Last time I bought a heavy-duty tilt mechanism, it lasted a couple years like the original one (I'm 220lbs, near-daily office use). When this one arrived the beefyness was obvious; this uses MUCH thicker steel, thte welds are good, the points of reinforcement are obvious, and has a bit more resistance when I tilt back. It fit the hole pattern perfectly, and was a cinch to install (or maybe I'm getting used to doing this). I do miss that this one isn't as easy to tilt back lazily so I can slouch as I did before, but maybe I'll have better posture now. I'm confident I won't have to replace this one.

I thought my chair was done. The bottom metal mechanism actually fractured after 6 years of working from home. I loved that chair and reluctantly bought a replacement that was inferior. After the replacement came and I realized how much better my old chair was I ordered this to see if I could even fix it. Because why not try? The part came well packaged and was surprisingly easy to install. It is durable and strong construction. However the bottom mechanism was crazy hard to separate from the wheels I would recommend a mallet or a hammer with a pillow or multi-folded rag. But after this device itself was still easy to screw in, just 4 bolts. I have used it extensively, it works flawlessly and is a great value for the money as it brought new life to a great chair that I loved and wasn't ready to get rid of.

I ordered the 5.9" x 8.6" office chair tilt mechanism for my 20 year old office chair. The original mechanism failed due to a split rubber grommet which caused the chair to wobble sideways. The distance between the holes was as advertised and it turned out to be a perfect fit. It took a couple of hard blows with a heavy hammer to dislodge the gas cylinder. The original mechanism of this chair, which was made in Lynwood, CA, was made of 4mm thick steel. The Chinese replacement is made of 3mm steel. I'm not very heavy, therefore I expect it to last for a while. Now, my large leather chair will have a second life. Overall, this looks like a good product.

I purchased the 500lbs version of this tilt mechanism for my chair when the original broke when I wasn't paying attention and leaning too far back in it. SNAP! This one is way better quality than the original that came with my chair. It feels like it was built for a tank. My old one was flimsy piece of junk. This may be a bit overkill, but at least I know it is good quality and will last forever. I'm impressed with the hefty weight and construction of it. They didn't cheap out here on this product. Completely worth it. There's no way this thing is going break. Pay the extra, and get the 500 lb version. Chances are, you will never have to worry about replacing it again, unless there is a Richter scale level 10 earthquake or a dinosaur-sized 120 mile diameter meteor falls on your house. I felt like a weight lifter putting this on my chair, as it's pretty heavy. The weight is good thing, though. It's solid. I'm glad I bought this!

It held up for about 9 to 10 months before it began showing signs of failure by 11 months it has become bad enough I'm going to have to replace it before it fails. I'm only 190lbs at most, well under the weight limit, so this is said just signs of poor quality construction.

I bought this to replace the broken one on my DXRacer Gaming Chair. It fit perfectly, very sturdy and works very well. Easy to install, great value. Much better option than buying a whole new chair!

This seems to be of very high quality, very hefty far better than the org Walmart one that came with the chair and broke(started leaning) with less than a month of use however they ARE NOT the size they claim nor was it a error in that they sent me the wrong one these are NOT 5.9'' x 8.6" they are 5.9'' x 9" so unless you can drill your own holes or need that size dont order That said my star ratings are based on the fact I had to drill new holes and it took me trying different things before it would work, its harder than it sounds to drill new holes the wood is so easy to disaggregate in my chair I had to use epoxy to create homemade rivets like the org bolts go into so the false advertising and the fact I had to drill new holes make me personally rate it low however it should be noted assuming it will fit your chair its a VERY high quality product I just wish they didnt claim it was 8.6in when its really 9in
