  • A very smart vacuum and mop robot which does a very impressive job
Size: Freo Z Ultra White
I wanted to use this vacuuming and mopping robot for at least a month before I wrote a review, so I really could get to know how to properly use it and how it performs. It is so easy to use. Technically, you could get started immediately once you plug in the charging station and give it some time to charge. Out of box, the only assembly is popping on the cleaning 'whiskers', slipping the mop pads on, and popping in the detergent container which is already pre-filled. For a fast start, you just push the button on top of it and if it's the first time, it will go around and map out the rooms in your home. Once mapped, you can just start him manually by pushing the button and use all the defaults set up or better yet, add the app to your phone and you can see all the settings and modes you can use. For instance, you can do regular vacuum suction or super-powerful suction. Or, for area rugs (or any rug actually), you can tell it to vacuum it, cross over it (skip it), or don't even get on it at all- side step it entirely. Each run, he's (I named him Wally) constantly updating his surroundings so your map will get better each time. He will do one room at a time and do the outside boundary first including baseboards if you want him too, then he goes back and fills it all in. He will stop on occasion to go back to his base to either recharge (although he carries a charge for at least 2 hours at full force capacity and mopping.), empty his dust tray (it gets sucked up and compacted in the main dust bag in the base), or to rewet and clean his mop heads. There's a smart mode where you can just let the robot decide what to do- he knows if it's carpet, tile, hardwood, area rug, etc. He's very quiet, I usually cannot hear him at all when one room over or more. In fact, we had the football game on when he came into the family room and it didn't even bother us where we needed to turn up the volume. It's not a whisper, but it's not loud. Kind of like constant 'white noise' in the background. If he somehow gets stuck, he can call for help by making sounds. Or, if you don't know where he is, you can either just look at the app and you can see him moving or where he's stuck right on your map. If he does get stuck somehow, you can opt to receive a text. I do this, and it says exactly what's going on, error code, what room he's in, you can even see the path he took in each room for that particular cleaning cycle. Back to getting stuck, he does an excellent job of avoiding obstacles, but I initially forgot to mark certain areas where I want him to skip in the app. (This is easy to do, you just shade in the area on your map and he will avoid it, but make sure he has access to a path in or out or past it - he follows instructions so if for instance you block too much and cover the door way leading back out of a room, he will stop and send you a message. I forgot to mark under my bed as a no go zone, so once under there it was like an obstacle course, things shifted, there were wires and cords, etc so he got stuck. Not his fault, it was mine for not keeping him out of there. You can set up a schedule in the app where you decide which days of the week, how often, which tasks (mop, vacuum, or both), and which rooms or entire house). He's connected to your phone via a bluetooth connection so you need wifi. We had no dead spots or issues so this was a non-issue but I just wanted to bring that up. Also, if he's vacuuming and let's say he can't get it all in the first swoop, he'll go back and do it again. If he still doesn't have it all, he will repeat this multiple times until either it's cleaned up or it's just not gonna come out- this is for both mopping and vacuuming. His base takes up about as much room as a home office sized paper shredder. If you need help or have a question on how to do something a certain way, their customer support has always gotten back to me within 24 hours via email- or you can call. I hope you found all of this helpful. I would definitely recommend you get yourself this model (Freo Ultra Z). ... show more

  • Easy, dual-action cleaning from my favorite robotic minion
Size: Flow
We just moved into a new home, and the main floor is mostly engineered plank. With three small dogs, it was difficult to keep things looking clean and tidy, mostly because neither my wife nor I felt like sweeping and mopping every other day. We had a Samsung robotic vacuum at our last house, and its performance was disappointing, so we were skeptical about robotic vacuums in general. Still, with so much floor space in need of tending, we thought we'd give someone else a try. Enter the Narwal Flow. After a few weeks of fully automatic cleaning every other night, we've been converted to True Believers. The Flow was easy to set up and is even easier to use. I had it set up and doing its first mapping/patrolling within 15 minutes. Every other night, Mr. Narwal leaves his dock, patiently sweeps up all the grass, dirt, and other assorted dog-related grime, and when he's finished, he mops everything for good measure. The AI does a decent job with avoiding obstacles and self-correcting. It alerts me via the app if it gets into trouble and needs a helping hand. I've had to dislodge some area rug grip pads a few times, but I simply yank them out, and Mr. Narwal gets back to business with one click. The broad roller mop is what sold us on this particular robot, and I feel like it was the right choice for our floor. I can't see any streaks or cleaning marks, and it does a stellar job of cleaning without overwatering. I don't even use cleaning solution for the mopping; straight tap water seems to be doing the job. Since it only takes a minute, I empty the waste tank and fill the water reservoir every other deployment. The app is pretty straightforward, and it's fun to see the robot's progress as it zips around our house. You can even activate the cameras on the robot and see through its eyes if you want to go looking for wayward pets while you're away. Speaking of pets, we were worried that our dogs would be terrified of this thing, but after the first few deployments, they've pretty much accepted that it's not a threat and generally ignore it. Your mileage may differ, but it's a win for us. We've only had Mr. Narwal for about a month, but I definitely recommend this robot. It's easy to use and does a decent job on both our area rugs and vinyl plank flooring. Yes, he's a bit pricier than some models, but it feels like a good investment. Recommended. ... show more

  • Loving it!!!
Size: Flow
I’m so happy with my purchase! I upgraded from a Roomba j7+ and this thing is so much smarter. I’m so impressed with its mopping capabilities. I spent HOURS researching what combo robot vacuum to buy and while this one is newer to the market, once I read about how hygienic it is - I was sold. No regrets. Floors are so clean. No streaks. It’s not just spreading dirt around, it’s genuinely cleaning the floors similar to how my bissell cross wave does. And the heat drying of the mop pads, tanks, and tubing is legit. Every time I check the mop pads after drying, they’re bone dry. The app is a little confusing but overall, not bad. Tons of customizations and settings. I don’t have it on a schedule yet, I tell it when and where to run. But that works for me and I get excited to see how dirty the water is afterwards. Easy to send it out for spot treatments/spills. It’s also much MUCH quieter than my roomba was even on the highest settings. It mapped my home fairly quickly too and the obstacle avoidance is impression. The one con I’ve seen so far is the detergent is pretty expensive. I’ve just been doing 1 cap per tank vs 1-3 like Narwal recommends. So far so good! Overall, it’s a great product. Well made. Smart. Excellent connectivity so far too. It picks up so much gunk that you wouldn’t see with the naked eye. I’m obsessed! I anticipate having to do some deep vacuuming every so often but I doubt I’ll be using my traditional mop for a long time. This is so much more efficient and hygienic. ... show more
