  • Great mount for the money
I do like this flashlight mount a lot. I bought both the Monstrum mount and the ALONEFIRE mount. They both were low priced and good quality. My favorite would have to be the ALONEFIRE because I thought the quick detach was better than the screw of the Monstrum. I recommend both.

  • Save you money, it will not fit most Picatinney rails
It simple will not fit securely on 4 different rails I tried. These are all rails on highly respected name brands that came as factory equipment and this light mount will not fit tight on any of them. Unfortunately, I've found Monstrom to be ill fitting for some of their other products as well so I guess their quality control just isn't up to par. A warranty is no good if you just push off quality control onto the consumer. It takes literally seconds to check for secure mounting and since these are made on machines, one bax example means others are also bad. While the mount does hold the light itself securely, no matter how well the mount is tightened to the rail, it is loose. I checked and double check the installation and all the scope using other mounts installed securely. It's just a cheaply designed and manufactured item for sure but it's also a simple mount so at the very least it should install on a rail securely. In looking at how the tightening bracket works it's easy to see the design flaw, it operates as a wedge and since the angles aren't proper there is no way this will mount securely. While about $9 isn't expensive, for that money there are others that do work so it's probably a $1 part just pushed out the door and most people will just keep it and shim it or something. It's going back. Monstrom needs to up their game. ... show more

  • This is the one to get...
There are several similar mounts of this style on the market. They look almost identical, so you'd think they are all the same, but they are not. Most of the mounts have a design with a poorly designed clamping mechanism, the part that holds it to the rail. This one has a more substantive clamp that has much better engagement. I had an NcStar mount on two of my rifles before; they look and are sized almost identical to this Monstrum mount. One of the NcStar mounts worked great and I have no complaints about it. The other mount, same NcStar model, wasn't to spec and the rail clamp engagement was really poor and to the point where I could literally pull the mount off the rail very easily with my hand, no matter how tight the clamp screw was. This Monstrum mount has a much better clamp design for the rail that has far better engagement (you can see and compare via the product images). This design could tolerate being fairly far out of spec before failing, relatively speaking; it can't give way unless the product were purely defective. I'm happy with the Monstrum mount I received, so I'm going to order another. I likely just had a bum NcStar unit and I could have just exchanged it and been fine, but the design of this mount is the right design, so it's what I want in service. Note that the NcStar mount may be a few grams lighter. The NcStar has a slightly better designed finger screw in my opinion (it's round and knurled, vs the Monstrum's smooth hex knob), but small difference. I didn't measure it, but the bodies are effectively identical, and the Monstrum has a little more material in both the flashlight clamp, and the rail clamp. Small difference, but if you care about those few grams, it's something to pay attention to. ... show more
