  • Trucker loves it
Color: Red
We are truck drivers. This is a great way to cook in the truck. Works great in a small microwave. Easy to wipe clean. Been using it for a few months and love it. Cook thin streaks, Brugers, then eggs. Ever trucker need one. Side not, we storage it in the microwave when not using it.

  • Meat Cooking Has Entered the Space Age (as promised)
Color: Red
I grew up with the birth of the microwave oven. It was novel and amazing and the dream was you would never use a conventional oven again. I cooked hamburgers, tv dinners, just about everything in the microwave. Restaurants began to use them regularly. But, after a short while, it became obvious that the food...was terrible. Soggy breads, dry meats, nuclear-hot-burnt-to-a-crisp. I remember the day going to restaurants I would ask if a certain item was microwaved cooked, and if the waiter said yes, I would order something else. But I got to thinking that there is that silver-foil that comes in some tv dinners and you use in the microwave. And I wondered if there was something similar. Enter this pan. I've had it for some months now and I cook every kind of meat in it to fabulous success. I just had jumbo shrimp this morning and I'm cooking spareribs right now. I've so gotten my money's worth from this pan. I spend $8 on meat for 2 meals. Some pointers for new users: the pan works like a real oven. Most times in microwave cooking, you set to high and blast away. My microwave defaults to it and you have to go out of your way to set it to not high. But some food will dry faster cooking on high. There will be a point you cook turkey, pork, chicken, fish and it will be sitting in a pile of boiling water in this pan. But if you keep it on high, that water will steam out and your food will go dry. Learn the power of cooking on medium. I have my 1/2 pound of porkribs on medium for 10 mins. They will be juicy and moist and well-cooked. Yes, you lose some of the microwave's hallmark speed, but you can't have everything. It WILL sear the bottom, but cooking on lower temps will do it less because there will be a lot of moisture inside. The pan stays hot for hours. I'm serious. Hours. CLEAN IT RIGHT AWAY. Because it stays hot for so long, and there WILL be meat residue inside, it will bake onto that pan with a vengeance. If you pour it out and clean it immediately, it takes 30 seconds. No joke. It's no stick, but not if you let it sit. I believe the pan works best with relatively low fat foods. I mean, I got pork ribs and it's doing okay, but I cooked some 15% fat hamburger and it turns into a volcano because that fat burns off and is on the insanely hot plate. I've cooked a lot of hamburgers and usually get the super lean. I'd say get two, but there's no reason to get two. It cleans so fast and is (so far) extremely durable. My ribs are done, so I'll leave it at that. ... show more

  • This is not a grill - Its a frying pan for your microwave
Color: Red
I purchased this pan in the hope that I could use it to reheat and cook some items better in the microwave as opposed to normal microwave heating or turning on the conventional oven. Summer is coming and I hate to turn on the oven in hot summer weather. So I was really hoping this pan would function as more of a conventional oven in the microwave, but it doesn't. What it does is function exactly like an overheated frying pan in the microwave. The cooking surface gets really hot really fast and you can't control the temperature. You also can't see the food while its cooking since its under the cover and in the microwave. Because the cooking surface gets so hot and you can't see the food, food burns easily - far too easily - and it will burn the bottom of the food in contact with it much faster than it reheats or cooks that food. A difference of 30 seconds or a minute could be the difference between very burnt but uncooked food and still uncooked-but-not-yet-burnt food. Without any control over the temperature, the pan has limited usefulness for me. And there are other issues. Let me explain. Last night I decided to try to make a hamburger in the pan. You can't get simpler than that, right? I put a very tiny amount of coconut oil in the center of the pan - less than half a teaspoon. I put the raw hamburger in, put the cover on and popped it into my 1100-watt microwave. I put three minutes on the clock. Went to turn the burger over and the pan is filled with smoke already - and now so is my kitchen. Additionally, the grease from the burger was splattering all over the place when I had the cover opened to turn the burger - exactly as if I was frying the burger in pan. Furthermore, I can see that some grease is getting in behind the seal that surrounds the pan's cooking surface. This is a big problem, since you can't immerse the pan in water, you can't put it in the dishwasher and you can't remove the seal, so its literally impossible to remove what grease gets in there. By the end of cooking the burger, the kitchen had its share of smoke and stinks of burnt fat. There is grease all over my stove just from the time of checking/turning the burger. And while the burger cooked okay, it would have come out much better under the broiler in my oven, or in a conventional frying pan for that matter. So I won't be making burgers in this pan again. After that experience, and some others, I just don't see anything this pan can do well for me. I may experiment with it a little more, but knowing that it functions exactly like an uncontrollable, super hot frying pan, I just don't see much use for it. If I need to fry something, I'll fry it in a conventional pan where I can control the heat and see the food as it cooks. That food will come out much better than it will in in this pan. Just because this pan has slightly raised ridges, doesn't make it it a grill. It's a frying pan for the microwave. Who needs that? ... show more

  • Great product but with a limited life span
Color: Red
This is a great product. I have had 3 or 4 of them now, and that is the only reason for 4 instead of 5 starts. I use it daily to cook steaks, hamburgers, Chicken, chops, and fish. Does a great job and cleans up easily. I highly recommend it. That said, with daily use it is only good for a bit more than a year. As someone else mentioned, I have had the nut break that holds the handle. At about a year the inside of the lid's surface starts to bubble and eventually flake. Their customer service will replace the lid if you remember to contact them in the first year (I just forgot to check the calendar this last time). Now at about 18 months I have had the seal around the inside of the pan lip burn. This happened cooking a hamburger with cheese and it is possible the meat touched the edge. I'll be careful to notice if it happens with the next pan, as this is the only time this has happened. Be sure to use a no stick spray (I use Pam -- Olive Oil) as you will otherwise end up with residue that can only be scrubbed with a scrubby which will damage the pan surface. Using the spray I just cover the surface with water till it cools off and then I clean up with a paper towel. YES, I am ordering my 5th pan today because I haven't found anything like it that really works. I'm just going to set a reminder to check it closely as the 1 year warranty approaches. ... show more
