This set is great, with a few issues. Like the title says. If you change ball joints you need this set. Yes, you can rent a set at most auto parts places and hope the tool they give you isn't so beat up its unusable and has the cups you need. Or you can get this set and KNOW you have what you need... mostly. I used it on an F-250 and had to use a piece of flat stock as the combination of cups I needed was too long for the C-clamp to fit. For most cars this wouldn't be an issue. The only design flaw I found was that the cups are not set up to lock together. In most cases the user has to stack cups together so the ball joint has clearance to be pressed out. This makes it so the user has to have thee or more hands or a helper to keep the cups aligned while tightening the clamp. When working alone, this can get very frustrating. Other than that, the set worked great and was well worth the money. I recommend it for even the home diy guy, like myself. ... show more

I was skeptical in my purchase of this press as the reviews are not great. folks experienced stripped screw shafts, bent frame etc, stating that its a one time use tool. I replaced all four ball joints on a 2014 Ram 2500HD and the tool held up with no issue. Be sure to grease the screw shaft liberally before use and implementing a large hammer to persuade those factory OEM joints out was helpful. Even after beating on the press with a 4lb sledge (although its now missing some paint) the tools is still in working condition and useable. EMF ball joints has a great tutorial video on YT of removal and installation (watch it first) I also purchased the "master ball joint installer/remover adapter set" from OEM (which you will need) and while it is quite cumbersome finding the right combination of adapter sleeves to press the joints out and back in, it ultimately worked! To get this out of the way first it only gets 4 stars due to a mess of shipping this to me and it needing to be reshipped, so I waited quite a long time for this to show up. Other than that, the kit impresses me. I replaced ram 2500 ball joints with this and it survived one heck of an abusive removal/install process. The process involved putting as much pressure as I could on it and then smacking the c clamp or the knuckle, any the only real problems was one of the small cups got a dent in it and I lost some green paint on the c clamp. The quality is good and the selection of cups is great. I’m super happy with this tool and I’m happy to have this heavy case in my tool box. ... show more

Worked exactly as planned. The trackball ball joint on my 2015 F250 was too tall to use the standarlength C-clamp. This made it easy work to get it out.

To be honest I expected more for what I paid. Lots of different sizes which is great. Nice case, make sure to draw arrows facing up. First time I opened it upside down and had to figure out where everything went. I got about halfway through a front end rebuild and said nah, It’s going back. For ball joints it’s ok for bushings don’t get this. Problems 1. It’s too short. Not enough space between the clamp only 6in. I had to rig it up with in a weird way just to get it to fit most of the time. 2. Ball baring and end slid right out of the screw shaft. (See picture) After first use they fell out. I tried without it and it really does help having it. It was annoying picking them up off the ground. 3. One of the press is no longer circle it’s an oval. (See picture) I noticed that after pressing, that’s a little alarming and quite annoying. I’d rather pay half the price for a kit that has the same issues. ... show more
