These worked great replacing the old lava rocks of many years. They heat up fast and hold the heat. I gave it 4 stars because I went to a hardware store and they were only $11 a bag while I paid double on Amazon.

Price and delivery were important factors in purchase, but overall size of lava rock was a bit of a disappointment. Many were usable right out of the bag but too many were small enough to fall through the air vents in the bottom of our propane grill.
