I bought these drops a while ago just for occassional toning. I have light/medium brown hair with blonde highlights that can start to turn a bit yellowish in between colorings. At first I didn't find it that effective because I was mixing it in with my shampoo and conditioner and only using a few drops at a time but a few weeks ago I used a semi-permanent clear gloss that turned my roots bright orange and remembered reading a review here of someone who had success applying these drops directly to her hair and not mixing them with anything else. I tried a gazillion different toning products to hide the orange but found what helped the most were these drops applied directly and undiluted to my roots and then topped with Bold Uniq's purple hair mask also applied just on my roots. I let it sit for twenty minutes and the two products together did a great job of toning the orange/brass way way down. Fwiw, I think these drops undiluted would have worked well on my roots without the Bold Uniq mask but since I had both I used both. Overall these drops are a fantastic value and they work great, even if it takes a little trial and error to figure out the right amount for your specific hair needs. After multiple uses my bottle is still half full. Also, I like the flexibility of being able to mix this into other products for light toning or to use undiluted for intense toning. ... show more

Style: Toning Drops
These drops are great because you can add them to any hair products you desire. I've been turning grey slowly and have noticed that the ends of my hair are getting a little yellow due to sun exposure (I have black hair and the ends of the black also get a little sun bleached in CA). I've been adding this to my conditioner (I only co-wash my curly hair, hardly ever shampoo) as well as my leave-in conditioner. It's easy to use and you can add as much as you want to anything. I've even added it to my bottle of conditioner so that I don't have to mix it each time. I've noticed that it toned down the brassiness of my hair but notice it more on the black than on the grey. The grey has improved, but not back into the silver that's closer to the new growth grey color. The scent is pleasant, though can get strong if you use a lot, so I would prefer that the scent be toned down or not be present at all. I've been using it for a couple months and am fairly happy with it. I'll continue to use it as hopefully it will prevent the discoloration better than it does to fix already yellowing grey. ... show more

I have screwed up and left myself a head of coppery brass. This product hasn't taken it all away but to be honest nothing can until I fix my hair. However, it's made a heck of a dent. At first I was afraid to use too much because it's almost ink-like but don't let that put you off. After I got the hang of it I use one part of the drops to two parts of shampoo, conditioner and heat protectant. You may not need as much as me but as it washes right out there's minimal risk. Not Brad Mondo quality but I'm on a fixed income, soooo....there's that. This is a really good second as it's hyper-pigmented. But you can also use only a drop or two if that's all you need. I'm just box-dye-stupid. It's not particularly moisturizing but saying that, it's not drying either. Pretty neutral. I only wish I could mix it with the hair oil I use (doesn't mix with oil). ... show more

This product doesn't do much to tone the brassiness in my bleached hair. When I mix it with the conditioner, it makes the conditioner seem a little clumpy and less creamy, but it goes on my hair fine i guess. I noticed right away that this is more of a deep blue instead of purple like many others I have used, but it doesn't turn my hair green (yellow + blue = green), so I am happy about that. I've used it 3 or 4 times so far, and I leave it on about 4 minutes each time. I gave this product 3 stars because I am very neutral about it. It doesn't work for me, but it may for others. It doesn't smell bad. It doesn't leave my hair feeling too dry or too oily. It doesn't stain my hands (I mix in a silicone bowl, and use my hands to apply to hair), and it would be a good value for the money, if it worked. (Backstory, skip forward for list of Pros) I have tried this brand of shampoo before and it wasn’t anything special. The smell, effect on my hair, amount I needed to use to cover my scalp. I thought I’d give this brand a second try with their purple shampoo and it was such a better experience!! It felt like salon shampoo to me! Pros: 1)Sulfate free 2)Concentrated. Some sulfate free shampoos don’t lather and feel drying and like they are mostly water so you feel like you need more shampoo to get your hair clean. And then you need extra conditioner after to undue all the dryness. This is thick. A little goes a long way. 3)Dark purple color. I read that the darker the color, usually the more effective it is. This is super dark and I noticed a difference on my brassiness after one use. I put it on and lathered and left it on while I shaved. 4)Pleasant smell. Fragrance is very personal I know. To me this smells lovely and luxurious. Maybe a little fruity, a little floral, a little vanilla. If you can’t do fragrance at all, I would skip this. 5)So smooth! I don’t think I’ve ever used a shampoo that made my hair feel this good. It feels soft when rinsing the shampoo out. I still use conditioner because my hair is long and tangles but I actually may not need to with this shampoo. It feels so silky! If I use my same conditioner, same leave in spray conditioner, and style it the same, it turns out looking healthier and shinier and I know the only thing I did differently is the shampoo. This is a winner! I have wavy hair, medium density, not super thin or super thick, dirty blonde with some blonder highlights in front. ... show more
