I received the heater today and everything was pretty much as I expected it to be. Installation was simple, just screwing in the unit to the base and then screwing in the carrying handle and wire guard. The unit certainly creates heat. On high, it keeps me warm from about eight feet away. If I were to find one thing to improve about it, I would make the base a little larger so the device was a little more stable.

I bought this heater listed at $147.99 with a $50 coupon to knock it down into the $90 range. Now... the seller increased the price to $167.99 and added a $20 coupon to bring it back to the original $147.99 price so they could get the high markup and look like they're giving you a deal. I DO NOT recommend this heater at this insane price. I don't recommend it much at over $100. Tacking on an extra $20 because it's fall is disingenuous. Especially for a Chinese heater as basic as this. It probably costs $20 from China. The prices individuals are selling cheap Chinese goods for on Amazon isn't right. If it were a "Made in the USA" product, it would be worth this price. My grandfather used to have these same heaters 40 yrs ago. It heats up the metal coils and radiates the heat off them. That's it. There's no fan, no temperature control (aside of high, medium, low), no sleep timer, no remote, or any sort of advanced controls for this unit. It's literally the same basic functionality I saw as a kid from my grandfather, except a 1000% markup. As far as the heating, it works well. They always have, which is why the tech is still used. It gets very hot. Much hotter than the ceramic heaters that blow out warm air. I use it outside on my back patio. For those with children... Because this unit heats up metal coils for the heat, it is susceptible to causing burns if touched. The metal housing gets warm as well, which is normal for these types of units. Just make sure you know what you're getting. If flammables, like blankets, curtains, clothes, ect..., are placed close to this heater, they are capable of catching fire. Again, I would not recommend any basic IR heater like this at much over $100. The heater rating would be 4 stars, though I don't know about longevity and it's wiring quality, and value would be 1 star at their $167 asking price.

I purchased this heater based on an article titled “Best Outdoor Patio Heaters” (rating of 9.7/10), and product reviews on Amazon (all 5 stars). The product was delivered quickly, and was easy to setup. The product specifications state the heating coverage is 270 (presumably square feet). My patio is 144 square feet which should easily fit within the coverage parameters. However, the heat could only be felt if we were directly in front of the unit. This is not enough output to heat an outdoor patio! I was looking for an alternative to propane, but will have to purchase a propane heater. Very disappointed!
