my first meyer pan (wok style) was purchased in mid-90s.......and still use it today! so, i saw this and picked one up. first, it has that same quality build - it doesn't feel "flimsy" or poorly made. it has a quality look/feel. second, it's good for making about anything - you can fry/stirfry in it. you can boil in it - make stews/soups. so far i've done it all and this pan works very well. then after cooking, it's effortless to clean. also, i love the extra handle on the opposite side of the main handle - makes picking it up full pans of food much easier. i have no complaints with this -it's great! ... show more

This is an excellent 4.5 quart saute pan, but I would really have wanted a lid to go with it (not sold separately). I ordered the stainless steel version as I don't particularly care for non-stick. I was really looking for a large skillet, but I ran across this pan through the Vine program and it seemed to be of high quality and very versatile. I was a bit hesitant at first because of the matte black finish that I thought might turn out to be high-maintenance. But it is actually quite durable and it certainly looks great. The only real downside of this pan for me was having to purchase the lid separately (there are three sizes of these more or less universal lids, and the large one will fit this pan as well as a stockpot that I also purchased). I guess I am in the minority, but I like having a dedicated lid for each of my pots and pans (they live in the rack of my giant turkey roaster that only gets used once or twice a year). This saute pan is a great size and the sides are quite deep, so it holds a lot -- almost as much as one of my 5 quart dutch ovens. It is heavy and the base and sides are thick and durable. The stainless steel interior looks gorgeous. I ordered the lid, and waited patiently for it to show up before trying it out for review, but it has been a few weeks and still has not arrived. I'm not too happy about this as this pan is pretty much useless to me without a lid. None of my existing lids (and I have a lot of them) fit perfectly. I finally went ahead and used it several times with a loose-fitting lid just to try it out so I would have something to report. It is versatile enough to use for almost anything, and I have found that it works great for pasta sauce, preparing one-skillet meals and veggie side dishes. I like that it can go in the oven, too (up to 445 degrees F). This will be used frequently. The silicone handles are nice and cushiony but I'm not sure how well they will stand up to heavy-duty use on an almost daily basis. The matte black finish is holding up flawlessly so far. I hand wash all of my pots and pans and this everyday pan still looks brand new. The current price of $79.15 seems a bit too high when I consider that the separate matching large lid (which is also intended to fit other pieces in this collection) increases the cost by another $23.04. ... show more

This is a fantastic starter set. I did a ton of research on the pots and pans I wanted and landed on this one because it is dishwasher safe, can go in the oven (up to a certain amount) and is induction compatible. I keep heat on the lowest setting on my stove and these pots and pans still heat up pretty quickly. Handles and lid handle don't overheat, even when I stuck the entire pan in the oven, which is great. If the set came with a 8'' pan, it would be perfect. Definitely wait for the price to drop before purchasing. I purchased mine around $134 ... show more
