it seems CLA has a lot of mixed reviews. for some people it works and for some people it does not. there is a reason for this, and that is CLA is not being used properly by the people it is not working for. although it has benefits of all omega-6 fatty acids such as lowering risks for cancer and lowering cholesterol, but since a majority of people use this as a diet supplement, i will tell you about the benefits on body composition. CLA DOES NOT HELP YOU BURN FAT! it slightly increases your metabolic rate, but by no means will it help you lose a significant amount of fat. the people that see weight loss are giving credit to CLA when they should be giving credit to their caloric deficit. there have been many studies showing that CLA does not make a significant reduction on body fat unless in a calorie deficit(which means eating calories below your BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate) there is no pill that can burn fat. now that being said, it is not completely useless on body composition. what it does is restrict fat cells from growing too big. in all these studies, the placebo group, when going back to their normal diets, put on a ratio of 50-50 fat to muscle ratio when the group given actual CLA put on a 25-75 fat to muscle ratio. this all being said it is good for not putting on too much fat when bulking. so even though it is marketed for women (which is complete BS because they don't normally bulk) it works better for bulkers (im generalizing here). take this for a week before you start bulking. i did and im seeing the effects. my abs and veins didn't completely disappear like it normally does and i feel like im putting on a lot more muscle than fat. all you need is to start taking it a week before you bulk. take only 3 pills through the day with ur meals. try and eat foods that are high in CLA too. (chicken, milk, cheese, pork)

MRM CLA vs Spring Valley (Walmart) CLA MRM comes in a large bottle of 180 clear softgels... You take 2 3x a day. Has a distinctive smell. Gives burps often, especially if taken at the end of a meal. Same pill size as SV & potency mg. SV comes in 50 dark coated softgels... that you take 2 2x a day. No smell. No burps. Same pill size as MRM & potency mg. So far the differences are in appearance & smell. SV in a dark pill w no smell, MRM in a clear pill & distinctive smell. Also, I notice MRM says "derived from safflower SEED oil" & SV just says from safflower oil. Would have to research to see if any difference. I cannot tell whether to benefit my weightloss from the MRM CLA pills or my new lower calorie/active lifestyle. As for the burps, I just make sure to take at the very beginning of my meal & they rarely come. I plan to finish the bottle & put up with the burps BC in the past I have purchased super high quality DHA pills from garden of life & they gave me the burps as well. Also, I add 1 TBSP of coconut oil to my breakfast & lunch shakes since it's an MCT (medium chain triglyceride) & has been proven to break down healthy fats in the liver & lead to efficient burning of energy. One 2009 study found that women who consumed about 2 tablespoons of coconut oil daily for 12 weeks not only did not gain more weight, but actually had lowered amounts of abdominal fat.

Okay, so it MAYYY be placebo effect since Im known to be a sucker for health products, but I swear I took one and felt more alert and clear minded. However, one less star for the size of these things. When people are saying they ARENT horsepills or not as bad as the reviews say, they are LYING. i am a professional vitamin taker, i take like 20 a day, and i have seen nothing like the size of these things. Luckily, they aere gel, and if u arent super sensitive to tastes, you can just bite it and extract the liquid. Its not that bad, if i had to give u what it tastes like, it tastes exactly like if you gave safflower a taste lol. Some type of plant flavor, almost like it would taste if you ate some part of a sunflower lol. thats what it rerminded me of anyways. totally palatable. i will update this after three weeks to let u know if ive lost any weight, but im on day three and i do not think the alert feeling is placebo effect. i think these do have somewhat of an instant more alert, clear minded effect, witihout feeling like a diet pill, obviously. if u are teetering on whether to get these or not, id go with a yes. at the very least you feela little more focused and clear minded without prescription drugs, and at the very most you lose some weight too! im hoping for both and will definitely update in a few weeks!

I started working out end of January 2012, on average I do 3 hrs/wk of weight training and cardio. I also switched from a diet high in carbs (rice and pasta) to a low carb diet (veggie substitutes like cauliflower and spaghetti squash). I started taking MRM CLA first week of March 2012 (2 capsules after breakfast and 2 after lunch). My weigh in for the first week of June 2012 (2 months on CLA) was exactly the same as on January 2012 so no weight loss. However my before and after photos definitely show significant reduction in my waist. Significant is that I used to have 2 permanent fat creases across my stomach and one went away completely. Also my pants fit better and I have received some complements but unfortunately I didn't measure. So bottom line, no weight loss, visible waist size reduction, and I definitely experienced the acne side effect, mostly more zits on my nose and forehead. I would recommend this product and I've just purchased my 3rd bottle. The trade off for me is worth it because I don't care if the scale doesn't move, I can see the results and I don't have an acne problem except for the one or two zits a week that pop up from taking this. ** I bought 200mg Raspberry Ketones that I started taking 1 capsule a day on June 15, 2012. I have not changed my exercise or diet. I weighed in June 26, 2012 9 lbs. lighter, very unexpected. I will update this review in a month but I really believe that the two supplements complement each other well. **
