Bought 2, work like a charm. Replaced my August locks. These are much quicker to respond in App and using Matter via HomeKit. Just note, when setting up the devices, you still need to be somewhat near the device and the Matter base station, whichever HomePod or Apple TV serves it. Matter is not perfect at all...but the Nuki app is great. What I especially like is that it is all local, meaning no accounts, no logins, nothing.     • Not plug and play
May be it's me - but I could not get this smart lock to connect and actually work. I had to factory reset couple of times and still could not get it to work. Install is easy but the app is less than user-friendly. There is no unlock or lock button in the app? Whenever is checked connection status, it was not connected to Bluetooth. The lock is stylish but it's not ready for prime time in terms of user friendliness. Stuff like this needs to be installed and working the first time.     • Update: Matter finally working but ridiculous 30 day wait for referral bonus (door sensor)!
Currently using an August Smartlock which works great but wifi connectivity drains the battery incredibly fast which is why I have this Austrian product a try since it officially supports MATTER which is more accurate and saves energy. Unfortunaly I am unable to properly establish a connection to matter via Apple's Home app when following their instructions on my iPhone. Even factory reset the lock. Big bummer. Reached out to their tech support and will return this device unless they can fix this shortly. We shall see... If it works as advertised, I will update this review. Door sensor is not included and adds another $60. Update July 10, 2025: After resetting and restarting the lock numerous times I finally got it working and it has now been working reliably for about a week. Matter interference with certain Wi-Fi channels seems to be an issue that many users are encountering. Also, I successfully referred a friend who also purchased a Nuki lock and now have to wait a full additional month before the reward door sensor is being sent which is ridiculous. Hopefully this will change as it defeats the purpose. Apart from those two noticeable issues the Nuki smart lock seems to be a solid solution.
