  • Stylish and quiet with a cool breeze and bright light Stylish and quiet with a cool breeze and bright light
Color: Brushed Nickel Size: 52-Inch
This ceiling fan is stylish and looks great in our family room. It is very easy to install and took less than an hour with one person (if I didn't have to troubleshoot the RF receiver installation it would have been much quicker). I installed the short rod because it is located in front of a TV and the bottom of the light easily clears the view at 11.5 inches from the ceiling. I did not put on the motor cover so I could have access to the reversal switch and it doesn't look that bad after removing the unsightly stickers - you might notice it right away because your attention is drawn to it right after installation but I don't give it much thought any more. The fan is so quiet you can barely tell it's on when on low or medium and with high the only sound is the air movement. The light is very bright and although it would be nice if it dimmed down a little more, I didn't get it as a nightlight so it's not a big deal for me. It would be nice if you could change the light bulbs because everyone has different preferences for light but I like the bright LED. Some tips on installation: 1. Put the whole fan together first 2. The RF receiver fits in the hanging bracket with a tight fit and will be difficult to maneuver if you attach the wires before putting it in place. I recommend putting the RF receiver in the bracket first, then put the fan in the bracket, and then attach all of the wires. 3. I installed the switch (sold separately) and the remote and I'm glad I did. I hung the remote on the opposite side of the room so it allows us to control it from both sides. ... show more

  • Quiet, fast, bright, all around awesome fan
Color: Brushed Nickel Size: 52-Inch
This has been installed for about a week now and it is great. This is one of the quietest fans in the house, I hope it does not get noisy like my other Hunter fans have over the years. The LED light is dim-able on this and on the bright setting it is very bright. The fan is very low profile with nothing hanging too low to hit my head on in the bedroom. The fan is fast and moves a lot of air which is very nice in the Texas summers. Some people have mentioned that you cannot use the top housing for the fan with the short carrier post, but that is not true, the top housing fit just fine. This fan looks great as runs awesome. The install was very easy and the remote functions are sweet. ... show more

  • You don't need to use the remote You don't need to use the remote
Color: Brushed Nickel Size: 52-Inch
Someone was kind enough to answer a question that I posted for this fan, saying that they were able to wire this to use the existing wall controls. I have the dimmer that you use to adjust the fan speed on the wall already and just wanted to use that. I can confirm that it was easy to wire this fan to utilize the existing controls...I just took a picture of the wiring before I disconnected it and it was fine. Adding the wiring pic for those who can't read a wiring diagram. The fan itself looks REALLY NICE. I had a builder grade master bedroom ceiling fan, with the 4 lights that have separate glass fixtures, and this is a great update. The light is bright! It's perfect for my master bedroom...but I can see it being a bit bright for a smaller bedroom. I am debating on whether to add a dimmer for the light on the wall switch...I don't really need it though. I was impressed with the design for assembly. You screw the fan blades into a central hub, and screw THAT into the ceiling fan. It makes a difference being up on a ladder screwing in 5 screws instead of 15. I was also very surprised that I didn't need to balance the fan at all...it seems perfectly balanced out of the box. All in all, I'm extremely happy so far, and I plan to install this same fan in my living room. ... show more

  • Looks Nice, But Lacks Looks Nice, But Lacks
Color: Oil Rubbed Bronze Size: 60-Inch
This fan looks very nice, and seems pretty well built. However, there are a few things that really need attention. - Installation was a pain. My ceiling fan box is not flush with the drywall, which made placing the blue control box almost impossible. It's also not very clear how the control box is supposed to be positioned. - It seems like someone spent 10 minutes programming this fan and said "I guess it's good enough" when they finished. - When turning on the fan, the blades move a little bit, stop, then start ramping up to the desired speed. I'm guessing this is to detect the direction the blades are spinning, but this is pointless with no "summer" or "winter" mode selection or indication, just one button that changes the rotation. - My biggest issue is with the brightness control. There are two buttons on the remote to control the light. Press either and they toggle the light and hold the button to change the brightness which is fine, but both light buttons only change the brightness in one direction. I would think that if you hold down the bottom button to dim the lights and hold the top button to brighten them. But if the last 'direction' of brightness was up ( brighter) and I hold down the bottom button, bit continues getting brighter until it gets to the brightest setting, then starts lowering. - Can't figure out if it supports fan dimmer switches of any kind. Positives: - Looks very nice. - Has wifi and connects to the bond app which seems to work pretty well, and integrates with Home Assistant which is a big plus. - Light is very bright, and lights up the whole room well. - Fan is very quiet and moves a good amount of air. ... show more

