  • and it wasn't too bad. I had already freed the upper ball joint ...
AWSOME!!! I'd give it 10 stars if I could. I just used this to seperate the knuckles on my 2000 F350 4x4. It's currently 18 deg out in my drive where the truck The pickle fork I had was too narrow to fit the lower ball joints, so I ordered this set since it had a 1 1/8" fork. My dad gave me his air hammer (1970's snap-on), but it was cold enough that I didn't want to drag out my compressor. I had been able to tear the front end down to this point a few weeks ago when the weather was a lot warmer. I used the manual handle to get the drivers side out, and it wasn't too bad. I had already freed the upper ball joint using my other fork, and was able to free the lower ball joint in just a few minutes using this fork an a 3# sledge. I wasn't so lucky on the passenger side. The same 1 1/8" fork freed the upper ball joint in a mater of seconds, but I couldn't budge the lower. I beat on it till my arm felt like it was going to fall off. I even tried heating the knuckle with a propane torch but no joy. Drug the compressor and air hammer out, and switched handles. Less than a minute later, the lower was free and I had the knuckle off. This was amazing! ... show more

  • Excellent quality
OTC is a very good brand, I've purchased other tools from them before. The three sizes fit most/all ball joints and with my air hammer control arms and ball joints are a piece of cake. If you do a lot of suspension work this tool is a MUST

  • Worked better than expected
Works better than I could have hoped, I was hesitant at first due to the fact they need to be screwed together. However they tighten up nicely and I think as long as you strike the tool square with a hammer and don't try to pry at the joint while using in a pneumatic hammer they will last just fine. If your using these for weekend warrior work they will likely last a lifetime but If I was swinging hammers at these for a career I would probably just buy the different size solid ones. It has a nice textured chrome finish that cleans up well, quality knurling on the manual handle, 5 strikes with a 10 lb. sledge barely left a mark. Made in Taiwan, for OTC but if you didnt read the label youd swear these were forged in the USA. Another win for OTC. ... show more

  • This set is great! I recently had to change the ball joints ...
This set is great! I recently had to change the ball joints on a '99 Yukon 4x4 and could not for the life of me find a "pickle fork" anywhere that was big enough to separate the lower ball joint. After searching auto parts, hardware and tool stores to no avail, I actually resorted to cutting and drilling to get the first one done. I finally grew a brain and checked on Amazon for a proper tool. I found this one, next day aired it and kept my fingers crossed. It arrived just as I was about to tackle the remaining lower ball joint on the other side. I used the largest fork with the pneumatic attachment to get it wedged in as far as the air hammer would go, swapped over to the manual handle and gave it 3 good whacks with a hammer and presto! What took me 2 days to accomplish the hard way, this tool did in 2 minutes with little effort. ... show more

  • A lifesaver
Love it! It got me rollin forward since I'm swapping my control arms in my cousin's garage and I couldn't separate the ball joints manually. Got myself an air hammer from lowes, ordered this kit, highly satisfied it's like the blue point one I used back when I'd wrench for a check. Highly recommend this product I'm beyond satisfied!!! ... show more

  • It broke the first time used
The first time I used the 4559-1 air chisel adapter, it broke. I should have known better than buy the off-shore made STINGER brand, I feel stung..... The US/Owatonna, MN built OTC tools are great, the Stingers not so much. I worked for the company for many years when they rolled the Stinger brand out, and bought into it... but not anymore! ... show more

  • Makes life easier
I like this set because it gives you the option to use a hammer or an air hammer... I chose the air hammer for my job of replacing pitman arm and idler arm. The case makes it easy to store till you need it again

  • Well worth owning if you have stubborn ball joints!
I got this fork set under duress. My F-250 ball joints would not separate with any of the tools I had on hand, so I ordered this set and an Ingersoll Rand air hammer. Once both tools arrived from amazon, it took me a grand total of 30 seconds to do the job. It always helps to have the right tools and the pickle forks looked brand new after I was done. I really like the knurled handle. I own a race car and often have to work on it at the track where there isn't always compressed air available. With this tool in my box, I can always use a hammer if need be! ... show more
