I've been using this model for HVAC for maybe five years now. It is very accurate. I've tested it against high end temp meters, other thermometers, boiling water. It needs to be accurate for charging ACs and it is. The first one I had lasted for years until I dropped it(for the 20th time) and the button broke. Then I ordered a new one and it came with a broken button. I exchanged it and the button broke again after 3 months. Looking closer at the button, it's just two little plastic tabs that seem to push down on the battery. If one of those breaks, it's toast. Anyways, I emailed oxo(past Amazon's return date) and they sent me a new one right away. No strings attached. I wish I had more faith in the button, but at least Oxo takes care of you. ... show more

As a professional cook, I broke the on/off button within 2 weeks of use. Whoops. The case on it has some great temperature guidelines which I love. The on/off button I mentioned is right on top of the whole thing and I must have subjected it to rigorous stress because it became stuck after a short while. Completely my fault for working too hard.
