I bought this because I am a smoker who does not smoke in my house. So I like to sit on my porch and watch tv or read on my kindle, but I realized that the cold isn't good for my ipad. When the battery gets low and I plug in the charger, the battery level won't go up, it just stays at the percentage it is when I plug it in. The area I use this heater in is about 5X10. It's like an alcove, with the doors to the porch and a wall on each side and I put up a screen to keep bugs out. So not a very large area. The coldest day so far when I used the heater was about 34* F and it did a great job. I have it aimed at the table and chair I use and it keeps my devices and myself nice and warm. It obviously doesn't warm the entire porch, anyone using this outdoors would have to be in close proximity and have it facing them. I also have it placed on an 11in. step stool so that the heat is aimed exactly where I need it. Yes, it's perfectly safe and because it's not very heavy, it's easy to pick up or move it. So for what I wanted this for, I think it's great. I've used it nearly every day since I bought it a month ago. It's easy to use and you know by the lights if its on, even when you have the heart turned off. There's a switch on the back that shuts it down completely and I use that when I go inside. I also like how nice it looks compared to others I was looking at when I was shopping for one. Most have bars over the heating element, which I don't like the look of, but the kind on this one make it look nicer, giving it a cleaner look while still doing it's job. I think I made a good decision when I chose this one and I would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about getting one.