  • Extremely poor quality Extremely poor quality
Color: Coal Size: 52-Inch
Purchased this somewhat expensive ceiling fan thinking the quality would be better but boy was I wrong. I liked the style of this but I could have had a "Hunter" brand fan for the same amount or less. First step of installation was to screw the fan blades to the blade holders. Each fan has 3 screws. The first screw I attempted to screw in went in with a bit more resistance than I expected and stopped going in with about 2 turns left before the screw seated on the fan blade. Turns out it was cross threaded yet it went in with very little resistance. Crap. I will need to be more careful on the next screw but it started cross threading right away. I figured that I got the wrong screws but then the third one went in just fine. The cast metal on the fan blade holders is made of a metal with the strength of chewing gum. It took me 30 minutes to screw in 15 screws because I was terrified that I was cross threading them all. But I finally got them in and went to step 2. This was attaching the fan blade holders to the flywheel. But for some reason I could not get the screws to bite. Turns out ALL of the fan holder posts do not line up with the flywheel holes. They are all off by a fraction of an inch and when I got one screw in it would pull the blade holders so far out of alignment with the other holes I could not get even one holder to accept two screws. There is no "fix" for this. The manufacturing tolerances are just garbage on this product. I spent two hours taking the old fan down and buying the longer down rod that I needed and now that I have opened the downrod from it's packaging I probably wont be able to return it. Oh yeah, and I also purchased the wall controller for this fan but printed on a warning lable on the ceiling mount it says "WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock this fan should only be used with fan speed control part NOSW-1167RYS-02 manufacturd by Summer Wind International, LTD. The wall controller that was sold along side with this fan does not have that number on it anywhere and it does not say it was manufactured by Summer Wind. So that was a big concern as well. And just so you know, I am an electrician and have installed dozens ceiling fans in my home and in relatives homes. I am sorry, do I seem angry? ... show more

  • Nice fan, looks good, runs quiet, slightly flawed design
Color: Brushed Nickel Size: 52-Inch
These fans look great and move a lot of air quietly. After a lot of searching around this was one of very few fans with this modern look that ALSO was dimable via remote. I did find other similar products but for some reason those were still using expensive & inefficient halogen bulbs :( ? The fans do have a couple of design issues. The LED bulb is proprietary so replacements will be a hassle and will be expensive orders from the manufacturer. Luckily LEDs should outlast the fan itself (20-30 yrs) but a faulty bulb that doesn't die of natural causes will be a headache to replace. I know how to solder, but the bulb unit is totally sealed up so self repairs seem unlikely. The other design issue is absolutely infuriating.... ARE YOU LISTENING MINKA AIRE !!!! The LED is remote dimable and my this was my main reason for buying this fan. The remote has TWO buttons for controlling the lamp. A sane person would think that one button would increase brightness while the other button would decrease brightness. Not in Minka Aires' world ! Both buttons do exactly the same thing. Hold it down and the lamp cycles through full brightness and back down to least bright. You have to stop when you reach your desired brightness. If you miss it then you have to go through the whole cycle again and hope you get it next time. I checked the instructions and, yes, this is how they designed it to function. There's TWO buttons on the remote and I'd like to suggest these could be used individually, one for up? and the other for down?. Sounds crazy I know, but then I graduated high school unlike the designer at Minka Aire. I have no idea why they turned the dimmer function into a game of skill !! Spoils an otherwise great design !! Some others have mentioned that you can "get a bad unit" and I did experience this. I bought two and one had to be exchanged. It had two faults. This wasn't a big issue to me but I describe it here in case my trouble shooting steps are useful to others. The first fault was a slight ticking with every full revolution of the fan. I supposed that this was something catching inside, since electric motors have brushes that are supposed to rub against the rotor, I let it run-in for 24hrs. The noise DID disappear and was probably just a carbon brush bedding itself in properly. I suggest people try this if they have a similar issue. The second fault, for the same unit, was that the remote receiver unit was finicky. The fan would always respond but the light wouldn't always. Here's what I tried before sending it back. Tested with the other remote from 2nd fan --> both remotes were fine. Repeated the sync procedure to "pair" the remote --> would respond well but then start acting up again within 20-30 mins. Finally I tried 2-3 different pairing frequencies, which you can set inside the remote --> no difference. The replacement unit was perfectly fine, just like the other one received in the first delivery. ... show more

  • Easy to install and QUIET!!!!
Color: Brushed Nickel Size: 52-Inch
I installed three of these fans about 2 months ago. VERY quiet and easy/quick to install. Stylish and a great value for the money. NOTE: these fans work off a remote BUT you can wire directly and work the fan/light off separate wall switches (if you have separate switch legs from the wall box to the ceiling box) instead. Just do not wire the transmitter unit into the junction box. ie leave it out entirely. ... show more
