    • Pump failed and Half off ponds does not stand by their warranty.
Size: 1 HP Air Pump & Cab
This pump started to get weak and stop moving an adequate volume of air right around 6 months of use. I keep it on a timer and it runs about half the day (1hr on and 1hr off) and turns off at night. I contacted half off ponds thinking I could get it taken care of since it has a 2 year warranty. They told me my failure sounded like "premature failure with the piston rings" and I would need a rebuild kit. I would have been more than happy to accept the rebuild kit at no charge and do it myself, saving money on shipping the pump back and forth. However, I was informed by "W.T." that "rebuild kits are not covered under the manufacturer's warranty since they are a wear and tare item"...So my only option was to purchase a rebuild kit for $150 or scrap the pump. For now I have ordered the rebuild kit hoping to get another season of use out of it but I don't have much faith in this pump at this point. Save your money and buy a better pump. Avoid Half Off Ponds at all cost. ... show more

When my original aeration pump failed, I was shocked to find the cost was nearly that of the full system. After some research, I picked this pump. It is smaller dimensionally and required some creative engineering to fit into the old box and connect to the distribution piping, but not terrible. Picked up a few pipe fittings and modified the old plumbing. My main complaint is the use of 1/4" 24 threads in the base - it is nearly impossible to find these threads on bolts today. The pump is working very well after two weeks of continuous operation. It is actually quieter than the original pump. I am very satisfied with it. ... show more

    • Quiet Power - Failed After a Year

Edit: this pump motor failed after a year. I contacted the seller and started down the run-around replacement path but it didn’t seem like anyone cared about troubleshooting the actual issue-they wanted me to send pictures and they outlasted my willingness to screw around with a week in between unhelpful emails. I’ll keep trying to find a solution elsewhere. Original review…. I bought this pump to replace a previous compressor pump that we had been using for about three years to aerate our pond. The prior pump worked well but I found that I needed to rebuild it about every 12 months. Before I could rebuild it the last time, it failed and I don’t know enough about motors to try and fix it so I just replaced it. What I didn’t expect is how much more powerful and, most importantly, how much quieter this pump would be. I have the pump in an enclosure on the backside of our pond. The prior pump was definitely audible anywhere in the vicinity of the pond. This pump is so quiet that you have to be fairly close to the enclosure to even hear it. It seems to be doing a great job and I will update this review as time goes on but I am thrilled so far at the two month mark. ... show more

I replaced a 1/2hp pump with this 1hp pump to aerate a 1 acre pond. The pump runs quite and puts out enough pressure for 3 diffusers heads. These type of pumps can get extremely hot so I run mine at night for (2) three hour cycles with a 2 hour gap between the runs in a well ventilated pump house. So far no problems. ... show more

Installation went flawlessly. Very quiet motor, puts out a ton of volume. Only been in water 4 days. Since it puts out so much can a splitter be attached to install maybe another diffuser? Very satisfied so far
