the temporary hotspot connection and the printer is now on your wifi network. Go switch back to your normal network and print something. I tested it from my iphone by printing a pdf. During printing my inverter crowbar’d and I had to switch to a bigger inverter (600w sinewave didn’t handle it, 1500w did fine). When it powered back up it had an attention light lit, I pressed continue and the print job I had been attempting then restarted but I was out of paper, I got another attention light, loaded more paper, hit the continue button and the job completed no problem. I am impressed. ... show more

  • Works great for rough environments!
Color: Black
I purchased this printer to use in my tiny house where I was limited on space and needed something that could handle changing environments. Inkjets always clogged up and went bad for me before I would even hit a year with them and got frustrated by their performance. Being a laserjet, this handles environments way better and prints quite quickly. Personally, I chose black and white because I wanted something economical however I believe they make color models as well. So, if you find yourself annoyed with the poor performance of inkjet printers, then this would be a great option for us! ... show more

  • A little bit of work too install according to which OS
Color: Black
Using the Windows Install disk that came in the box, I had no trouble installing to windows 7 even without the SP1 upgrade, but on Windows 10, it failed to print anything. The fix on that was to reboot. The install file to click on the disk is "autorun.exe" Sort of a different story installing to my Linux machines, and maybe below will give you some light for an attempt at that yourself. My steps were : (1) I went to the "driver - Pantum" site (2) Then download the driver for my Linux machine by putting in the details of the Pantum printer model, etc. (3) I unzipped the downloaded file (4) Opened its Resource folder ( In my case, on a deb 64 bit machine, ) (5) I right clicked on the sub folder named "pantum_1.1.99-1_amd64.deb" and chose, "open with Gdeb package installer". (On my other Linux machines which are 32 bit, I right clicked on the i386 deb install folder instead.) (6) I clicked through all the continue buttons to complete the install. (7) In my Linux Mint machine, I opened the Linux menu and looked for the installed Pantum printer and It was not there. (8) So, on the printer dialog screen, I had to click the "ADD" printer button then locate the printer name from a list, then clicked it to add. (9) After all the continue buttons, I hit "Print Test Page". Mine worked, hopefully yours will. Linux can be stubborn sometimes when it comes to installing printers. My Linux Peppermint OS machine added the printer automatically without me having to look for it in a list. Note that when you click print, you'll think nothing is going to happen. That's because it takes about 5 or 6 seconds to load what it needs to begin. ... show more

  • Will only work on 2.4ghz WiFi.... *NOT* 5ghz
Color: Black
Prints fine. VERY quick, considering... kind of noisy... Honestly, this is a GREAT budget black and white laser printer. Only complaint is it only supports the older WiFi standard, and that really wasn't made clear in the product description (a lot of reviews state they couldn't get WiFi to work - this is probably why). Not a big deal - there are several workarounds, and you can always set your router to 2.4ghz (Just Google it. You'll figure it out... or get some kid to help you. This is merely today's version of figuring out how to program your VCR. I decided to just keep mine plugged into the hub I use as a docking station with the dedicated scanner and the bigger monitor. That's good enough for my home office...) It's a pretty good printer all in all. Better than any I've owned before - and I actually really LIKE that it's a dedicated device, rather than a big all-in-one... It's got a small footprint (not much bigger than a sheet of paper, actually) nicely compact, seems durable, the feeders fold up, so it could probably travel really well if I ever need it to.... Is it a GREAT printer...? No. It's a four-star laser printer at best, even with high-quality paper. But is it a great "for-what-it-is, budget, wireless, laser-quality monochrome printer...? Yes. Absolutely. :-) Brilliant little home printer for a quick few pages of pretty much anything, very economical, can handle some serious volume occasionally (it does get warm after about 20 pages... remains to be seen if it overheats... it did fine with 50...) I like it. I'm glad I bought it. I hope it lasts. ... show more
