My regular "daily use" vacuum is a Miele "Swing" H1 corded stick vacuum. Though it's since been discontinued, it feels in many ways like an older, corded version of this. And, I love it. I like it so much in fact that my mom "adopted" my first one, and I replaced it with another. The my brother "adopted" that one, and I replaced it with a third. While the current corded one was doing fine, I had my eye out for a cordless one, just so it'd be a little less cumbersome moving around the house, around and under furniture, and so on. First, the Miele units are *very* well constructed. They're *not* creaky or rattly plastic, and you don't feel air (or dust) leaks all over when they're running. The noise, likewise, sounds like well engineered machinery, not "parts in plastic" snapped together. This one can be used a number of ways. For instance, as a convential, tall stick vac, with a wide head for cleaning the floor. Or, you can keep it "long", but remove the wide floor head, and replace it with any of several included crevice tools (for instance for cleaning stuff overhead like lights or blind valances). You can also attach either the wide floor nozzle, or the crevice tools, directly to the power unit, which is nice when working in more compace spaces (say inside the car. The floor head also can lay very flat, which makes sliding under low furniture a possibility. The brush roll is powered (meaning, by a motor, not just air driven), and the vacuum as two power settings, regular and "high". Just turning it on starts in regular, and tapping another switch puts it into "high" mode. The powered brush also has overload protection, so it'll automatically and safely stop if it gets tangled, for instance, on rug tassles. The cannister empties readily, and the two fileters and pretty easy to pop out and clean as well. It comes with a wall charging bracket (one small downside is the vacuum, in the bracket, sticks out maybe 10 inches from the wall. Or, you can skip the bracket, and plug the charger directly in the unit. Overall, I'm a big fan. It's been picking up dog hair and beach sand like there's no tomorrow, and the crevice tools have been good for window tracks as well. The price isn't cheap - to be sure - but every Miele I've purchased in the past has been solid, well constructed, and held up perfectly, so I suspect this one will last as long as you'd want it to. And the company has been around forever, so I imagine parts like filters should be available well into the future as well. ... show more

    • Long Battery Life, Lots of Suction

With 4 kids, 2 dogs, and a bird that flings food and feathers everywhere, there is a lot of vacuuming happening. I have some vacuum experience. My basement vacuum is my old Kirby - but it's way too heavy to get up and down the stairs for as often as I need it. Still works great, but changing out the bag is a pain. I also have a 19 year old Dyson Animal - still works. Has needed some work - replacing filters, belts, and mostly CLEANING it...the smell of pets seems to absorb into it, and a kid moving out needs one, so it's leaving the house to go to a no-pet zone. Both of my current vacuums are corded and I wanted a fast, easier way of daily cleaning the floors. Thing I love - worked right out of the box, came with enough of a charge for me to try it. I didn't love - no real manual per se. A 'Quick Start' guide that really told me nothing. Thing I love - GREAT job cleaning the carpet. I could tell it was doing what I needed it to do, and it was easy enough to use. Not sure I understand why the turbo button is there - who ISN'T going to use it? Not sure I could tell you what it's for or if it uses extra battery - cuz again. No book or reference to tell me. I'm GenX. I have zero interest in going to watch a video about it or having to look up the book every time I need information. I have a drawer full of manuals that I actually look at if I have a question. What I don't love, is that it requires a lot more 'pushing' for lack of a better term. My shoulder wasn't sure what that was about, and I ended up using a second hand to steady it towards the end of doing the entire floor. It's not heavy out of the box, but it's not as balanced as I would have thought, so when I'm using, my upper arm can tell - the weight is all up top and it's not light. What I already see if that the battery life outlasts the canister capacity. Had to empty it halfway through the room. (Again, lots of hair, dust, etc). It's not a large canister, and again - no reference...took me a minute to figure out I had to take the bottom tube off to empty it neatly. Couldn't leave it assembled to empty so in the middle of vacuuming, I had to stop, take the top off, go empty the canister, reassemble, and then finish vacuuming. That's probably the biggest concern - so it depends on your usage plans. I'm used to the Dyson with its large capacity - emptied every use, but definitely not in the middle. All together - it's on the wall, and will be my vacuum of choice for sure. Time will tell if it lasts the 25 years my $1299 Kirby from 1999 has or the 19 years my $600 Dyson has. I don't mind minor maintenance for an expensive appliance, but will update if it becomes obvious it can't compete. ... show more

Honestly, before getting this vacuum, I really never heard of Meile before, but know that it is a very reputable long-standing brand now that I did my research. I decided to give it a shot, and it certainly did not disappoint. It does an excellent job picking up debris and pet hair And is easy to empty the canister when full. This was originally purchased as a secondary vacuum for my upstairs since I already own a Dyson, but honestly, I’m beginning to like this vacuum much better. It even comes with a little mini brush to help empty the canister, which has always been an annoyance with the Dyson. My only gripe, and it’s a minor one, is that the charging dock does not have space for the hand tools. It is otherwise a near Perfect stick vac. ... show more

    • This multi-floor product does not work on carpet

Inaccurate advertising. Multi-floor use is advertised but does not include rugs and carpet. Also there is a $100 restocking fee… Meile normally has such nice products. We bought for my 80 year old mother in law… very very disappointed. Why is there a rotating brush if it’s not for carpet?
