  • Exceeded expectations - an excellent investment!
Color: In Obsidian Black Style: Kona
I am a huge fan of Miele products and the C3 Kona vacuum cleaner is no exception. This is a high-end, powerful vacuum that is built to last. The suction power is impressive and it does a great job of picking up dirt and debris from all surfaces, including carpets and hardwood floors. The adjustable settings make it easy to switch between cleaning tasks and the attachments are well-designed and easy to use. For those of you debating between the models offered in the C3 line - Marin vs Calima vs Cat & Dog vs Kona - I chose Kona as I mainly use clean hardwood floors, have a small dog (different shedding than a larger long-haired dog), and care primarily about the HEPA filter function. Some features to highlight: - HEPA Filter: My favorite feature of the C3 Kona is its HEPA filter, which does an excellent job of trapping allergens and other microscopic particles. You can immediately tell when you’re using it that the hot air coming out of the vacuum is clean filtered air. It doesn’t have that “vacuum exhaust” smell that conventional vacuums have while cleaning. This is a great feature for anyone with family members who have allergies or asthma. I used to vacuum only when my household allergy sufferers were out of the house; now I can vacuum anytime, even when they’re in the house. It also has a unique AirClean sealed system that captures over 99.9% of all lung-damaging particles. Great news for all of us who have spent more time at home in the past few years and care about indoor air quality. - Suction Power: Thanks to the powerful 1200-watt Vortex Motor, there’s a visible difference between my previous vacuums (Dyson V8 Handheld, Dyson Animal ball, Shark upright) in picking up dust. The vacuum head gently slides over the floor and swiftly captures all particles big or small in one swipe. No more going over the same spot. It’s amazing. It also has a 6-stage variable speed control, which allows you to adjust the suction power to suit the task at hand. - Low Sound: Another huge plus is the quieter sound level. My baby napping in the next door room doesn’t awaken to my vacuuming. - Built-in Storage: This was a big question for us prior to purchase. Do we pay the extra $$ for a built-in storage for heads? Is it really worth it? The answer is yes. Such a game-changer to quickly change between your vacuum heads as you’re cleaning around the house. Fewer skipped over areas (think ledges that need the thin nozzle, or sofas that need the upholstery attachment) and no lost parts. - Maneuverability: The body is lightweight and moves around so smoothly on all types of surfaces including hardwood, tiled flooring, rugs, etc. There’s a bumper on the exterior that prevents from denting your furniture if you do bump into them. The telescopic wand is the best I’ve seen among other highest-end vacuum brands. I am no longer straining after 30 minutes of cleaning. - Maintenance: Super easy maintenance with simple, straightforward instructions for cleaning and replacing filters. After discovering how hygienic Miele’s dust bags are, I can’t go back to other “bag-less” vacuums. Those are nice for the first two uses and then you realize you constantly have a vacuum that’s spilling dust back into your house every time you move it. Overall, I highly recommend the Miele C3 Kona vacuum cleaner to anyone in the market for a high-quality, powerful and durable vacuum. It is a bit on the pricey side, but it is well worth the investment in my opinion. ... show more

  • Update: the issue was my CFGI outlet
Color: In Obsidian Black Style: Kona
UPDATE: Our CFGI outlet was half-broken. My husband replaced it an I'm no longer having issues with it randomly turning off. I've had a Miele Carina since 2007 or 2008. I love it, but I kept doing stupid things with it and eventually the retractable cord no longer retracted, and it just wasn't a great fit for our floors in our new house. After a lot of debate, I decided to get the Kona. (I needed a vacuum that could handle high pile carpets, cars, stairs and the Dyson Ball Animal 2 was definitely not cutting it except on builder grade carpets. I only use that vacuum upstairs now. It's terrible on high pile carpets, cars, and stairs and very loud, especially on tile. I do like how it's bagless, however.) My biggest complaint with the Kona is that it keeps resetting my CFGI circuits. I have to keep turning it off and back on, and resetting the outlet. Sometimes it turns itself off. Also, the price fluctuates by like $200 on Amazon for the same listing. Not cool. Otherwise, I love that I can use my old Carina's carpet/hard floors attachment, and that it works on all of my floor types, which is asking a lot. Sometimes the suction is a little much for my small rugs, and I don't like that I have to keep juggling the different attachments to get all of my floor types, but it really is a vacuum that can do it all. The bare floor attachment is awesome, but it really only works on bare floors. The Carina attachment is only mediocre on some floor types, but you can really make it work on anything if you have a will too. I only used that one attachment for years on all my carpets, tile, linoleum, my deck, cars, etc.!! I thought the Kona's cord would be longer, but it's barely noticeably bigger than my Carina's. Also, the gray tube thing is more stiff b/c it has an electrical cord running through it. You have to be careful not to vacuum up anything wet, b/c of the electrical cord. I love that the attachments store inside the vacuum and don't keep falling off like the Carina's, and that it can stand up instead of flopping over like my old vacuum. Overall, definitely an upgrade - just has some minor annoyances. I'd definitely buy it again though! I just hope it lasts as long as my Carina did. The more complicated features they have, the more likely they are to break, just like anything. ... show more
