I am one of those people who wants to be outside as much as possible for as long as possible. I have bundled up in coats and blankets in winter to spend an hour in the sun on the deck. This heater is a dream come true. It has finally gotten cool enough to give it a test run or two in the evenings. We haven’t been disappointed. We have a relatively small deck but it is open on 3 sides. This little heater has provided a nice amount of heat to keep us toasty and warm within about a 10 foot distance. It might do fine on a bigger deck as well. This was easy to assemble. I particularly appreciate the tip guard so I feel safe having it on the deck. The remote control is a nice touch as is the small slot at the top for storage. It has a nice little handle which makes it easy to move around. We’ve kept it inside so haven’t exposed it to rain and don’t intend to. It would be nice if it had a cover for when it is not in use and a waterproof one for outdoors would be really ideal. To us that’s such a no-brainer inclusion that it seems worth a star in rating. Based on how much heat this puts out we’re pretty sure we’ll be able to extend the deck entertaining season by at least a month on each end. And for us and morning coffee - we’re looking forward to trying it out all winter long. ... show more

    • Too powerful
This heated up really quickly and worked really well. However it was too powerful for my outdoor outlets it kept blowing the fuse. I’m trying to find other ways to be able to use it, because overall I really like it. It has really nice features like automatic shutoff if tipped over.     • Nice heating unit, decent amount of heat and being out door rated is a plus
While its not just the right temperature outside where i live to truly make use of this heater at the moment I did take some time in the more recent evenings to just give this a test run and see how it did and if it works as promised. As for the basics, remote works fine, as expected. Functions such as the timer function and such also worked as expected. One of the kids did bump into it on the porch and well, I can say its reasonably durable and it did turn off automatically after being knocked over so that's been confirmed as functional if not intentionally tested. haha. I didn't test how water proof it is, also not sure its something I'd want to test really as it will be under an out door patio anyway however I am sure it will happen eventually. Good news is that it was on the lower end in terms of actual noise coming from the unit while operating. I set the temp (measured settings are in watts) at 1170 as it was sufficient really to give off some good heat given the overall outdoor conditions. The only thing I'd comment on is heating range in terms of distance from the unit. Ideally everyone's situation is different, how high the ceiling is from the unit, if some of the side of the patio are enclosed or not, etc... but in my case with everything being open and the ceiling being over 11ft high and on an angle upward I have to say that when we moved about 10 - 15 feet out we noticed we didn't get as much heat from the unit and in fact felt almost no feet at 15 feet out. Many reasons this could be the case and so I'd thought I'd share as everyone's situation is different. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This works quite well as far as heating an area around it. The directions to assemble it were fairly simple to use with only a few minor grammatical issues. The unit has a timer for 1-9 hours of runtime and nine different power levels. All the functions on the remote can also run off the front knob of the unit and the remote can store in the top of the unit. The controls are fairly simple to figure out the remote is really simple to use the dial uses a few hold functions for different settings but this is all noted on the unit. When in lock mode a lock icon shows and if try to adjust it flashes and beeps. I think be nice on the deck, garage or sunroom. This does not really say if can leave it outside or not when not in use. I'd bring it in just to be safe I guess. I think the knob on the bottom while may keep that area cool and it has a remote I think it would be nicer to have to0 controls on the top somewhat as some people have trouble bending over. I think a larger tilt switch end would be nice too so it does not turn off if ends up in a small crack in the deck, etc. ... show more

This is a nice looking patio/porch heater that’ll put out some good heat. That is, provided you’re sitting pretty close to it. Be sure you know that you’re getting a radiant heater. It heats like the sun. There is no forced air fan with this kind of heater. Ignore one of the images in the amazon listing that says this has 3 levels. As other parts of the listing correctly state, this heater has just 3 settings: off, level 1 and level 2. So two heat levels. Low and high. Sitting out on the porch in 50 degree weather, it feels nice on the high setting. But this porch is small. 10 ft long at most and just 6 ft wide. Ultimately my review takes in the fact that this heater is very basic. 2 levels, no remote control, no timer, no oscillation capability. And for such a basic heater, is the price really warranted? It’s very expensive for what you’re getting. Case in point, just visit the “Haimmy Store” and you’ll find a taller heater (42 inches as opposed to this one at 21 inches) and it includes a remote control and a timer and … it costs substantially LESS. Um, why? ... show more

This patio heater is really nice and sleek and has many features that make this convenient to use. It is perfect for chilly evenings when you still want to enjoy the outdoors and for sitting outside hanging out with friends.
