I am very happy with my new VMHi500 space heater!. I'm so happy with it, I bought two more for Christmas gifts. PROS: DESIGN: The all metal, soft edge look is so much nicer than most heater designs from Vornado. I think they realized the it's a permanent fixture in some rooms, and upped their design game. USABILITY: I did not need to read the manual. Power on, push +/- to create a set temp, and choose High/1500W or Low/750W. You can then set a 1-12 hour run time and go safely to sleep. SAFETY: This is my first tip-shutoff heater with a run timer, and I love those features. No more OCD wakeups in the middle of the night. The thermostat will also shut it off. Moreover, the chasse is absolutely cool. The only hot surface is the grill disc, which could only pose a problem for toddlers. Otherwise, it's nearly idiot proof for burns. PERFORMANCE: I was surprised how much better this was than my much smaller heater with the same wattage. I assume that the Vornado air mix flow distributes heat better.. Also, the heating coils produce NO OZONE, which my smaller, tight coiled heaters do. It's just small enough, and quiet enough, to quickly heat a couch area with warm air directly on you. However, it also seems to do a great job at mixing that heat with the air in the room, hence it's full room description. NOISE: I do not agree with many reviews here. On low, the fan is very quiet and even slows more as it approaches the temperature set point. I thought it was broken when the fan got that slow, but it's by design. However, on high, it's about as loud as a quality bathroom fan. Better than most, but not absolutely quiet. Still, quiet enough to have next to you when you watch TV. CONS: My only complaint, it should have a black option, though white works pretty well. It takes up about a cubic foot, but it still works under my coffee table and on the line of compact. QUIRKS: SHUTOFF: The unit will go to fan only mode to cool before shutoff. It displays a 10 second countdown. FAN SPEED: On both High/Low, the fan will moderate depending on how close you are to the set point. SLOW FAN NOISE: There's a slight rpm pulse sound when it goes to super low. BOTTOMLINE: I've never spent this much on a space heater, but if I get 10 years, then every penny was worth it.

So far so good with this heater. I purchased this after getting three defective heaters from a different brand. So, I'm happy that I'm staying warm now! I have this in a large den and it keeps it cozy. It runs really quiet. It seems solidly made and the outside does not get hot. I get nervous about things but this heater seems well made and safe, so I feel comfortable using it.

I have 4 space heaters in my apartment and everyone of them are loud. I did research (reviews and Consumers Reports) looking for best spot heater for my tiny office and the quietest space heater. I don't have the room for oil-filled radiator and those don't really spot heat. Consumers Reports didn't rate this particular model, but rated the VMHi600 5/5 for spot heating and quietness (and a 4-5 for room heating). I didn't want to spend the extra for the higher model i600 and figured the VMHi500 would be similar. It is! This space heater is QUIET (about 1db over my 51db ambient noise in office at desk height). I have it pointed towards me, the desk and the windows, turned it on, and I was warm in about 5 minutes, with no noise to speak of. Using my decibel meter 2" away from the space heater on High, but picking up the other noise in my office, it is registering 52db "Conversation in home". I really don't care what it reads 'down there', because I'm 'up here' at my desk (and I can't hear it). The other heaters that failed my decibel tests, were so loud they could be heard when I was on a call. And, this Vornado model comes with a remote! I highly recommend. (Also, comes with a very clear manual and a five-year guarantee.). BTW, the Vornado fans I own are all loud in my estimation. This VMHi500 has a fan only option. Win-Win! (Now that I know this is everything I want, I'll take off the sticker. I would have sent it back if it didn't meet my expectations.). This was definitely one of my best purchases ever.

I owned another Vornado room heater of a different model that I bought 2 years ago. I loved it but it recently stopped putting out anything but luke warm air. So I bought this model which was even better and with a remote included. It seems to work even better than the last one except the temperature setting is not quite as accurate as my last one. That's no problem I can mentally adjust. Its the fact that on the low setting it makes a noise that I can't deal with. Almost a clicking sound but the fan isn't hitting anything. You won't be able to sleep with it on low setting. Hi setting is fine. Runs silent then. But it's really irritating not to be able to use it on low in the bedroom.

Works really well. Heats up my 10'x15' room pretty fast, less than 10 mins 57° to 70°. The auto temp works kinda odd, you'd think it would turn off completely and turn on when the room temperature drops below the threshold but instead the fan part stays on but heating element turns off so the fan runs no matter what just slows down. Also the remote wasn't included.

We put this in our RV and it heated up the whole thing easily. It's nice knowing it's safe if it gets knocked over, and nice to have the remote to control it from a distance. We put it in the kitchen area and could use the remote from the back bedroom to turn the temp down. It's solid build quality and having had one before we used in a home garage gym, we know the reliability will last for years to come.

This heater isn’t worth anything. I usually don’t leave reviews and most items are usually useful in some capacity but this heater doesn’t blow heat at all. Not really sure how it made it onto the market.
